Mushroom soup either with chicken broth &/or water is delicious 😋
Yum!
Thank you for sharing and God bless!
If you have Firehouse Subs in your area, you can get an empty 5 gallon pickle bucket with a lid for $3. The proceeds go to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which provides lifesaving equipment and training to first responders. It takes a bit to get the pickle smell out though. They work great for garden containers too.
Using hardwood pellets to generate your own spawn is genius. There is definitely a place for low tech solutions. Can't wait for the next video on cooking with them !
I used to use a method very similar when I first started! This works very well. I started doing my own lab work and advanced cultivation a few years ago because I'm a science nerd. Lol this is a great way to start, after a few years if ur curious, you will be creating ur own mushroom strains using spores and agar. This is the most rewarding hobby that feeds u at the same time. Great video!
This is most underrated channel on yt. Great content!
Thanks 😊
We also like to can ours. They are great sauted with onions for steaks or burgers.
Oh my goodness. This I have to try. I use A LOT of mushrooms in my cooking. Gonna be fun!
I love this video ❤ so excited to try to grow them. Thank you so much for my bucket.
Awsome,thankyou👍👍👍👍👍
I love this!! Thanks for the share 🙏
Gracias!!❤ 🍄
Thank you for this, I've been thinking about trying it and your methods seem much easier then others I've seen. We have a local guy that grows and sells mushrooms at the farmers market though he implied it was quite a bit more difficult, of course he has a vested interest in being the only one growing (and selling) them. Still, I need to buy a bunch of different mushrooms from him to find out what kind I want to try.
Oyster mushrooms are really pretty easy! Some other types are definitely a bit more picky, thus more difficult to cultivate, or there are some that really only do well outdoors on logs, but Oysters are really easy keepers! And there are so many varieties of oysters!
Thanks for the comment, I'm so excited for you to start your mushroom growing journey!
🇺🇸🙋♀️ Looks good and fun to grow!
So fun!
Local coffee houses will give you used coffee grounds for free. Just call before you head out and they'll have then ready.
Excellent! This such an encouraging video, as I’ve tried and failed to grow mushrooms in the past. I followed an outdoor log plug approach that just wasn’t at all successful. I’ve since been lured into believing that growing mushrooms by any means is very labor intensive and iffy. I think I’ll give it another try, now, and I look forward to your mushroom prep video. I wonder, was it just the flavor and grow conditions that led you to oysters? Did you consider the various health benefits of different mushroom varieties?
I'm so glad you found it encouraging! Some species are absolutely more finicky, but oysters are a fantastic place to start and build confidence! I've grown oysters indoors and in beds outdoors, Wine cap, and almond agaricus in my garden beds. They are all quite simple to cultivate without drilling logs. Someday, I'd love to experiment with log culture, but I live in pine tree country, so finding the right kind of wood is often difficult for me.
@@apinchofpatience I’ll look for the 2 extra you list. I’m also a new mushroom eater, so I’m very green as pertains to mushrooms. The variety is amazing, so I’m really enjoying them. thanks for your reply.
Thank you for this wonderful video! How much spawn do I need to start growing the mushrooms.
It really depends on what quantity you want to start growing, usually spawn comes in 2 or 5 pound bags, a 2 pound bag plenty to get a 5 gallon bucket going! I usually use a Quart jar of home made spawn for each 3 gallon icecream bucket.
@@apinchofpatience Thank you so much! I love your videos, keep up the excellent work!
Any update ( maybe a pic) on your spawn? Amazing that you can make spawn like this...
I've been adding pics here and there to my story hilight on Instagram @coragbowe if you have Instagram, if not I could post a picture and update post here soon as well. 😀 it's still going great, both grain and sawdust spawn.
@@apinchofpatience going to follow you on Instagram as well... Love your vids... U r amazing! Keep going! Hope you become one of those millionaire CZcamsr 😉👍
@@apinchofpatience I couldn't see in the video, how is your spawn breathing? Did u poke a hole in the cap?
Thank you, I'm so glad you are enjoying the channel!
I was just sitting the cap on kindof offset, but now fruit flies are here for the summer so I'm using a cloth napkin and rubber band over top of an old ziplick bag with some holes poked in it to help it not dry out too much and also keep pesky fruit flies out! Very high tech indeed 😂
How long does the homemade spawn last? Do you need to use it right away?
I've not left it more than a couple weeks past being fully colonized personally but I don't see why it couldn't store longer depending on variety.
Did you tried this method with other varieties ?
I've only used this with oysters and wine cap so far personally.
