"Hello again. Dallas Council back from AAMCO Transmissions of Venice and today, I want to talk to you about some common symptoms and sounds that you may hear if you are experiencing a transmission failure. So with that, let's go and get started.
If you start your car, put it in gear and it goes, "Graaaaaaaaa-kk!" that may be a transmission problem. If you start your car and it goes, "Wizzzzzzz-zzzzz," that also may be a transmission problem. If when you put your car in gear and give it gas, it goes, Vrooooooooom-Clunk that could also mean that you are having a transmission problem. If when you accelerate, your car goes Vvvvvvvoooooooo and doesn't move very fast, you may be experiencing a transmission problem. If when your car is shifting gears, it goes thddddddth, thddddddth you may be experiencing a transmission problem. If you're driving on the highway and you hear, "Whooooooo, whoo, whoooo," you are probably about to get a speeding ticket.
The point of this video was to explain a few symptoms that you may experience if your transmission is failing but more to get the point across that transmissions fail in a variety of ways. There is no set of symptoms that you may experience. Sometimes, you may be experiencing a symptom or noise that you are certain is the transmission and indeed it's really not the transmission.
And sometimes you may be experiencing a symptom that you are certain is not the transmission and it may be a transmission failure. With today's transmissions, they're all electronically controlled. They are very hard and can be very tricky to diagnose. Some problems may be minor and not very expensive at all and some problems may be major and be very, very expensive.
The best thing to do in any case is to get your car to a specialist or a certified mechanic that will diagnose the car for you accurately because again, there is no common set of circumstances that make one failure major as opposed to one being minor. That can only be determined in real time by a real diagnosis.
So again the point of this video was to really have a good time and make you laugh but also get the point across that transmissions fail in a variety of different ways. The most important thing is getting it diagnosed by a trained professional that will save you the most money and get you the best quality repair.

Actually had me laughing my ass off!!! Then I thought about the $1,800.00 I just paid for a rebuilt that is now making some of these sounds 6 months later, I didn't find it as funny. Thankfully, it's guaranteed for 1 year.

That's really funny. My truck made some horrible sounds and I was trying to imitate it for someone to diagnose and I couldn't convey it (have you ever tried-? Not easy. :/) Then I searched for sounds on this site and he did pretty good. lol Now I'm on the way back to show him this to see if that's indeed the problem and right shop. ROFL! When. the trannsmission failed in my '97 Hyundai Sonata.. It didn't make any of those noises! It just went BANG! Then after I had a shop "rebuild" the transmisssion.. it made EVERY ONE of those noises, before it went "BANG" again! This was YEARS ago..I can laugh about it now! Great sound effects! XD

what about ticking/clicking sound. when in park or neutral snapping the throttle no sound. put in drive while driving a steady ticking/clicking sound. stays at a constant. won't do it in reverse.
I was expecting to see and hear a car make the sounds,but this was much better.

loud strong jerk like if being hit from behind then engine shuts off. put back on park it starts up like nothing ever happen but when i shift to rev or drive engine shuts off. 2003 honda pilot 3.5

I kind of inherited an 86' caddy, and when I put it in drive it would clunk once pretty hard. I don't think it clunked when I put it in reverse, but when I would slow down to about 10-15mph, it clunked when I would accelerate. One day, I started the car and put it into Drive, and after I heard the clunk and it wouldn't go anywhere at all. It starts and revs, but won't move. Is this a transmission problem?

My car is making a whining noise when im in gear and am slowing down, and when i try to downshift. Seems to do it alot when its cold.
when i slowly engage my 89 crx clutch and i hear a loud clunk and there seems to be a little slack, it also happened when i go around a corner quickly, it clunks and feels like it walks to the side
What about a pulsating sound of what seems like an and air nozzle my 90 f350 has had the transmission rebuild from the same company 2 times and now gets stuck into 3rd gear unless I manually put it into 2nd-1st it will only go into 2nd
Would a bad transmission drive perfect in higher gear but when I go to slow down it jerks around like the computer is confused?

What if you put in drive or low gear and it doesnt move forward and makes a loud whirring sound. Engine starts and revs and also is fine in park, reverse and neutral.?

When I’m moving while neutral or going slow in first it whines loud, like gears rubbing into each other, it gets louder when I lay my hand on the shifter, does anyone know why???
What if my manual transmission makes a harmonic whine when down shifting and in reverse when clutch, slipped slightly is not fully depressed?
Mine goes, "Bzzzzzzzzzz" in any gear and Patk, while I am stopped. It may be "buzzing" while I drive and I just can't hear it. Sometimes I can change the gear and it will subside a little or even stop the sound entirely.
It's an AOD from an "83 T-Bird now in my "62 F100 behind a stock 302.
I got kinda excited 1 minute and 15 seconds in thinking I was gonna get some info about my 6L80 trans. It sounds similar in my 09 Suburban LTZ when the trans slips.
