      no that's not what i'm saying lol, Wizkid is the prince of Afrobeat, but don't get it twisted Fela is the King.

    • @thepresence2095
      @thepresence2095 Před 7 lety +11

      You're wrong, this contemporary genre with its root from west Africa Nigeria and Ghana particularly, is a fusion of African sounds, Caribbean and Pop influences and its called "Afrobeats" different from Fela's sound which drew its influence from basically Jazz and highlife and is called "Afrobeat" without an "S".
      Times magazine particularly did an article about the two genres and titled it the "difference a letter makes". That's why it's stupid when Ghanaians struggle for musical glory with Nigeria with the claim that Nigerians are jacking their beats when the entire genre itself is a fusion of several beats.

    In response to what Wiz said about the US just now catching up on African music, though I can’t argue with that, I had to comment on it.
    I say this humbly and I hope that I don’t come across as inappropriate but I’ve been successful in the promotion and spreading of African music in America since 2010 through national and online radio stations, DJ’s and other music promoters here in the States; including Wizkid’s music. The US wasn’t ready then, but that didn’t stop me. I was persistent because I knew in my heart that African music had major potential to take off mainstream. I was also committed to exposing underrepresented talent from African music artists, so I I launched my music promotion company knowing it would be a struggle to convince America to join the movement. 10 years later…. I’m proud. Finally!!!
    And I’m happy to hear that Wiz was raised in a healthy, loving family. That’s priceless. Good job to his parents!
    Last thing lol. Does Wiz really know women because he grew up with 7 sisters? I wanna ask him myself lol. J/k. I’m teasing. 😜
