All the malnourished and protein lines refer to natsuki’s dad abusing her, not making enough money to feed her
"not making enough money to feed her" no he's just using food as a token to manipulate her. It's a known pattern with abusive parents.
I gotta explain the "wasting paper" bar just cause it's a *deep* cut, like from that line alone I knew Raven was gonna win. So, the hook of DDLC is that it looks like a cutesy slice of life dating sim/visual novel, but ends up a metanarrative psychological horror. The game released on steam for free, firstly because the whole point was the steam store page was basically a big lie to trick the player, secondly because it's less a game than it is a proof of concept. When it was rereleased on console, however, it had a $15 price tag with zero additional content, so that's why it'd be a "waste" to pay any money for it.
Bufftsuki is a meme referring to one of the aforementioned metanarrative "glitches" that results in comically muscular Natsuki, like All Might with an anime girl head photoshopped onto it. "Bara barrer" is a play on the japanese term "bara" which is basically a japanese equivalent to a 'bear' body type, ie the same kind of hyperexaggerated muscles Bufftsuki has. The "It was just a game to him, nevermore" is also a massive play on the metanarrative stuff since the whole crux of the game is that one of the characters knows that the generic anime-boy protagonist is just a self-insert for the IRL player.

Buffsuki actually never appears in the game as a glitch, it was a meme made by the artist for the game on Twitter.
@@VinVonVoom Appreciate the fact check. Wasn't the side stories a post-launch update though? I based all this off of what my two friends who have played the game themselves told me.
@@300IQPrower No, it's always had those side stories and they were treated as the main hook even in the reveal trailer.
@@VinVonVoom Interesting...I wonder why the controversy about it being a low effort priced release was a thing then, because that bit i explicitly remember. I guess some people just didnt think it was enough new content to justify the price.

Okay, I had to look this up because I haven't played Doki Doki Literature Club: One of Natsuki's poems in the game is called "Amy Likes Spiders." A brown recluse is a species of spider, but "recluse" also means "someone who avoids the company of other people." So it's a pun: Amy likes spiders, but even she wouldn't like this creepy recluse.

The waver line is because the game looks like it’s for kids but it’s actually a “horror dating simulator”
The parfait line is from the manga natsuki reads called parfait girls, to which her friends make fun of her cuz they don’t think comics are real literature
Eyes popped out is referencing Monika (the villain) killing her by deleting her code which made her eyes fall out. The one critique part was that she made the mistake of flirting with the character, which triggered Monika to kill natsuki

In the game Natsuki writes a poem about a girl named Amy who everyone looks down on because of her interest in spiders (reflecting how everyone looks down on Natsuki's interest in manga). Spiders are generally considered creepy and reclusive (a lot of spiders names include the word recluse) so she's saying that even though Raven is creepy and reclusive like a spider not even Amy, who loves spiders, would like her
Natsuki has anger issues and has trouble making friends. That explains the "eyes pop out". But Natsuki showed no love for MC (Main Character) so she wasn't into anyone. Natsuki's head also snapped during the game.
I mean Natsuki was supposed to be a play on the "tsundere" archetype which is essentially a girl who is secretly in love with a guy but acts mean to hide her feelings. Also the "eyes pop out" line is much more literal than that as her eyes literally pop out at one point in the game
