Upper Klickitat River. Whitewater SUP and Kayaking. Rafting put in to Fish Hatchery. 1520 cfs

We finally got back to the upper Klickitat river on 7-8-22. It has been five years. It’s a very Continuous class III with the more consequential rapids in the beginning. very little flat water and at higher flows few Eddie’s. Amazing scenery and very remote. The flow is slightly lower than we have done it in the past at 1520 CSF. I think we could’ve definitely done it at a higher level in the 1800 to 2000 range. This run was from the rafting put in which is reached by following the red smiley faces down from the main road to the river. Look at American white water for details on the put in options. when you see the red faces painted on the trees, you are on the right path. There are several logs in the river which will come into play. No log jams on this day. Take out at the Hatchery comes up quickly. When you see the hatchery bridge immediately start moving river right. There are very few Eddie’s and take out is slightly hidden. The first take out a slightly overgrown. The second take out is fine. Both are about 8 ft wide. If you miss a second take out you have to scramble of the rock Bank by the bridge Without a good Eddy.
