    Ludwig really had his business cap on with this one; labelling what is basically an arrangement as an entirely separate piece. Brains and brawn.

      While I agree, I have to say that this sounds like way more than just a transcription of the symphony - especially the piano is a breath of fresh air. And also some contrapuntal lines stand out more due to the smaller number of instruments.

      not really, he gave it the same Opus number, so while you're its labeled as a piano trio, people would have still known its his symphony.
