Great work and I enjoyed seeing a different take on how to do a baited 330 set. Normally I do a piece of poplar on each of the bottom bars of the conibear (so down from the dog/trigger) and then hang it from wire to a large log overhanging the hole chopped. Also sorry to hear about your noggin! As a fellow smooth head, there's nothing worse than messing up perfection up top! Haha

If you were camping, it would be easy to find firewood there. I did buckskinning for 45 years and everything had to look authentic, so I carried my leather tools in a pack basket. It is sitting under my desk right now.

Are the traps 12" you all are using? I know camera always messes with sizes things appear. Can't wait to see what you caught next week!🦫🦫
I understand the square trap, but on the bottom the beaver comes and takes the bait with it's front feet pulling it to it's chest keeps swimming triggers trap. No miss no muss. Just my thoughts and my preference

We do and have trapped a bunch of other critters too. Otter , mink, fox, yotes, muskrats , possum, fisher, skunk, weasel, squirrel, racoon....
Why didn't you put the bait on the bottom of the trap?
Because the side works. It is a square trap.
