Yes!! As someone with ADHD myself, sticking with anything is HARD! We are always chasing dopamine, but that first euphoria that comes with a new medium, or project, wears off quickly. I've found over the years if I keep several sketchbooks going simultaneously, it really helps. Then I get that dopamine each time I switch projects, and it helps keep me focused better and staying on task.

If you know you have trouble finishing what you start, I think picking a smaller format or a sketchbook with less sheets is less intimidating.

Yeah definitely a good idea 😊

I've never used Gouache, but constantly seeing the style of art you create with it has inspired me to finally order a set. Part of me is telling me to stop trying so many art mediums! But I also keep telling myself this is an exception this time since it's basically just watercolor's opaque cousin. But it's so hard not to jump around and try out everything when it opens up so many possibilities. So I share your sort of admiration of people that can stick to one thing. It would be so much easier, but maybe not very fulfilling. I like when you bring up the subject, because it's something I always have to deal with. I think I'll have a lot of fun when the gouache arrives.

You can stick to certain things and jump around with others! I think having both mindsets is key so you don't get bored but always see progress 😊

I always say I’m crafty not arty... but really, I think I’m just a shopper/collector of craft/art supplies judging from my craftroom purchases 😂😂😂

@@cazkiwinz4300 I started to realize I had a problem myself when one desk just wasn't enough. Step one after organizing your art room: Canvas the entire area for that one tiny art tool that's super essential for the piece your working on.

@@travisnobleart Haha, I have a double room and 4 desks myself and now lament the lack of room for new stuff...... the photos I have of this space when we bought it 5 years ago to today.... shows I started from pretty much nothing to a crammed packed full room that could double as my own fully stocked arts & craft shop.... and I still can’t draw... but... it’s full of “possibility” that I could learn... one day... and I’ll have the right tools for it...... right? 😂

@@cazkiwinz4300 Ah 4 desks sounds nice. I could dream about it. One desk for each medium. Of my two desks, one is inclined so definitely a no for colored pencils on that one. I use it for drawing and ink brushing. The other desk I have is not inclined so I have it for paints, nib pen and colored pencils. Well, when you give each desk a designated purpose you start to get more use out of them.

I'm sure i have nearly around 100 (or more) sketchbooks under my bed. From little to big ones, different paper and formats. But i have NEVER finished any of them. I usually get stuck around the 20th page or so, some have more and some less tho. I think the one where I've drawn the more i only got to the 150th page and i really want to end it but i can't bring myself to 😭

I am soooo close to completing my first ever sketchobook. Completing things is really not the easiest. At least not with art. I wrote and completed several novels (which still makes me EFFING proud), but my first ever sketchobook? Whoooo!! I compete against my adhd too and I am about to win big time this time :D

I suggest you to pace yourself while doing voiceovers for your videos.. Like actually add in pauses when necessary. And also some pleasing instrumental music in the background would help as well. Or else it would create 'listener's fatigue'.

I love your channel. I put crushing pressure on myself that stifles me so your way of doing things is inspiring. It's simple but fun and very creative. I relate to what you said about trying many things. I sold some art gear thinking I wouldn't need it but never do that! I have many hobbies with projects on the go. I used to beat myself up about it. Now I accept it. I do try to not start another project in that hobby until I finish it. Otherwise I get very down. I feel like I'm not an expert at anything and I get jealous too of ppl like your firefighter friend. Ppl that have ONE thing they channel into. But I'm learning that I'm different and just to accept that. Your channel is cheerful and I think do-able. I drew some sea shells in my book. Now I'm like... Do I have to paint a scene? (bored already) then I thought of what u would do - I'll create some cool wavy lines!! Yay NO PRESSURE! thanks heaps! ❤️

I don't feel the need to finish one sketchbook before starting another. I have several, in different sizes, with different paper, and get to experiment with many combos of paper and media. But if it makes you happy to finish, great.
