    Great Review!
    How would the Atomic Backland compare to this ski?
    I'm 190cm tall and rougly 225lb and looking for a Ski for big Powderdays in Europe which i can also use for some resort carving and rather aggresive on piste riding.
    At the moment riding a Dynafit Beast 108, which is not that confidence inspiring in icy harsh conditions, which do occur in backcountry ski-touring.
    Love your chanel and the insights - thank you so much in advance!

      The Corvus Freebird is pretty rugged with about 400 more grams per ski than the Backland. That's a big difference when it comes to touring. If you're looking for the more aggressive ski, I'd go with the Black Crows.

    Thanks for the video reviews! Want to ask your two cents - is it crazy to get this ski with a hybrid binding setup (Shifts?) for "sidecountry" use on the east coast (usually @ Burke VT) for a fitness lap or 2 before/after lifts are spinning...and maybe an occasional "real" backcountry adventure? Currently I ski on '23 Kendos (170s) and am 5'7/175lbs and really dig them, but am interested in getting an uphill setup. Also been looking at the Navis Freebird...maybe that is a better option?

      It all depends on whether you mind having some extra weight with you on your touring. The Shift is a great binding, but it's not a light weight tech binding. Nor is this ski a light weight touring ski. But, if you're looking for fitness, then light weight and uphill efficiency shouldn't be as big of a turnoff.

    As someone who is desperately in love with this ski (specifically the stability), yet skis pretty much exclusively downhill in-resort, can you think of any slimmer-waisted skis that would be a good counterpart to these? I'm looking for a ski to have fun with when I get bored and want to switch things up, but without sacrificing a ton of stability. I'm 6'1"/165lbs, and use the 183cm variant of these.

      To complement a Corvus Freebird for a resort ski with similar behavior, I'd check out the Elan Ripstick 88 or the Armada Declivity 88C. You get a light and energetic feel for sure, and while stability at speed may be a weak point, the overall fun-factor of these skis is off the charts.

    Hello, it can be a good companion to the freebird orb. I'm looking for a second pair of skis for powder days.

      Yes I'd say that's accurate. The Corvus is most certainly a fantastic option for powder days and aggressive lines.

    Hello ! Do you think that it would be a good idea to put shift bindings on it ? As a lightwheit skier, I think it would be interesting for me.
    Thanks !

      I feel that's kind of the intent of this ski--to be paired with more of a hybrid style binding like the Shift in order to maximize both uphill and downhill performance.

    I’m looking for a replacement for my 2016 K2 Coomback’s 104, 1650g ,23 radius which have pin bindings.I live in Verbier and have quite a large collection of skis but still haven’t found a ski so versatile. I want to move to a hybrid binding ( to protect the older knees ) so there will be a weight gain there but most of the more recent light weight similar spec skis I’ve tried seem to use lots of carbon which I really don’t get on with, the K2’s feel so damp compared. The Corvus Freebird seems heavy in comparison but has a similar all mountain intent. Can you recommend a ski with similar qualities to the K2 or is it just old school now?

      @SkiEssentials  Před 8 měsíci

      Maybe look to something that's an alpine ski, but is light? Tough to do without carbon, but check out the Volkl Blaze 106, K2 Mindbender 106 (damp even with carbon), or the Elan Ripstick 106 (not really damp but nice energy).

    Which size do you recommend for this ski? I’m 6’1 and I want a sky stable for the high speeds but also playful for ride in the trees, should I go with the 183 or the 188?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I'd go 183. They're pretty stable even in the slightly shorter lengths. I fear the 188 would be a bit much unless you know you prefer longer skis.

    Hey what do you think about this ski mounted with Duke PT for 50/50 use between backcountry and resort ? I like going fast on slopes and doing gs turns. Is it hard to ski on groomers?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Před 8 měsíci

      It's pretty darn smooth and stable in any conditions and terrain. When paired with the Duke PT, that only adds to the confidence and power when it comes to GS turns.

      We need a bigger mountain than Stowe to give it a fair shot.
