Also gender hormones and surgery don't really decrease the risk of suicide or attempts at it. Its a really weird argument to have.
@@recreationalelmersglue6053 But i do think that after extensive therapy there will be some childrens on the right state of mind to make a desicion... but i also believe that would be a really small handfull... really the king here would be the therapy overall i think is a whole different deal if the kids wants to procced to a transition afterward, at least the doctor seems very empathetic and not the kind to shove the procedure onto the kid but rather go for it if the kid really wanted... i hope.....I HOPE.
@@jorgecornejo782 Yeah. But that's the issue I have. Let's say 20% of kids would genuinely be better off transitioning at 11-17 instead of 18. We don't know how to identify them. And 80% of the kids would be worse off. Also specialists like this often create the issue of railroading. If they specialise in specifically transgender people then ones that may not benefit from becoming transgender are often misidentified. It happens in all fields. A lot of people with adhd are misidentified as having depression or anxiety because those are more common. I also HATE the idea of performing essentially cosmetic surgery on children if the consequences are still not fully known.

The “doctor” didn’t even answer the question about adverse effects of hormone use on young kids. He’s just like you want them alive or dead?
His point is hat he'd rather have more kids feel comfortable and happy about themselves rather than kill themselves
@@cladoxylopsida568 that seems a bit dangerous in my opinion as delaying hormones during development could have asverse effects. But if the other alternative is the kid becoming suicidal than I get the risk. I hope that with counselling doctors can advise for kids to wait though because I heard a big factor in suicide in trans people after highschool/college is knowing that they've made such life-altering/non-reversable decisions. Sounds like thats whats going on though, very confusing from an outside perspective
The kids won't always be kids, when they're adults chances are they'll regret the decision. If anything you're just delaying and enforcing suicide (on some of them)
what a massive decision to give a 12 year old. How could they possibly even know what the hormone delaying or treatment would do having not even gone through puberty. Thats fucking disturbing that kids actually go through that.
The guy was unwilling to even address possible adverse effects or even regret. It was just the implication that they'll kill themselves otherwise... so dishonest.

I heard from another commentor its some delaying procedure relating to puberty, so then teens who are at risk of suicide have more time to really think about their actions. Still makes me uncomfortable but makes a bit of sense as the alternative, at least in the cases relating, would be suicide.
