STOCK BOX Doll Customizing: Red the Lesser Panda

- The cute and playful Red is the final addition to our STOCK BOX S2 family! Although this doll went in a direction I wasn’t expecting, I had a great time creating her. Also, I found out a bit too late that the base doll is “Deerla” from the Ever After High “Forest Pixies” line--not an ‘Enchantimals’ doll after all. Oops! Please enjoy, and thank you for watching!

Hello all!
The critique lobbied at my lastest STOCK BOX doll seems fair. Thank you for all the comments-- you all picked up on something. I think I should let you in on a secret.
.
I made Red and edited the video in the final moments of the 9th month of my pregnacy. I really wanted to give you guys one last custom doll video before clocking out for a while. I was hoping to end on a strong note, but I don't have much strength left, it seems. I promise I put in my best effort despite the circumstances. Btw, I gave birth yesterday. (I've scheduled an official announcement video to release this weekend with more details, but felt I should explain myself here as well haha).
.
So there's my 'excuse' haha. Although, I hope you agree that even if Red isn't the most professionally made custom doll on my channel, the video itself was fun and entertaining to watch!
HOLD UP-
omg congrats!!
Congratulations!!!! I had no idea. And despite all of the constructive criticism I STILL love this doll and we adore you and your work ❤️ this is my third time watching. Enjoy your time with your family ❤️❤️❤️

As cute and wonderful as I personally find this character, I can't help but feel that you, Dollightful were unhappy with this project. And I don't want you to do things out of obligation as opposed to because it makes you happy. Please don't feel obligated to do any prompt or anything you'd rather not be doing.

Yeah this one felt kind of... forced? She even mentioned in the video that she had to remind herself to stick to the red panda theme...
I agree
An amazingly insightful, intelligent and compassionate comment. Please feel free to speak for me anytime. Best wishes.
THIS THIS *THIS*! an audience vote is all well and good, but if inspiration is hard to come by I'd rather see something simple and fun as opposed to something the artist feels dissatisfied with. I'd even have ben alright with waiting a bit, though if I'm right about the announcement Catherine is taking about,. I can see why she chose to rush a little.
Agreed, I love watching her make dolls but she should be able to do it as inspiration dictates
the doll might have been "less professional" but weird little girls like this one make the world go round, so thank you for creating her
HUNTER PFP OMGSH- HE’S MY FAVORITE 😍
As a 9nce wierd little girl that made me very happy to read.
Shes really cute, but i personally would have put white eyebrows and changed the cheek dots to be white triangular stripes so that they look more like the animal's markings!
I really love her design and the hood is so cute! Can't wait to see season 3 and congrats on the baby!!!
I also REALLY wanted white eyebrows, but she turned out cute either way so
Honestly she looks adorable as a red panda cosplayer! She has a natural, but very innocent playful look to her. She seems warm and cozy too. I don't mind the fact that she isn't actually a red panda.
@@flowers3645constructive criticism isn't hate
@iridiumSerpent sorry
I don't think it's necessarily the pompoms but the colour palette as a whole. I think the high contrasted pompons and saturated blues clash with the reds. But I really like the idea of a child dressing as a red panda in clothing they made themselves. I wonder if giving her white face markings instead of red would have made the connection more obvious, or would they have just distracted the eyes. But I really love her fluffy panda-hood!
Yeah it's very light compared to the darkish palette
I honestly don’t like it I think she got a bit carried away with me out for your red panda on it sooo some people might like it but
I was a little surprised by this one. The vibe was off. I hope everything is okay. I didn't need it to be like a recreation of the red panda from Turning Red, but I think I expected something more playful? The sort of literal cultural interpretation was interesting, but it seemed more like watching the making of a museum figure this time, rather than a cartoony one. That could have come from a place of cultural respect, so I don't want to critique the idea harshly. I did prefer the Turning Red color palette, though. Bold reds, pinks, and the signature white fur. I didn't understand red dots representing white fur, but artistic moods vary, and though this may not have been my favorite doll she's ever made, it still turned out cute and was a neat video to watch.
maybe cream/beige dots?
yeah no i agree completely but as far as im aware the red dots are a cultural/ religious thing? but still, i really wish she stuck to a palette or style as she usually does
This is a beautiful doll! However, maybe the pom poms on the neckline weren’t the move? the ones on the ends work fantastically! Over all LOVE the doll!!
I agree!
Same l think a simpler necklace or no necklace would be better
Feels more clown-ish than appropriate Nepali fashion
I agree with this too! Not sure if I feel like the pom poms are a little saturated compared to the shirt fabric, but that's nothing a little bit of pastels wouldn't fix
the shirt reads clown just a little bit
I honestly love the clashy, handmade aesthetic of her clothing.
It’s different from your usual style for sure, but it really gives her a lot of character.
Honestly this isn’t my favorite doll from Catherine, but Red genuinely is still cute. She reminds me of a kid who’s mom gave up and let her dress herself in her favorite pieces of clothing. She’s not the most cohesive, but she’s adorable. And, I mean, pregnancy.
Honestly I kind of love how Red is just a little girl who dresses up as a red panda. There’s something distinctly more childlike and whimsical in her attire. Even the Pom poms feel like something she added to her outfit because she liked how flufffy they are. For some reason she just has my heart. I love her!!
Like she makes them herself and is proud of them :)
Tbh I hated how she made a child have extremely large hips lol. She does not look like a child
@@sharksareamazing9199 I was a child with huge hips? ;( I mean like massive hips and long legs. Luckily my dad told me growing up to not be conscious about my bod, because everyone’s bodies comes in so many different shapes and sizes.

@@sharksareamazing9199 I was a kid with large hips!?!😭 It was genetics. I couldn't help it🤨
Personally whilst I loved the idea of a red Panda doll i feel like despite everything I cannot really recognize the influence of one. Like you said especially indian clothing has such wide variety i feel like a garment made out of various tones of reds would have suited her better though i suppose one can only do so much with the fabric they got on hand
Agreed
Agreed. I feel like the eyebrows should have been white. Whenever she showed the photo and then immediately started doing brown eyebrows i was shocked! I know shes not a straight up red panda but, the only thing that looks influenced is the scarf + tail. Cute doll on its own but the red panda influence is not very obvious.
I agree. I don't hate the way she came out, but to look at her, my first thought wouldn't be a Red Panda. She reminds me more of that phase of Scene Fashion, circa 2006-8, where everyone wore bright blue cookie monster hoods with the hand pockets.
I think adding some childish face paint and taking another look at her top would go a very long way in bringing some of that red panda influence back in.
@@litleangelbrook To me she reads more like a red fox lol, but I can see what you mean!
@@katiechudars33 yeah, she just borth down a child.
That's the excuse
Honestly I think this doll is cute ! The whole point of stock box is to not know how it will turn out - sometimes things go amazingly well and sometimes they don’t, but that’s what stock box is about. Some people seem to be forgetting that this is all for fun ! Katherine I hope you aren’t disappointed with this doll, it’s a crazy and fun project that I think still turned out well !
Congratulations on giving birth ! Take a hiatus as long as you need, the doll customising community will always be here when you get back.
Exactly my opinion! Nothing on this channel is perfect, especially with the experimental dolls in the stock box series. I don't mind the doll's confusing design or the fact that her clothes are roughly made. I think it adds to the playful and childish look of the doll. She's just so cute and fluffy that it doesn't matter to me!
I AM SHOCKED IN THE MOST PLEASANT OF WAYS, I NEVER EXPECTED TO EVEN HEAR OF NEPAL IN MY DOLLIGHTFUL VIDEO WHAT, This is such a blessing to see Thank you so much for this from a Nepali girl who has been obsessed with your videos since I was in Primary, the Nepali influences were very nice of you to consider and as an avid fan of clown core the pom poms are absolutely adorable ! I'm in love with Red ! she's such a fun character design, I wish you a steady recovery and congratulations on your baby !!
We must be about the same age, as I've also been a fan since then! Greetings from america!
Man, I would have loved to see the snow leopard. I think they would have fit really well with the lineup. Perhaps in the future! Amazing work as always!

@@superoriginalusername. i think its a bot, i've seen a lot of comments exactly like that one
@@juniisdead1321 They're all comments from that person. Lmfao.
Unfortunately people have been asking for the snow leopard since at least November. You'd think a doll who had been requested for so long would make it into a video, but I guess not.
Same I really wanted to see a snow leopard doll
I love the hood, tail, and her eyes so much! Unfortunately, I have to agree with a few commentors who said the doll felt disjointed. You said you were under a time crunch, and she definitely shows that. I feel like a more cohesive color palette could have helped. Maybe a red, brown, and black theme with a pop of a bright or two rather than all of the brights? I think you do wonderful things with colors and this one just missed the mark for me.
Again, I love so many aspects of this doll, they just feel a bit much all together. I hope you have more time for the next doll! I'm looking forward to the next stockbox series! ^_^
I wouldn't be surprised if the appointment she had was an ultrasound. She's got total pregnancy brain rn, about to give birth
@@BentleyS6336 I dont want to assume anything about a stranger's health, it's just a stock box video. Those have a tendency to go off the rails regardless, lol.
@@Shortbread1008 I don't think it's assuming, then again it might be. I don't know if pregnancy brain is an actual condition, or just a word people came up with for having a foggy mind some days

@@ivywoodward6066 I think you're under the wrong comment haha
The Where the Wild Things Are reference made her personality bounce right out for me. She's so different from your usual dolls that I had a hard time seeing her but I think she's one of my favorites now
I think she’s adorable!! She really does look like a child playing amongst the other wild creature dolls! It’s like she’s stumbled through into their world Narnia style during a play adventure. 10/10
I must admit, I was expecting this doll to turn out completely different. Throughout the video I was surprised at some of the choices made and I probably wouldnt have made them myself, but I really love the way it came out. I think the hood and tail really pulled it all together. I think I was expecting the doll itself to be a red panda, and when the faceup didnt get white spots, I was a little disappointed but nonetheless, I love the way you captured the childish essence of this doll. The oversized sort of top heavy vibe is to die for
this is exactly how i feel! it is definitely a departure from dollightfuls traditional style but I feel like the way it turned out is still really cool.
I was thinking the same thing! I couldnt believe she passed up the opportunity for chunky white eyebrows like red pandas have!
honestly i disagree, i think this just isnt a good doll
it seems very cluttered with its sources of inspiration and the design DOESNT read as red panda without the coat which is very unfortunate :/ i was rlly expecting a red panda doll and im a little dissapointed we didnt get one
@@yumekoslefttoenail6746 I understand this. I want to be positive, but I'm a bit confused. I'm going to make a red panda custom and video now. Her version ended up being a cute doll, but if I saw it without an explanation, I wouldn't think, "This is a red panda doll!" Since I want to see one, I will make one myself. 😂 I still love this channel and will continue watching. I just didn't fully understand the look.
@@yumekoslefttoenail6746 it felt very rushed lol
For the red panda being lost for a while I do enjoy how the final product came out. It is in the spirit of stock box! I adore the idea of a little girl trying to fit in with her fantastical/imaginary friends. Going on adventures in a kids cartoon style.
Congratz on the baby!!
Protip, using _plastic_ parts for the joints would help a lot. A company called Hobby Base puts out really useful joints for this sort of stuff. The ones that would work are the Disc type joints, which contains both double and single jointed discs. The company also puts out ball and socket joints, ball-shaped universal joints and even full on blank 6-inch dolls called Sozai-kun and Sozai-chan.
And Turning Red just came out, so this custom is both amazing AND topical
I was thinking the same thing
I just commented that 😂
Bruh don't steal my idea
@@ITZABIRD i don’t think someone can steal an opinion. everyone thought about turning red
When I saw the word red panda I instantly thought of turning red
Her face came out cute and the hood was a really cool idea, but if I’m being honest this one didn’t quite hit for me😅 I think I was hoping for a little more red-pandyness, and the top felt a little clunky & out of place. I think the rushed and half-job nature of this custom kind of showed, I think especially because she’s so smol. At the end of the day though, she is quite a cutie!
I kinda agree, like i wished that maybe she'd have leant more into a hybrid panda and human doll with clothing that complimented showing off the cool panda stripes and colours :")
Yeah I have to agree. This felt very much like it was half baked and made by necessity with no real, how do I put it? Light behind the eyes? She doesn't feel very inspired or cohesive, and I can't help but feel not much fun was had while making her.
I cant help but feel that dollightful is losing her passion for these videos, or perhaps she is just working on a big project and cant put all her focus onto these smaller ones right now. It just feels like she is maybe feeling pressured into putting out these videos without any real inspiration or passion for them any more? Idk the last couple have just felt rushed and over all just kinda.. off? I could be wrong though.
I mean she’s in her third trimester of pregnancy, she’s bound to be busy
@@helenfinch124 ! I had no idea she was pregnant..??
The SE Asian style is really delightful and the hood is just the cutest thing I've ever seen. Congratulations on the birth!
Second time watching this doll being painted. First time, I couldn't put my finger on what about the doll that bothered me. Previous dolls were more anthro, that's what I was used to/expecting. Second watch, I watch I can see what it is about the doll that was a bother for me. It's the shirt. Everything else was fine, it was her shirt that was bothering me xD. Clash of those colors and pom poms. More of a circus vibe if anything.
I don’t know if I’m being crazy or not, but this video definitely has a rushed feeling. If you ever need to take a break, don’t be afraid to. We love your videos but your wellness comes first always. Hope you’re doing okay Katherine ❤️

Edit: I think I should clarify that I made this comment without knowing about Kat's pregnancy. Like. I hadn't heard anything about it. So this is coming from a purely artistic perspective.
Overall, I really love the concept behind this doll -- she's cute, she's original, she has personality. I'm just...not sure I love her as a "red panda" doll.
I'm really conflicted here, because I think making her an actual red panda would have solidified the concept more. If she has a tail and her legs are shaded to represent the actual fur pattern, then why the hood and the fake-paw boots? She doesn't scream "red panda" to me.
However, on her own...I don't like the way she looked until you put the hood on her. She's cute and all, but the quilted pattern on her top combined with the super saturated colors of the pom-poms, on top of a primarily dark black/brown color palette, made her look really crowded. First, everything on her was too dark, and then bright carnival colors were slapped on top. The rest of her is too simple while her outfit is really busy. And yet, even though I feel weird about the hood, it somehow balances it out? I don't know, it's like the red is the perfect medium between the bright quilted pattern/pom-poms and the earthy browns and black of her hair and face. I DO like how her hood makes her look younger with how big it is on her, and it gives her lots of personality.
I just don't think she fits the prompt -- however, I do like her on her own. That's all I have to say on that.
I agree with everything you said, came here to say this but you found the best way to put it already so I'm not gonna repeat it! I do think the pompoms made her look to clown-ish and a bit ridiculous too but yeah my main issue is too that it doesn't really seems to fit the prompt.
czcams.com/video/r_G0xPVSUEI/video.html
yep, agreed! also this might be nitpicking, but i don't like the eyebrows and hair colour. the eyebrows are much closer to a red panda fur colour, and they look a bit weird with the very dark hair from close up. i wish she would have sticked to the eyebrows' colour for the hair so the character would resemble a red panda at least a tiny bit more - or if not, commit to darker eyebrows. also the body doesn't look child-like to me to be honest, because of the body mods
I totally agree with you when you put the hood on her (Great job on the btw) kinda looked like she had a skinned red panda coat to me. But the doll is cute tho.
Totally agree, the shading and then having the fake hood really bugs me, and the shirt is WAY to much.
I’d love the doll as a sort of Asian representation but it’s meant to be a red panda and fails imo
Omg, I love the idea of a group of mythical-ish creatures just adopting a random child. It's so cute 😍
Definitly got a "where the wild things are" vibe from this video. I like to think she is a kid who is slowly turning into a red panda, from interactiong with the other creatures.
Story:
Red is a lost kid who plays in the forest. She meets these magical creatures that take care of her. Unfortunately thers is a catch to magic. The forset is slowly transform her, also she already had a childish obsession with Red Pandas.
i love the doll, katherine, the face is very fitting and the hood is adorable. but i feel like the shirt is what’s bringing it down. i think it would’ve been more effective if you stuck to only warm colors and maybe green, since red pandas are, well, red and they hang out in forests. the blue patches stick out a little strangely, although i think patches are a good call. maybe you could imitate red panda markings with patches? and i think it would be better with pom poms only around the bottom edge.
Agreed, plus, something about this doll feels off. I think you nailed it with the shirt being a little weird. Maybe the pom poms too? I feel like the entire outfit could be redone to fit the theme better.
@@changab280 it kinda felt rushed... idk
@@loverboy6149 it feels very rushed, I've had this feeling for a lot of customs after the dragons, some she really nailed, like the alien or the macho man ( the previous custom) I hope it's cause she has something bigger planned and not cause of losing motivation for this series
@@loverboy6149 so did the last two, I wonder if she's as invested as she used to be🤔
@@loverboy6149 while i agree that the outfit doesnt fit, the point of stockbox is to not have a plan. i think the rushed feeling is actually just her having no plan
seeing the process, you can tell she was super rushed and her planning wasn't really thought out or executed well, and I think her red panda-ness was lost in her actual design - however, the end product is cute and childlike and the fur accessories really call back to her being based off a red panda. I'd love to see you give this idea another go ^_^

I freaking love this doll, probaly she's my favorite doll of this series. I don't think her body mods are one of your better creations, but who cares? There's a fluffy childish cute red panda outfit covering them! And, this outfit is one of the cutest things ever, very creative and really look like a clothe that a children would love because of the mix of the colors and styles! The pompons really look like something that she sewed up herself because she love how colorful they look; even if they are'nt the most matching thing in the outfit they really look cohesive! Childs don't care about "aestheticaly right" in an outfit! I loveee this red panda girl!
I like the way she looks honestly, she is small enough to look like a kid and her outfit sells that childlike innocents even more. She really feels like the “a kid lost in the woods and met magic” trope which I personally love.
I wanted to say how much I love this community. So far the most liked comments are ones that have an overall negative view on how the doll turned out, but is said in such a respectful way. Instead of bashing Dollightful, her community is letting her know this was just not one of their favorite projects from her. And that’s okay! Every artist has well received pieces and some not so well received pieces.
Thank you Katherine for letting people feel comfortable with letting you know that they don’t vibe with the doll and for taking criticism and critiques in stride. The responses have been largely compassionate and understanding, and our beloved artist was so gracious in receiving them and sharing her motivations with us. I have come to love this doll!
I would agree with you, but it's upsetting to see so many negative reviews on such an adorable doll. I feel like if I were dollightful, I would be very overwhelmed by the amount of criticism. And not to mention, the fact that she was pregnant during the video.
I think she turned out really cute! Love her face--it has a classic Disney feel to it. I think the clothes are really cute, but I do agree the pompoms inadvertently made it more clown-like. For me I think it's the collar. They're so tightly packed there it feels like a costume ruff rather than a shirt detail. If you took out every other one, kind of mimicking the bottom, do you think that might make it feel fashionable?
Yeah, the collar makes it overwhelming. But I LOVE the pompoms at the bottom!

So cute!
I think white pompoms would Def fit more imo, they'd tie further into the red panda design by adding the white accents they have, since the final doll didn't have much of that red, black and white contrast that red pandas have. I still think she's lovely! Just in the vid ya mentioned it so thought I'd share my thoughts.
Oh that's a really good idea!
I think that would have been really cute too
I love this channel! Never fails to make me smile 😊😁. Hope you have a great day!
oof i can't tell if i like this or not. The overall effect of the doll is actually pretty charming, even tho i dislike a lot of the individual decisions. The pom poms are definitely too much, they're too saturated and you used too many colors. i think if you'd used a few less in just one or two colors it would have worked better. the way you only thickened her thighs on the outside gives her such a massive thigh gap it's actually comical, though this was thankfully covered up by the pants. not the most cohesive color scheme i've ever seen you do, but the hat and the tail are definitely the saving grace here. The idea behind the whole thing is pretty intriguing, but it just makes me want to see what you could do with this idea if you actually let yourself sketch it out.
Agreed
Ok, I'm agree with u. I think that, she need more accurate clothes with a most accurate colors.
yeah way too many colors. i dont like the shape of the shirt for this doll either tbh.. i think a smaller shirt would really help the silhouette with the scarf + pants being so large
there seems to be a lot of beautifully distinct colors in Nepalese culture , so i think the use of an abundance of coloration is fine; but the pom poms definitely do not fit.
they’re pretty, but too much of high saturation and again make the dolls shirt look more clown-like.
i know it’s stock box and there isn’t planning ahead and usually dolls aren’t as detailed but i feel like the concept of a Nepalese inspired doll could have been executed a bit better with more time and detail.
As if these dolls don't already have comical thigh gaps 🤣
i personally feel like the overall aesthetic of the doll should have been more like the hood, with more subtle south asian style influences here and there
still a very cute doll, and it came together much better in the end. really captured a child-like essence with a lot of the design choices

I honestly love this doll and some people may disagree but I think it is perfect for a red panda doll. I think you did an amazing job
As someone currently 2 weeks from giving birth, I totally understand the drain it puts on you. No surprise there was some rough going with this doll. She still came out super cute, if a little more... haphazard? than your usual work. Frankly I'm impressed you got this up at all; I've been on leave from work for the last two weeks and I'm still so tired all the time. Honestly the only thing I would change would be the pompoms since they don't match with the colors of the shirt, but if you contextualize her as a child playing pretend, it still kinda works.
Quilter here! Not insulted but definitely had the “oh honey no” thought as you picked the hardest way possible to sew little squares together. 😂😂😂
I think the angled patching plus the relatively large pompoms is what gave it the slight circus vibes (maybe also the bright colors of the pompoms?) but overall it’s great!
Agreed. Maybe if the pompoms were matching colors closer to the shirt it would look so obvious. Though the hoody helps it
PLEASE I LOVE HER SO MUCH. I think her outfit is so cute and next to the other dolls she looks so little and wild! She gives me a warm happy feeling :)
I really like this doll. The body mods did look a little odd, but the oversized clothing saved it! The big poofy pants may be my favorite clothing article youve made to date - the poof, the black, the bright detail stitching - just solid vibes. I would have probably gone a different direction with the top than you did, but I think once you added the furry hood it came together and worked.
Congrats on your little one!
I'll be honest. By itself I hate that top. However, with the scarf I actually think it works. The completed doll looks better than the individual parts.
Hate is maybe a strong word?
@@LePezzy66 the top is a strong choice... It deserves a strong word
@@LePezzy66 it is a strong word, unfortunately I meant it. The pom poms were probably not the right move. The doll looks fantastic though.
personally i do definitely think the shirt distracts from... a majority of the doll. the diamond pattern feels clown-like in itself & the pompoms make it more severe... however, she is your doll :) if youre happy with her, go wild! i don't make customs so my opinion is like a half grain of salt lmaoo
EDIT: the idea of them all being monsters and red being this strange child they just sort of adopted is so fun
I can definitely see where people criticising this are coming from but this I probably one of my favourite dolls you’ve ever made! If you look at her as “the red panda doll,” she’s not the best, but seeing her as a little girl who just really love red pandas, she’s perfect. She’s super cute and the vibe she brings to the group is amazing
First i was like "meh...nop" with the outfit, but the more details you added the better it get, it's giving "poor mountain child playing with scrappy fabric" in the best way possible. Reminded me of some clothes we have in the mountains of South America 💕 i love it. It's one of your best dolls in my opinion.
as a south asian, (i’m from north india), i think the pants and bright color palette are certainly representative of our culture! however, i feel like that quilted look and jacket with the pompoms wasn’t really my favorite in the representation department, the colors definitely clash instead of being bright and colorful
in my opinion, there were many styles of nepali/indian fashion that could of been better, but the doll like always is beautiful no matter what
i do love the addition of the bindi, when i saw it i screamed because i was so excited to see it
I'm so glad to read this! I sort of felt the same way- I wanted that beautiful Indian pink, the Nepali orange. Pogga, am I right that red bindi always represent that the woman is married? Or no?
@@solitaryflower normally yes!! but as a kid i wore bindi sometimes for occasions, i cant speak for other indians but thats how my family did it!!
Congratulations on the baby!! We all completely understand that this doll must have been difficult to make considering you were probably only a couple weeks off giving birth! Have the most wonderful time with your husband and baby!! We'll always be supporting you!!
where does she say that she had a baby?

WAIT WHAT?
This video is a good example of "trust the process"
watching this again after 7 months and she’s so much cuter than I remembered????
I know from relatives that red bindi’s are typically worn by married individuals. Same with how a bride is to wear a red Sari. The color red is typically associated with love and passion. I’ve also heard of it referred to as a sindoor. But my aunties and grandfather and mom grew up in west India so things may be different of culture and traditions and a chance things have changed since when they were young. I figure with her being a red panda it’s no big deal but I figured Atleast it may be interesting to know bindi color and colors in general have meanings. It alway amused me learning new thing like this about my relatives culture and how my mom grew up
i wear bindis sometimes, but mostly they're the store-bought kind and they're never red(im 14) but my grandma wears a red bindi every day. my mom doesn't like wearing them tho so she doesn't, but her's r usually colourful. im from a mostly progressive family tho, i think that's just how my family does it
Yeah I wonder if she knew the meaning of the bindi or not? Because it’s odd if a child character is wearing a bindi that symbolises marriage 😂
i was gonna point out the same thing. a little disappointed she didn’t research these things beforehand
other parts of asia wear forehead markings/jewels. in china, we have huadian. these can range from simple dots to intricate flowers, birds, etc. they are purely ornamental. i think it wouldve been neat if shed gone with something similar to that and not a bindi specifically.

I think the way the doll's clothes looking thrown together is absolutely perfect for this doll. It reminds me of a little girl being fascinated and obsessed with red pandas and wanting to "be" a red panda. I understand not everyone wants a thrown together and unplanned doll video. But after seeing the movie Turning Red, i think this is just too cute to be upset about
i wouldn't say unplanned, that's the point of stock box
mm therian
I personally love this doll, it's quite different from what you usually make but it's so unique and colorful!!! The red panda hat and harlequinesque coat are sooo adorable
I’m just now realizing the pink fabric would’ve made the outfit so much cuter if it was a different sort of look. I’m not really obsessed with this one like I am with the others but it’s a stock box lmao- I love the ideas though! The execution of her outfit though I’m not crazy over. At least we all had fun and can’t wait to see the next even if it takes a long time
I'd love to think Red is their adopted daughter who wants to be a monster animal herself and her many moms are encouraging her imagination. This needs to be a series now, I'd watch the heck out of it.
That’s a cute idea. Or maybe they’re more of older sister figures, taking care of each other.
*cough* *cough*
Steven Universe *cough*
I mean… fanfic got you covered(?) I have yet to see poly lesbian moms yet but I've seen the rough idea

saaaaaaaaame!!!
I love her! The concept of a little girl wearing a red panda accessories is adorable. However maybe white pompoms would suit her better. Like the white on the red panda.
i love how you took the prompt in a completely different way than i expected! i absolutely adore the results!
I guess it’s because we’re more used to seeing mystical creatures with your art she is very cute and I love the hoodie scarf tactic you used
This was an interesting rollercoaster to watch. I must say, the body mods do look a little awkward? Only curving the thighs and nothing else does make it look a little bit odd. The idea of a kid dressing up as a red panda is brilliant, but I feel like the colour palette on this one was going a lot of different places at once. The pompoms were definitely not needed, at least around the neck. And in regards to the bindi, I'm not the most culturally-educated but part of me wants to say that i don't think a child character would have one of those? I'm not sure. But otherwise this was really interesting to watch!! Compared to the other stock box vids, this was very much like watching trails of thought play out in motion. The others came together very easily, so this was a fascinating difference :OOO And I look forward to this mystery announcement too!
I knew a few child friends who wore bindi so I feel that aspect of the doll alright. Though maybe a white bindi could’ve referenced the white fur? Or maybe white eyebrows
It’s kind of ironic considering Turning Red has been released a week ago! Very excited to see how it ends up!
I was thinking about that actually! Maybe she did it on purpose
Its def populuar bcuz of that.
@@idfkk she probably started before turning red got released, doll customizing usually takes multiple months
@@idfkk If it was, I imagine she mightve gone for a Chinese style instead of Nepali. The polls chose the animal theme anyhow

SHES SO CUTE
Honestly this is one of my favorite dolls you've made! Looking at her just makes me happy. Thank you for creating!
I was really surprised seeing that you made her Nepali, I thought you’d go with a East Asian aesthetic considering turning red, but as a Nepali person it made me really happy to see some representation
Ok I know it may be anoying, but I actually love this episode because it reminds me of your Nova and Nyx experiments. Like, I get that they had issues you wanted to ignore, but those are so fun to watch! Like, yes, totally, redoing what you want eight times is completely relatable. I do it on my own stuff CONTSTANTLY, and its so fun to see an actual professional brainstorm like the rest of us do. It's not a mistake, it's illustrative stream of thought!
I like that she also shows us her mistakes and the times when she's just winging it, it makes us feel a lot better about our mistakes, because no matter how Profesional you are, they still happen
i think she turned out really cute !! the only thing that makes her outfit feel clown-ish is the pompoms, maybe removing them or using pompoms that go with the colour palette would have been better ^_^
loved this doll! her aesthetic was so cute. childlike, innocent, and full of wonder. like a little girl who is obsessed with red pandas and is always playing pretend! i love the “where the wild things are” idea at the end, it’s so cute to think about.
you did a fantastic job- especially so late in your pregnancy!!
Personally, I love the idea of everyone just kinda adopting this cute human child that dresses like an animal into their group. Like- they know she’s a human, but they let her think they don’t know.
what a charming and fitting story to go with her. ^_^
I’d just like to say that this is the first doll I’ve ever seen come from you that has been slightly controversial on how much the community likes it, which is absolutely amazing. You make bangers after bangers one after another, and I positively love it. This doll was very cute! I will agree that it isn’t your best doll, but then again you’ve made some pretty amazing dolls, so that’s not saying much about the skill level of it. Again, I absolutely love this doll, just like all the others, keep it up! She’s so cute ❤️
her old wendigo doll had a lot of controversy around her
@@xo.taylormay Well, that was less about the quality/looks of the doll. But you're right
Just watch her other vids, they're good,
She was about to give birth, id be hard to do that while having a newborn child on the way. Im not surprised it’s not her best.
@@Solarcai1293 About to give birth?? She's only a couple of months in lol
So stinking cute. Those little paws are adorable!!
the fact that dollightful is basiclly making it a tutorial thinking that we could do it. I can't even make a heart without second guessing💀
At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about her. I loved all the aspects of her custom, but it felt a bit, I don’t know, disjointed?
However, seeing her in the line up next to all the other dolls really accentuated all the awesome and cute aspects, and it pushed me over into loving her. Great job as always!!
Same!!
czcams.com/video/r_G0xPVSUEI/video.html
I love everything but that top..... I like the patchwork idea, but on such a small scale (especially with this smaller than usual doll) it overwhelms her. I think the quilting idea would work really well on a skirt! Maybe for a regular sized doll? Also, the pom poms were too big for her. If Red were human sized, those pom poms would be grapefruit sized. I think a simple black jersey top with some delicate embroidered or painted details would serve your purpose well. Now, obviously these are just my opinions. If you love every bit of Red to the moon a back, then that's all that matters!! I absolutely adore her sweet face and hat. Very big "innocent child-like wonder" vibes. ❤️❤️❤️
very much agree with your idea about the shirt
The doll is adorable and your efforts to give us content is truly so thoughtful! thank you so much for your hard work and congratulations for your precious baby 💗
Her outfit is specifically one of my favorites it’s just so adorable
i feel like this one just didn't land the way you wanted and it showed. i feel it! not every doll can be a certified club banger.
As much as I adore fluffy mammals, I'd love to see you do some "weirder" animals. A kangaroo or spider could be interesting, though they'd need a decent amount of leg modifications each
A spider with 8 doll legs will be hilarious, I love it :D
@@vagiapl yeah, the spider in particular would need a LOT of modifications. The easiest way to get the 8 limbs would probably be 6 arms and 2 legs (drill and thread), but I feel like it wouldn't be very... spidery? Reminds me more of a Hindu deity. Adding extra legs, particularly if you were to go for all of them being articulated, would be painful
@@vagiapl yeah and I'm 100% sure Dollightful has 8 doll legs laying around, like shes just that type of customizer x)
I wonder if she’s use Wynona who’s already a spider or make her own spider doll 👀
@@bugbear2357 there is a spider monster high doll so who knows, Katherine has done pretty intense mods before

She is super adorable!!
I love your work, and I admire that your going outside the box with the south East Asian aesthetic. but I’d say this one definitely felt a little chaotic. And that’s totally fine, your giving yourself a hard task of not being able to sketch out the concept. I agree with the comments that maybe keep the color palette to warmer tones with no Pom poms. Can’t wait for your next project!
The hat and tail were charming and enviable. I was thinking of her as more of a Red Panda spirit, who's better at blending in with humans than her companions.
I loved
seeing them together, they remind me of groups of cool friends that always have a member younger than the rest and is the joy of the group, that would be red for sure
I love it! This doll certainly is cute, and I like the effect of the child playing dress-up amongst real mystical creature.
I love this doll! Her face is so so adorable, and the little paws look incredible! I think the clown vibe is coming strongly from the diamond pattern of her coat, to look like a harlequin doll when the pom poms are added. Maybe if the pom poms were incorporated onto a satchel instead of the coat, they would read less clown? Edit: Because I don’t think it’s the coloring of the pom poms, even if they matched the rest of the doll with red, black, or white, they would still look like harlequin motley, a la harley quin
SUPRISE! I am the funniest YTer evah!!!! Just kidding, it was no surprise. Everybody knew already. HAHAHHAHA!!!! That was an amazing joke (it was real talk though). WAWAWAWAWA!!!! Good afternoon, dear clai
*Not hate just realization’s *
I love dollightful and all her dolls but I feel this is a doll she didn’t really wanna do and I feel like it showed tremendously in this doll I feel like it is one of her lower dolls in her works of art but still is very unique and thought out and loved
I felt the same way. The dolls cute and all but it felt rushed and like she wasn't really into the concept. It was kinda disappointing since it didn't feel like a dollightfull video. ( no hate or anything, I love dolllightfull )
I felt the red panda was only picked and voted because of Turning Red. Personally I would of loved to see something else. I didn't see the full list that was able to be voted onl
@@EeveelutionStorm I don't watch her much but, when I do I kinda agree, I would of thought she had more then red and white to look more like them. Then have kinda foxish raccoonish look to it but, still have the south Asia influence though but, I can tell she was mosr likely rushed or feel like she didn't want to do it.
@@EeveelutionStorm Awww, now that's understandable completely.
She’s so cute!
Red is so cute! Am very used to seeing the more straightforward half animal girl even though those are also amazing, so it was refreshing to get a more symbolic take on the "Animal X" doll idea. Sure the doll felt a little rushed compared to your usual, but honestly this felt more like how it feels being a casual doll customizer balancing lots of other life stuff. The doll has a very chaotic and prominent handmade feel to it by the end which I love, is a fun addition to the Stock-Box collection. Can't wait to see what ideas you've cooked up by the time you come back!
I love your dolls. Although I feel like this one has lost touch, was rushed, and not being your best work. Still looks good!
One thing I really appreciate about the community fostered here is the genuine kindness and want to be helpful in their critiques. I’m one of the ones who just watches these videos in the background but I always enjoy seeing your process regardless of outcome. Congrats on having a small human. Best to you and your family 😁
I honestly think she's not really your style but she's also adorable and its nice to see you step out of your comfort zone once in a while!
I love the idea of lots like “Where the Wild Things Are”, it makes me feel like four mystical creatures just adopted a creative curios child
I both love and hate this doll, I’m pretty sure it’s the shirt throwing me off because I love every other aspect of her, I think the colour pallet of the shirt mixed with the pom-poms around her neck kinda threw me off it, what the shirt looked like before you added the squares was honestly beautiful and I would probably just embroid it a bit, apart from that she’s so cute and I love her so much!
As a Nepali girl myself this video was such a wonderful surprise!! I love her, the oversized scarf is just so endearing
honestly, when i saw the shirt i doubted it but this ended up being my favourite doll you've made, i'd genuienlly sell my soul for it.
Red is so cute!! Aww^^
I'm really happy that we finally got a south Asian doll, and I do like the whole idea of a red panda, but from my personal experience, red is a colour more associated with mature married women than young girls, though it might be a bit different from Nepalis ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A Nepali guy I know said red is the National color of Nepal
That's interesting. I had no idea. I don't really associate red with anything in particular. However in my church we associate deep, royal purple with mourning
Where my mother is from, red is a symbol of good luck, health, fortune, etc. very positive color.
@@zoe_dawg Thats because its something within Married Indian women not americans. Not sure if youre indian or not bit thats what red means in indian culture as an indian
