Welcome back. Today we plan to go North Goa, we’re going to Candolim and we’re going to have fish thali and veg thali as these days we were only on red meat-red meat, so, for a change
We went to Sai Prasad restaurant behind Decathlon in Calangute, who were very nice and welcoming. We enjoyed the green monsoon season drive. We also got a glimpse of the ferocious monsoon time Arabian Sea on Candolim beach. We enjoyed the sea air. We saw that even in the off season, when sea swimming is banned, there were plenty of tourists enjoying themselves
After taking in the sea and clicking pics, we left for Calangute where our viewer Sonia, who is like a friend, had also recommended Sai Prasad restaurant. Calangute was busy as usual with traffic and tourists. Other viewers have also told us that Sai Prasad restaurant behind the Decathlon store has great Goan food. So we are happy that we could actually cover a place recommended by Sonia on this trip north
Decathlon is in Gauravaddo, Calangute, close to the St Anthony Chapel. And just straight behind Decathlon store is Sai Prasad. You can easily spot the black and red board
Sai Prasad’s menu has just what we want. Today is going to be for kingfish and prawns
We felt encouraged to see that mostly Goans were eating at Sai Prasad because we were looking for authentic goan food in Calangute
Today Maria is having veg thali and Lesley is having kingfish thali. We also shared a prawns plate.
We were quite hungry after roaming, so happy to see Sai Prasad bring our lunch very quickly. First came Maria’s veg thali and a plate of very appetising looking prawns, then my kingfish thali
Maria’s veg thali had dal, masoor dal, bhindi bhaji, salad, pickle, rice, batata fodi, chapati and papor
Lesley's kingfish thali has crab curry, bhindi bhaji, narl kodi, salad, pickle, rice, chapati, fish curry, papor and a nice piece of kingfish
The fish curry was really superb. Taste of teflam came through
The fried prawn with the curry was heavenly
The kingfish with the curry was also wonderful
Maria really liked the whole masoor dal
Sai Prasad is definitely a place to come to if you want to try authentic Goan food in Calangute. There’s nothing flashy or fancy about it. It’s just good, home style food
We found the bill quite reasonable for the good quality of the food. Less than Rs 1,000 (food bill only) for great fish and seafood in Calangute

I like how these simple outlets and shacks in Goa serve healthy clean and scrumptious meals, whereas we won’t have the courage to eat at shacks in any other state. Big risk.

Wow…great place. Last year we were here. There is one more a very nice place to eat in Calangute, ‘de little Goa kitchen and bar’ and then of course Sussegado in front of KFC. But I really recommend de little Goa.

Thank you and thank you for enlightening me of this restaurant. I didn’t know about it. I always stay beachside in Calangute every year, now I can’t wait for my next visit. I live in Norway so I have to wait for January to taste all the good food ❤❤
A lovely video again girls, and wearing a raincoat inside the car made me laugh and reminded me of my childhood where I was made to do the same. My wife didn't like the look of the crab, she is bit squeamish but she did enjoy the video

Goa has attracted good amount of Tourist in Off season also. It's good for Goa's economy. To increase Quality Tourist, Goa should focus on Family Tourist. Family spend money. For Family Roads should be wider, Parking facility should be increased.

Question : I’ve noticed that whenever you’ve ordered the kingfish or with curry, the size of the kingfish is very thin and small. Is it because the fish costs more to purchase or availability of this fish is limited !

Hi Lesley, you could've tried going to (Vihans's) Fish house in calangute. It's a nice cozy family restaurant and serve fish thali and local Goan food. I am myself planning to visit on the 4th 😊

As certain pronunciations of yrs, I found Indian-Anglicized, cd b that u were based out & r searching yr roots thro' d pallet.
Am inquisitive as being a disconnected Goan myself, based in a highly communally-sensative Indian land, since d Portuguese era, when my parents hvg settled here, needed a Passport to commute between Portuguese & British ruled lands.
Living by myself, and a Cancer Survivor, wished that I too cd hop onto yr bandwagon, to get d taste of my long lost roots, before it loses its very unique goan identity & taste in d near future, with all d chaos going on around, at someone else's cost (joking as Free does not digest).
