- This performance features a signature routine often used to close Johnny's close-up performances. It includes a poem in 52 Stanzas on the subject of card table artifice accompanied by a demonstration of the associated sleight of hand.
"The Gambler's Ballad" was composed specifically for Johnny in 1971 by Milan Bulovic.
Johnny Thompson was the recipient of the inaugural Allan Slaight Award for "Lifetime Achievement" in 2015.

The Magic Palace was filmed in Calgary, Alberta and hosted by illusionist Dale Harney. It ran for three seasons and featured an astonishing array guests including some of the most well regarded magicians and mentalists of the era.
