Man, I remember when Ridge Racer introduced me to video games as a whole. I was only three years old when I got that steering wheel controller that came with the game and the Playstation back in '95, me and my older brother would play this for hours on end, and we would simply be blown away by the music and gameplay. I always remember all of those races against that Yellow Solvalou and I was eventually introduced to that black Devil Car. At three years old, that Galaga game at the startup was tough and I definitely wanted those extra cars. I prevailed and I finally got the Devil's car a year later. Good times!
This is my first time hearing this version of the track. It's got a playful sound, which is super rad if you like The Prodigy, accordions, and cocaine.
Sat in the arcade cab, going through that first tunnel on the track as the engine bass rumble fires up underneath your seat with this belting out in your ears. Not one arcade experience out there has matched this tune in this game at that moment.
September 1995, night shift done. Straight up to collect ps1 on launch morning 9am with ridge racer and wipeout. Never had that jump in technology since that day. Don’t think I ever will again✊
Man Shinji Hosoe did a damn good job recreating 90s Europe EDM on the soundtrack of Ridge Racer, with a gabber track(rotterdam nation) and this(happy hardcore/eurobeat?)
This gives me the chills of nostalgia. I'd choose this track and maining the R/T Ryukyu. It's kinda emotional I'm not going to lie. This track is legendary.
Agreed. This is true. And it worked! Because if you werent playing the game to beat it, you were probably playing it to hear the music(while screwing around). As a kid there were games I got bored with trying to beat, but would play them soley to hear the music. I agree. This is why games of the 80s and 90s had good soundtracks. Even into the early 00s.
@qskint one thing I love about the older games, because tech was limited the music had to be good in order to give the game drive and emotion. 99% of the music in anything thats been made in the new millennium has been forgetable.
I believe it's still there now. It was only a couple of months back that someone went for the world record on that very machine. arcadeblogger.com/2016/06/17/ridge-racer-a-full-scale-world-record/
Odd take on the title and "Let it hit em": Rare Hero engrished in katakana would be "レア ヒロ" (Rea Hiro). But try it with "ラレ へロ" (Rare Hero) and listen to "Let it hit em" at the same time... it's similar.
You mean you can play it on the CD player. Everything that a disc based game. Had actually everything on the actual game disc. But i know what you meant.
I think this one is my favorite on the whole soundtrack. I have a question, though, qskint. My dad found our old copy of Ridge Racer, and without knowing what it was, he broke it and threw it away. Do you think youo could send me the audio files through e-mail? I've been wnting to put them on my Zune, but I can't since I don't have the disc.
Someone show this to James May on DRIVETRIBE if he hasn't heard it yet. I'd imagine his eyes would gloss over with nostalgia for a chaotic time in the automotive world when everyone was just trying to make the best of it, having fun along the way... (Then have him listen to the PSP Mix to watch him break out in goosebumps as his eyes pop out in shock!)
Ok...so 90% of the newer games have forgetable sound tracks ;p Of course this topic is entirely subjective but you made an excellent point :) I tip my hat to you sir.
(50k * 291) =14550000 seconds = 242500 minutes = 4041 2/3 hours = 168.4 days If that's true, you must have been watching it for 5% of the time since upload
posysajrazdwatrzy u can rip them of the original game disc. they're all WAV files. funny thing was back in the day, when the game was loaded in ps memory u could remove the disc and place any other audio cd. and while playing the game listen to your own music.
Brandon Morris I’m gonna just list a few off the top of my head that are worth checking out; Numan Athletics, Speed Racer (the 1995 Arcade game), Lethal Crash Race, Prodigy Racing, Sonic Wings 3, F/A: Fighter & Attacker, both Shock Troopers games, Sonic CD (JP/EURO version), 500GP/Moto GP, Fighting Vipers 2, Operation Ragnarok, iS: Internal Section, Einhänder, Ace Driver: Victory Lap, and Option Tuning Car Battle 2.

"Underrated" is the dumbest comment on any CZcams video. Be more original, you prick.
