“Spain” is perhaps the late jazz pianist and composer Chick Corea’s most recognized piece. Now performed as a jazz standard, this thrilling piece originally debuted in 1971 for a Rhodes electric piano, drums, vocals, and a flute on Corea’s “Light as a Feather” album, fusing Spanish and Brazilian influences. Our five-piano, ten-hand arrangement joins the ranks of numerous renditions that innovate on this quintessential theme. Opening with the romantic and moving “adagio” borrowed from “Concierto de Aranjuez” for the guitar, one should not find themselves serenaded for too long as the song bursts into a samba-like rhythm. The main theme and improvised solos can make anyone want to tap and dance along.

As pioneers in the art of collaborative piano, we challenge the notion that piano is only a solo instrument and push the traditional boundaries of how the instrument is performed. Four hands on one piano, ten hands on five pianos, and everything in between - we’ve done it or we’ll do it. Our mission is nothing less than to make beautiful music accessible to all and to spread it around Princeton and the world.
