I used to watch too many of these luxurious CZcamsrs, showing expensive high end goods and travelling the world in luxury, I wanted to buy my first luxury bag too bad even though it was the last thing I needed… I stopped watching most of them and basically unsubscribed to others. Guess what I leaned owning a luxury bag isn’t going to make me happy, wearing brand new outfits every month isn’t my number one concern anymore, I started to appreciate my modest life and stopped caring about how expensive I look. Those vloggers really do turn us into big consumers, wasting our hard earned money on some unimportant stuff instead of focusing on priorities. Anyway each their own I just explained how I feel

She just doesn’t relate to the average woman. Most of us just can’t jump in our Range Rover down to Harrods for some bits and bobs. I subscribed to Lydia because of the video Hadassah Cordoba made about her. Right from the start, when she bullyied Haddassah to delete it, made me feel weird. But I enjoyed the content and though: why not give a second chance? Everybody deserves second chances. Well... She can curate her image all she wants, but the cracks are there for anyone to see.
How she manipulated the situation with the hairdresser in her video, that if you watch it, you will think she was in a situation that she could be the victim of some sorth of violence, it's honestly disgusting.
And we can see how brands are starting to jump ship. All the PRs and brand events/trips: gone. While her friends are thriving and geting all of it. How her "pickness" about how she only works with brands that she LOOOVES has come down to: gummy hair vitamins, teeth whitening strips and kitchen bowls.
For example, the picture for the bowl campaing was her pretending to eat tomatoes. Beatiful picture. But her followers know she does not eat them.
Or how she is now showing a mini kelly in all of her vlogs but never made an unboxing. But did the unboxing of the little scarf (i forgot the name). Like... we know that there is something fishy. You just need to watch and pay attention. And that is what audiences do.
If I were a FAN I would be insulted, to be honest. To be treated as so d*mb. The constant lying and pretending. How she is uncapable of receiveing any kind of criticism. To such a point that i am super duper curious to see how she will react to this video.

I am definitely not a fan of Lydia Millen - I only started to follow her a couple of years ago but as an older, more mature person ,I tend to be quite particular about who I subscribe to within the whole plethora of influencers out there on You Tube. It didn’t take me long to feel quite upset and almost angry after every video I watched of Lydia.I found a smugness and snobbery about her demeanour and just couldn’t figure out where the genuine side of her character was hidden and my dislike of her became increasingly intense. She came across as a manic consumer with a very inflated ego and in spite of her increasing luxurious lifestyle, never seemed to feel satisfied or grateful, often appearing to be depressed or droning on about subjects that were trying to draw on the sympathies of her subscribers.
The constant revamping of rooms in her home and the feeling that she was jealous of other highly successful influencers leading to ever increasing house makeovers and a ‘copy cat’ change of direction even purchasing the same breed of dog and brand new 4x4 vehicle like them, just underlined the fact that she comes across as very insecure and shallow. I seem to remember she received some criticism over getting Porter, her dachshund, as once she did,she showed little interest in him and treated him like any other expensive accessory she’s purchased - one that she got bored with after the initial excitement wore off.I hope she never has to face the day when,or if,her image and lifestyle ever hit hard times as I honestly think she would crumble. It follows that I unsubscribed from her channel as I’m not seduced by her obvious wealth, beauty, lifestyle or product advertorials.

Yes, I enjoyed this video and I follow Lydia. But I follow a lot of Influencers. I enjoy their content and use them to stay up to date with fashion, home decoration, new foods and vacation suggestions. I neither love or hate these people, I do not even know them, but I know how hard it is to be a working woman and I am happy for all of them, and their successes. Not sure why we have to come down on either side, can't we just enjoy the fruits of their labor. They are providing information and they have a right to their privacy. I am not sure I want to see Lydia looking slovenly, just to seem "real" to some people. I wear clean clothes every day and shower and put make up on everyday even when I am staying home. That is not unusual. Of course I do not wear my best clothing when I am washing the toilet or making tomato sauce. I watch Lydia and others to get an idea about outfit combinations and new make up products. That is all. I do enjoy her videos and do not care that she puts in a lot of work into curating them to perfection for us. Shouldn't she be making quality videos, isn't that the goal, making a good product? And in so doing, putting her best foot forward. We all to a certain degree put our best foot forward when we are in public, on a job interview, meeting our in-laws, on a date, talking to clients, or prospects. Why does anyone need to know who I am when I have my sweats on and my feet up watching TV with a bag of popcorn on my lap, relaxing on a Sunday watching football. Who wants to see that?

“Who is Lydia?” you ask?? “A beautiful, elegant woman or a dramatic, angry and upset woman behind the scenes?”
Ummm, how about BOTH? Honestly, this myth that is perpetuated that people/celebrities must ALWAYS be and behave perfectly otherwise they are ‘fake’ or ‘spoiled’ or cancelled?? It confounds me!! We ALL lose our shit once in a while. Especially if we are stressed, hurt or hormonal! And if most women are truly honest, when it comes to appearance, we are most particular about our hair. Did she behave badly? If it all went down as described, sure! But the comments here of self righteous people so quick to unfollow or judge her as evil because she had a meltdown is what I find more repugnant. Why? Because if most women are honest about who they are , they will know that they have had meltdowns or tantrums or experiences where perhaps they overreacted or lashed out at people…and are grateful that they are ‘nobodies’ enough that it was not broadcast for everyone else to judge. 🙄

English culture does not verbally abuse pregnant women, it can kill the baby. I'm not clucking over other women but I still walk behind prego women on the stairs in case they fall, so I can catch them.. She should've also offered to carry heavy things up the stairs for her, even if refused. Or get husband to do it. There's no excuse for that cruelty altogether and the woman could've reported her actually. I heard maybe Lydia can't have kids so just hated the woman for being pregnant, but invited her to her house anyway as a hair emergency, which would make sense but still be a hate crime. There's no excuse for tantrums from grown adults. Maybe she needs therapy but there's no excuse for abuse. The vengefulness of being Regina George and trying to get friends to cancel on the hairdresser is also wrathful and ugly.

I wasn’t there. Neither were you. Therefore, my comment was far more general than the (speculative) specifics here. My comment was based around the notion that women, particularly those in the limelight, MUST be without reproach at all times. That if they have a rare meltdown, or buckle under pressure or lash out - then they must be ‘fake’ or ‘two faced’ or ‘evil’ when in actual fact they are no more or less than human, same as the rest of us.

Nice way to gloss over verbal abuse, placing a helpless mother and baby at risk! If you want to live in a personality cult go ahead. It's common for certain mental disorders to tie into hormonal problems that can cause infertility and that is part of the reason I hope she seeks treatment. Her lovely sausage dog is what I watch her channel for and I think its helped her realise animals are more important than designer handbags ! Her content also has some nice country vibes which is enjoyable .I know she gets a lot of freebies but the level of items she buys on a daily basis is quiet shocking and can put out discontentment to have the latest designer this and that , well we dont need or want them cluttering up the place ! its more about people belittling influencers job as if it isnt even a job. no one is saying that they would work harder than someone who works three different jobs. its also very different to work in physical jobs than in an office kind of a job, and both can be very hard in different ways. if people wouldnt go out of their way to complain that being an influencer isnt a proper job then people wouldnt feel the need to defend their job, every single influencer has been belittled bc of their choice of career/job. maybe you need to widen your sources bc i see in my country also regular women being lifted up, but at the same time, its quite hard to do when not everyone wants to be online and on the show, like you are with influencing, hence it can also be focused on that. a young mum struggling to get by isnt necessarily someone who wants to be put on front page, its not always easy to find those people you want to highlight, in many different areas.

Too many times have I heard how hard they have it and that they are not taken seriously and yes they are allowed to complain the same as the rest of us about how tired they get but there are harder more stressful jobs that women are doing. They may not want to be front page of the newspaper but we do need to recognise in this world of social media that there are women working harder who never get a ‘like’ or a Pat on the back. i think its the combination of social media ofc, but also we have a culture of competing, jealousy and expectations to succeed, and especially women going against women. i think there needs to be work towards uplifting and supporting women, no matter their profession. maybe that way everyone could get their own praise, and admiration for their hard work. its kind of how we often leave feedback when we get bad service, but when its good we rarely give feedback as eagerly. we should work on that in general, something thats been said for years but still goes.

She was stunning with darker hair. People who dont like themselves, will try to down others. I wish her well, we all deserve the best life has to offer.

My first time in your chanel I'm loving you talking faster than me. I like a lot your neutral analysis. Ah, you have georgeus deer eyes!

I love Lydia's content and enjoy her vlogs. I think we need to spend more time focusing on the positive aspects of other people, as well as within ourselves! I have decided to focus on what I love versus what I don't and I am much happier because of it. I wish all YT the best as I would myself. Cheers

That said, we should not "cancel" or condemn those that share a different view than others about someone or something. That just spreads more negativity.

So between Josie and Lydia, who is copying who? I'm appalled by the huge similarities of their social media contents. Country life, gardening, same dogs, same cars etc.

I recently found both Lydia and Josie's channels on separate occassions, and while watching said, "these women are living the exact same life". I rather ennjoy watching both of them, giving us a glimpse into the life of luxury. However, it does seem difficult to maintain a high lifestyle and perfect image all of the time, which they seem to do quite well.

Thank you so much for such an interesting video. I’m a Lydia’s follower since less than a year and I really love her. Her videos have a great quality and, to me, she is so natural and charm. I can imagine she is no 100% same as in her private life, but I presume no one is when creating videos in social media. Hugs and kisses from Madrid (Spain) 🥰😘❤️

I may be mistaken about the Zimmerman dress but it was a designer white frothy dress, if she could just be more realistic it would convert to the screen, some of the things that Lydia must have from designer everything dish washing liquid to her beloved dogs collar and blanket, designer designer all the way, such a cliche.

To be clear, Lydia is not as "self-made" success story as you seem to imply and cleverly left out how her family is well off, so she could afford to invest in getting her blog off the ground with no other pressing problems to worry about. Also, I noticed you left out all the Ibiza stuff where Lydia admits herself was a bad time in her life.

You also left out that her father had to sign a guarantee in order for LEM & Ali to buy that house.

I watched her for a couple years before unsubscribing. I started to feel she was not authentic. (Click bate that she was called out for in comments but the click bate continues.) There were a lot of coincidences where she was copying other influencers, her dogs, her garden, her hot house and finally a clearly paid for video about how rich she was and highlighted her riding horses, which I had never seen in her videos. (Again mimicking an influencer who was a recognized, accomplished, competitive horse woman on a legitimate horse circuit.) I’m not interested in drama, personally or in others and have never dug for or followed up on hints of drama but I started to see a pattern of victim hood in Lydia. This may seem petty but she is no where near as articulate as other influencers and her reaction to things and situations are shallow.

You can change the playback speed to 0.75x which slows it down a bit
