Hard to find better videos for learning about Macs and Apple software out there. Great job!! By the way, could you tell me what camera and mic you used in this video? The sound is really good. Thank you!!
You have the best Mac/Apple videos, Gary. Great tips in this one. I am really missing the last version of Safari’s Top Sites page and the ability to pin pages there, the current version of Safari doesn’t seem to have any way to restore this. Is there a way to duplicate the Top Sites in today’s Safari?
@@macmost Yes, I had seen that video when you posted it. But it’s really not the same: The thumbnails are not full-page previews, they can’t be pinned, and to get close to the old Top Sites you have to use Favorites which means the “Top Sites” and Favorites list have to be the same. O well, it was a nice feature but hardly among my top ten favorite lost MacOS features of the last 15 years.
@@JohnMHammer Not sure what you mean by "can't be pinned." The Favorites are exactly what you want to be. So how is that not the same or better than "pinned?"No previews, sure, maybe they'll add that as an option at some point.
Good tutorial bro, thanks! But I have a question..I don't want Safari to close the windows, when I click the "x" button..I want when I reopen to see the previous opened tabs..how to do this? Thanks!
Hey Gary..... thanks for ALL your Apple help!! I’m a reformed Windows user! Love the MAC.... I just wonder why Safari does do well with “ PayPal”?? It never finishes opening it up! To make it work I have to use a different browser!! Thanks....
can you maybe make a video on how to change the favorites icons? I've seen plenty of videos to see how to change them and I tried it but they just stay the same, F for Facebook, S for Spotify and so on.
@@GraduallyLiving That would work, but it isn't "reasonable" for most people -- especially considering the learning curve + work vs the reward. But by all means try it if you are willing to.

Hi gary, i can see that you have been using big sur for a while now So what do think is it worth enrolling for now or should we just wait for apple to release the update.
What's your reason for wanting to jump on to the beta? If you are a developer that needs to test out your software before Big Sur comes out, then yes. Otherwise, wait for the normal release.
@@macmost ok garry I am actually not a developer I just wanted to upgrade to it cause it is like a very cool update they have released in years. But ok I will now wait for the normal release
I just want for Safari to look different and more appealing. I just downloaded Big Sur. The book mark bar shows my Favorites but the names there are faint and not easy to read and I wish they were more BLACK or BOLDER. Also the font size for those book marks in the bar need to be larger if possible.
Gary do you know of a way to make Safari stop making the bubble when I put my cursor over the green, expand window dot, in Safari? I use multiple windows and when I close one by clicking the red dot, the cursor is aligned with the green dot. It kind of adds another step in the process that wasn't there until the "feature" was added.
Helpful video! Great info and new subscriber. I'd appreciate your help with an issue I'm having with Safari. The "choose file" button doesn't work. When clicked on websites where I upload my art and photos to, it doesn't work. It worked before. I was having some other issues with the rest of my machine and reset the NVRAM, booted in safe mode, and a couple of other things. Those other issues have been fixed but since doing that, Safari doesn't let me upload anything. The "choose file" dialogue box doesn't open on any websites I use, (email, flickr, deviant art, all of that). I've tried repairing permissions and didn't help. I wonder if maybe some setting somewhere got changed and I wasn't aware of it. I can upload files on Chrome no problem but I'd prefer to stick with the cleaner look of Safari for day to day web browsing. I'm on a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro with OSX Mojave. Thanks!
Widen them? There's no option for that. I don't think there is an option for that in Chrome either, unless I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to do.
What do you mean by "session?" Are you quitting Safari? Don't quit, just Hide when you aren't using it. Otherwise, in System Preferences, General, uncheck Close Windows When Quitting An App.

The bonus search tip about managed websites doesn't work me either. The results are typical google return. Not those from the managed site
Fix my Safari on my iPhone. I try to fill in info on online forms and it freezes. Apple even sent me a new phone but that didn't fix it.

In Safari is it possible to widen vertical scroll bars? If not my old eyes will drive me to Chrome, where I can widen it.
