JULY 2017 -
When my wife and I travel, we usually like to rent local apartments / houses to stay in rather than hotels - especially since we have a baby it makes it easier. But additionally, it also allows you to stay in a local neighborhood where you can experience the normal everyday life in a country.
In this video, we just set off on a walk around the Munich neighborhood that were staying in. First we needed to get a few groceries from the supermarket, then we continued walking to the local parks (by the way, there are some truly beautiful parks in Munich and green spaces), then we continued walking to a little farmers market, and on finally to a local beer garden which Munich is so famous for.
Hope you enjoyed this Munich, Germany neighborhood tour!

What did you think of this Munich neighborhood walk? Was it interesting or just boring? Should I do these everywhere I travel? Would love to hear your honest thoughts, thanks!
Mark Abroad very good mark
very interesting mark
While your food videos are the best part of your channel, these type of videos add a bit of diversity. Keep doing this Mark.
Interesting video...👍👍👍
did you use separate audio recording now, mark?
Germany is an amazing place to visit. Friendly people, Good and affordable food and if you can speak little German you get lot of respects from the local people. Amazing Country !!!
unless u live their as foreigner. then you will get always get looks filled with hatred.
@@joshiyamamoto2068 Wrong, you get looks with hatred if you dont start "integrating" (in culture etc.) we germans dont hate anything more than people who dont work or dont integrate because with our taxes we pay those people.
@@gfwvegas How can you know if people are working and paying taxes or not by just looking at them with hatred in public places? I pay taxes (As a highly qualified worker, I pay way more than the majority of Germans) and I still get these looks because I don't look German and my accent "ist schlecht" = expat. If you speak English sometimes it turns out to be better because they might think you are a tourist, if they think that you are an expat who have been living in Germany for a while and still don't speak German then you will get the meanest look ever. A lot of Germans live and work in other countries without speaking the native language and I doubt they get treated and prejudged like this, at least not from where I come from. On the other hand, well-educated people and highly qualified German workers are open-minded and tend to be really nice and respectful.

Love that there's not one person holding a cellphone in that beer garden area. They are all enjoying each other's company. Great to see that there's still some places who truly value real people interactions.😊
Rosemary Green noticed that top, I was in awe
@natalie storm ppl in munich are pretty rude compared to the rest of germany though XD
I remember seeing a lot of people using very old phones in Berlin, and they rarely checked them because there's only SMS and phone calls available. Really interesting and very different from Brazil where I'm from. Also many people reading books/magazines/newspapers in trains and buses.
Actually in most of the European countries its still normal to just talk with each other when going out together ;)

Munich is my favorite city on the planet. I work world wide and I lived there in my early 20s. I love Munich.
Believe me - I was born in Munich in 1982 and Í´m still livin here but it´s not what it´s used to be. Crowded, loud, a lot of construction sides etc. I miss my old Munich from the 80s to early 2000s.

Every body smiles at Micah and Mark smiles back at them. Simple. 😄 One of the most warm and affable CZcamsr. Thanks for being so nice, Mark. People like you make this bitter world, a better place. God bless you.
MsScorpyscorp I don’t need people to be “nice”, people should be GENUINE. I’ve known fake “nice” people (actually not nice at all - a few were sociopaths) and I’ve known too many “nice” people who were repressing their true emotions - some with dire consequences - don’t want that either. I love New Yorkers, I don’t trust people typically who are too nice too fast. But hopefully, his emotions are genuine. I support people’s rights to be angry or sad; they do not owe me some kind of constant clown-like smile. Just be yourself. Amen.
I like his tour. He is so positive and open to a different culture. He is trying to show German living.
Micah is so cute, busy observing his surroundings :) it's wonderful to see him in the whole video. kudos to you Mark, great vid as always!
This came up as a recommended video on CZcams and I about spit my water when I saw the thumbnail 😂 it was funny to see a visitor's impression of my home (you walk past my street) and that "park" is private grounds. That's what all those signs say 😅 too bad you didnt turn left and go to rotkreuzplatz. That's the real heart of Neuhausen.
So cool to visit a German market. Thank you for taking us with you! Micah is growing up so fast!
Yes please do!! Every thing you post is interesting and it's always nice to know that CZcamsrs like you always surprise us with fresh new content !!!
Micah is one lucky kid, he is growing up so beautifully. Thank you Mark for featuring these countries of my dreams. Love from Texas.
Mark, I really enjoy you showing us around the neighborhood, makes me feel like I am there. Thumbs up from me!
Great video, makes me feel like I'm there. The little mom & pop market with the fruit and veggies outside put a smile on my face.
It's adorable how Micah looks at you while you hold him and talk. love how spots Ying filming you and smiles. Such an attentive Lil boy. Great video.
Micah is adorable and calm! Such a good baby to travel with. I can see him being a traveler too down the line :).
Thank You for the Munich Tour ....
It meant so much to me, as I lost both my parents, who grew up in the area!!
Thank You for the Memories!!
I lived in Germany for 15 years and loved every minute of it. Good to see you guys enjoying it as much as I did.
I never get bore watching his videos . He is incredible full of life.
I love that there's so much of Micah in this video. 😊 And that grocery store looked amazing!
Watching Micah watching you and smiling at camera-Mommy in this super chill super beautiful neighborhood is absolutely priceless! Please do this on every trip you take. I look forward to seeing every aspect of this wonderous world through Weins Ohana's eyes.
Omg Munich looks so beautiful and calm and well designed .
Im sure I dont speak for all, but i just simply like you as a person and so because of that I feel like I will like and appreciate anything you put out haha. Keep up the good work Mark, best wishes!!!
I miss living in Germany!! Definitely one of my favorite things to do was grocery shopping. Thank you for the tour!! And micah is so cute , he's growing so fast!!
Awesome to hear that, thank you Shayne.
Yes there is not much else in Germany than the anonymus food supermarkets like LIDL, ALDI and Netto, where nobody will talk with You. They are open until 20 or 21 hours daily.
is it better than other countries?
Its now not like you know it :D lots of crime :/

Micha steals the show every time! He is so well behaved and alert to his surroundings. What a wonderful child you have!
Loved the walks through parks Mark. Micah looked like he was having fun too!
It is really exciting to see my hometown through the eyes of a tourist. I smiled during the whole video. Can't wait to have more videos of Munich and you. :-D
Hi Micah! He's such a happy baby!
I liked the walk through the neighborhood and seeing the buildings. Micah makes friends everywhere he goes because he is so adorable! He is getting so big! Loving all your videos!
I loved it! Munich looks lovely. I loved watching Micahs expressions throughout the video. Love his smile.
Goodness! Micah is getting so big! I loved the neighborhood tour.
Mark living the life!!

U r very good at explaining and very respectful of other people's cultures. That's a great quality to have in a person.
This was an original way to show what Munich looks like from a deeper insight. I felt like I was walking along. Great explanations. Now I want to spend more time there by walking. A remarkable thing is that you always keep smiling. It really conveys a more joyful experience. Thanks for the video.
It's really entertaining and refreshing to watch tourists discover your city! The wierd thing is I could think of so many places that are esthetically more beautiful than this neighborhood, but at the same time this is so authentic because it is so random and real. You do get a better feel for the place that way. I love how enthusiastic you are and that you appreciate the calmness of Munich (while some consider it boring). One hint for your next visit: You can actually bring your own food to beergardens! If it is oficially called "Biergarten" you are only expected to buy your drinks there, but it is customary to bring your own snacks. Only if it is called "Gastgarten" (=guest garden) or in the part with service you are expected to buy from them. So it is also a quite economical place to enjoy yourself.
Excellent! Keep going in this direction of vlogging. Mark, YOU ARE A STAR among food bloggers. I like also some small interactions with shopkeepers, cooks, etc. I am also nicely surprised at the amount of travel you were recently undertaking with your family.
Just incredible!!! Loved seeing the tour of your neighborhood, especially Germany! You guys are a beautiful family and I absolutely love your videos! ❤
Your baby so cute. I finally saw him smile!!! Adorable!
Yes Mark , it's fun to see also the surrounding areas where you go on your travels. Btw, Micah is really growing fast☺️ I love how he smiles and interacts now. See you on your next installment👍🏻
Thank you for the feedback!
OMG XD Mica keep looking and smiling at the camera everytime Mark passes...
Yes, this was great! Traveling is all about the food, the sights and sounds and what the locals are doing. I was born in Frankfurt and family stayed only two years when dad was in Army stationed there, so I was interested when you went to Germany. Mark, you and your family are blessed to be able to travel around the world but because you are willing to share through CZcams, then we the viewers are also blessed because alot of us can't travel for whatever reason. Some perhaps are living varcariously through you. Sooo, Viva La Blessings......Viva La Mark, Ying, and Micah! 💙
I love your enthusiasm and joy about all those little things. Very inspiring. I live in Munich since 1991, but it was so interesting to see everything through your eyes. Gave me a new perspective.
Love it! Enjoyed the relaxed, easy-going atmosphere of the video. Felt like I was right there with you ambling through the quiet neighborhood streets of Munich. My vote's for more videos like this. :-)
I think this type of video fits your brand perfectly!! Thanks for sharing!!
Oh and one more thing ... micah is so cute! Baby carriers are the way to go when traveling!!!!!
I live in Spain since decades and joining your walk to the Augustiner Keller, where I used to "organize the carpark" being 5 or 6 years old, was a great experience. Thank you ever so much for bringing back some childhood memories.
All the best to you and lots of success with your videos, your Chris
I am so looking forward to Micah tries videos! Love catching up with you and your family with every upload.
Lol I love Micah's face as your holding the big mugs of Apple juice!
Mark, I loved the neighborhood tour with Micha and you. Loved seeing how the neighborhood looked ,the store and just the outside. Please keep doing tours like that. And also apartment tours. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from Bethlehem pa.

I love how clean and calm it is.
Mark you are not just experimenting but doing a great Job, you are aware of the viewers choice which you are trying to do. Definitely, you are trying to add some more potential and looking for feedbacks, whatever you do we will support you! You are a true traveler. Cheers!
Thumbs up if you noticed and appreciate micahs collection of hats! The one with the teddy bear ears is my favorite, stylish kid ! 🙂
Micah is so cute! Thank u for this tour
Thanks Mark for presenting us with this video.
I love the mixture of city with the countryside with lots of greens around.
I hope to travel around the world (as you and your family have) when time allows. I absolutely appreciate and enjoy watching segments like this to get a realistic feel of a certain city or culture. This is absolutely perfect for a somewhat weary traveler like me :) Is there a continuous updates list of all the places(restaurants/meals) you've visited in each country/province? That would be great if it's all listed in one area! :) Keep up the amazing work you do!
Thank you for the feedback Angel. I don't have any list, but that's a good idea, maybe I'll try to do that soon on the blog.

i find it funny that you liked it so much even though you haven’t been to the really nice and filled neighborhoods like gärtnerplatz or maxvorstadt, where are a lot more supermarkets, bars, restaurants, etc.
ps: no one likes spaten, everybody drinks augustiner or tegernseer
Micah is so cute.i just loved him watching you drinking the juice.its a great video and loved watching it.thanks for making and sharing the video.
I like the tours and think it enhances your food videos. I am always curious about the back story, the actual places and delving into neighborhoods which give the viewer context. I love it all!!!
this video is amazing, but as a german i am a little sad, that most people go to visit München (Munich) and the south of germany. You gotta go to the north of germany: Bremen, Oldenburg, Emden (especially the eastfresian region). Its a different culture over here, you will see untouched and beautiful nature and the food is amazing. We have Grünkohl (on season), Matjes, Schnippelbohnen, different varieties of fish and so on. There are tiny little villages with a lot of restaurants to visit like Greetsiel or Bad Zwischenahn. In summer, every city has a "Stadtfest" - a city festival where you will find a lot of street food, live music, and of course - local beer. Come here, you will not get disappointed!
I live in the south and i think that you have more untouched and beautiful nature here with the mountains
@@nadiapeters6565 but we have the islands 😛
@natalie storm do people in the south have it? 😂

I loved seeing Micah's wide eyed fascination with everything he was looking at.
I really like the walk to the park along with the social gathering. Germany is a beautiful country. It's great you can get refreshments and food in the park and the people are responsible in disgarding their trash.. The park is clean. Great tour
Micah wanted some apple juice. lol. he is so adorable. love your videos.
It was great to see your walk in Munich, I would love to see more of these it was very interesting, you should visit Argentina the grilled meat is amazing over there, and also Morocco its such a wonderful country specially Marrakech. Great video as always, thank you!! :D
Yes, please do neighborhood walks all places you go to. Very interesting, it's like I'm there enjoying in person.

High standard of living indeed. It's the 4th most livable city in the world Mark.
Quiet and peaceful neighbourhood which is good for kids. No wonder your son was enjoying it 😄
Keep living life to the fullest 👍
Oh, the beer garden! Beautiful, ready to go back for a visit!
The wife carried it inside and he carries it outside
I found a couple of things interesting about your neighborhood tour. Love the fact that in the beer garden they actually use glass mugs. That reduces the amount of trash incredibly, no paper or plastic cups. Fantastic!
The other thing that called my attention is how clean that neighborhood was. I live in Southern CA and to put it mildly, our cities have a lot to learn from the Europeans as to how to keep central neighborhoods clean. Our neighborhoods are absolutely disgusting and embarrassing, and I am talking about well-off hoods. We have all the homeless people and trash everywhere, gum on the sidewalks, you name it. Our cities do a very poor job with social services for the homeless and cleaning the streets.
München is such a peaceful, clean, beautiful city
Mark, you 've done brilliant on this vedio we're able to see local Marktes, architecture of the buildings and at last you were at the magnificent beer garden.I've been to Munich twice and also have had pork kncckle same restaurant as you.
Thanks Mark. I lived in Germany in Heilbronn (south Germany) for many years. I really miss living there, especially the Netto, Aldi and Lidl stores. Germany was the nicest and best place I ever visited in my life. I love it there. Thanks for the walk down memory lane Mark. One thing I suggest you try while there is something called a "Doner Kebap". It's not German, it's Turkish. It's a sandwich like thing made with Lamb (don't get the ones made from beef, Lamb is authentic). I know you will love it. I ate them almost every day when I lived there. Have a good one Mark, love your videos and please keep them coming.

Great look at Munich & A whole video with Micah!
Fruits, meats, cheese and Beer, Sounds good to me!
Hey Mark! the park at the beginning is not ment for the public. It says "Privatgrundstück" which means that it's private, I think it's just for the people who live in the buildings around. Great video though!
yeah, it's not really a park - in Munich it's a normal 'placeholder' in the middle of a building complex. If you start to call these hidden places parks, we would have thousands here :') the Englischer Garten and the Westpark are REAL parks
Thanks for letting me know. Yah I definitely did see that sign, but is it alright for anyone to walk through?
I went to Englischer Garten on another day, it was amazing. But it was too far from where I lived, so that's why it wasn't in this neighborhood walk.
Well, strictly speaking, if the owner of the area were to see you and know that you don't belong to any of the surrounding buildings, he would have the right to ask you to leave, but then again, most likely no one will really care if you just walk trough there.
One just shouldn't make this his regular place to hang out, celebrate or park his car or such.
Ayse Yal isn't it more about entering at your own risk and if something happens, you can't suit them. I mean, if a young family get kicked out of the private garden area while stolling around in the neighbourhood, than you know you're in Germany ;P haha no offence, just a joke, send you some greetings from Bodensee :D
I loved Munich! Thank you for taking back to one of my favorite places 👌🏼❤️
I loved the walk in Munich and would definitely want more of other towns too, for someone who has never been to certain places
It’s a good way to see what they look like and what they offer...I loved how clean the streets are puts London streets to shame, I would love to go to Germany it looks absolutely great!
