Mamie, was real and ahead of her time! She was open about the casting couch and her life in Hollywood! Her son is very handsome and they look like siblings! When I put one of my now husband on my desk I was advertising my sexual orientation because someone at work was offended. In that way, he was saying that being gay does not import the same rights and, more than rights, privilege, to people as being straight does. Therefore he is in fact criticizing being gay because he considers it inherently wrong to live your life as yourself, and that someone else's comfort level is more important than your right to live as you are. Mamie is right about this issue. Put yourself in our place and think about what you are saying.
He says people shouldn't share their sex lives. He later wrote the book Hollywood Gomorrah, telling everyone's sex secrets. Complete loser and hypocrite. I don't think he was out at this time so his issue was probably more about his not wanting his sexuality told. Mamie was correct. It shouldn't matter. A person should be proud of themselves, as well as who they love.

Lowe compares Van Doren with Madonna at the beginning of interview . Towards the end he brings out Van Doren's son Perry Anthony , who looks and acts like Madonna's brother Christopher Ciccone . Van Doren shows off her toned leg right in front of her son . I could imagine Madonna's brother being that deferential if he was in a similar situation . I guess that's the power of celebrity .
In watching this interview for the 2nd time I find Mamie not too intelligent about her facts regarding Clark Gable..She stated she really liked Clark Gable and would have gone after him if he had not been married and and she also said he was in his 60's... He was married to Kay Williams from 1955-1960. He never made it to his "60's" cause he died November 16, 1960 from a hearth attack (he was born Feb 1, 1901 ) I remember hearing it on the radio because I was 14 yrs then and was a movie fan living in ohio then. My family moved to Los Angeles In January 1961 and I am still a movie fan even at the ripe old age of 70.
