I bought this exact watch. I also bought the OEM bracelet and put it on in place of the strap. I love the green dial. It is now my favorite automatic. It is so comfortable and looks great. It should last my lifetime and then some. I believe it is worth the hype! Great review! Give the doggy a treat for me!

I went into buy the Willard but came away with the SPB143J. I'd looked at the Willard for ever and a day. Even before they released the modern version I had a homage of the original. But when it came to buying it, I chose the 143 instead. Will I buy one in the future? Maybe, but I have a lot of watches I'd like to buy 🤣

I have been eying this watch for a while now and still debating if i should pull the trigger on it (considering Serica 5303 and Squale Sub 39 also). I love the original design of it and green and black combo is really appealing to me. Looking at this example however I would lose my S**t if bezel was misaligned. Cant believe is happening in their $1000+ watches…

The blue bezel/face limited edition is available online for just over £900. I think that offers a better value proposition as it's a true limited edition watch - it even has the number engraved on the back - it comes on the oyster bracelet and has a blue silicone strap in the box, and it looks stunning. However, it's not black, like the original Willard...

This watch is magical, this color is alive! You can feel all the tones of green! Legendary design great quality! I prefer SEIKO to most Swiss brands, if you say it's expensive, what about Oris aquis date $ 2,000 for what? Selita 38 power reserve, or 3000 dollars for Tag Heuer aquaraicer cal 5! Seiko surpasses them in everything for this price!

    • @MegaSale89
      @MegaSale89 Před 2 lety

Love this watch as well and I agree Aquis at full msrp is not a great deal and Tag at any price is not a good deal. You can find some swiss and german watches for few hundred dollars more (Longines Conquest ETA 2892, Sinn etc) with COSC certification and far better performing movements considering seiko’s 6R35 is -15/+25 day (most of them do better but do not some close to cosc). Even those that are not certified run within those certifications. Also swiss watches in this price range will never have alignment issues.

Love my Willard, only complaint was wish it was a bit bigger , the same size as the original like the more pricey SLA version. It is quite a lot smaller than the normal Turtle. Would also have preferred the 4r movement as in my limited experience they run more accurately and consistently. But yes, worth every penny as it is imho.

I own pieces from Casio, times to Rolex and Glashutte Original. I have been wearing watches for 52 years and my feeling, having owned this watch for some years is that it it is more comfortable than any I have owned and I have owned hundreds of watches! The cut away on the underside at 3 and 9 plus the crown at 4 makes for a watch that disappears on the wrist with no feeling that you are wearing a 43 mm watch. the same can not be said of my £10,000 GO Sea `Q Pan date. I know its there!

If you are a huge Seiko fan this is a watch that should be seriously considered. No, it's not as big as the original and it's not as quirky either. But you are getting a watch with historical context but made for this modern age. It's sized right and this green color is hard to beat. I am a Seiko fan, just not a huge fan so I own a special edition turtle and others. This would be on my short list if I were to upgrade.

Are Rolex, Omega, Patek, Panerai etc worth the money they cost?

You guys with smaller wrists have your choice from the majority of watches on the market and besides the Willard is small. It's too small for me and I would love to own one otherwise.

This watch will be a good buy if sized at 40mm and priced at $800.

It needs to be 44/45mm. Too small as it is.

Low beat movements (usually quite inaccurate), aluminium bezel inserts, often misaligned chapter rings, worth $500 at most.

I own a few Seikos but when you start getting into this price range, I'm going to opt for a Swiss or German base watch because their attention to final fit and finish it's heads and tails above Seiko. If Seiko want's to compete they're going to have to get a handle on their quality control issues before they see my hard earned cash.

Why am I hearing sounds of what seems like a woman moaning in the background? So strange, did no one else pick that up? 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you watched till the end he said the noises were from his dog and even showed him. 😂

Bezel is off. It's nice but worth about £300 less than RRP. And that's all it will be worth the minute you strap it on the wrist.

It certainly isn't worth the money Seiko charge, it's a £150 watch at best. The 6R35 is a crock, basically it's a 4R35, with a different barrel and mainspring and balance wheel/hairspring. Prone to problems and poor performance, many not within Seiko's ridiculously wide tolerances. If you want a quality Captain Willard buy a homage, you can get a fully Swiss Made one for £660 or something better than the Seiko for £250 still with a Swiss made hi beat automatic. Seiko have lost the plot, no wonder they're losing customers. Shame, used to stand for something more than overpriced limited edition bullshit a la Omega
