    i appreciate that you're mostly doing lights that can be accessible/available to "normal" users.
    while there's more lights in the same battery tier, those are usually more enthusiast aimed.

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  Před 2 lety +4

      Yeah i try to cover a range of budget friendly to mid priced options. Its really impressive how far the budget friendly lights like sofirn, convoy and wurkkos have come.

    The Convoy M3 now has an updated version named the M3-C which adds USB-C charging. You can also get an extension to fit 26800 batteries for increased capacity. Great light!

    Thanks, I appreciate how thorough you are in your videos. Your reviews with mid-modes are a godsend. I do botanical surveying at night on occasion, and so many videos talk about peak lumens when runtimes are more important in my case. Your reviews on the Wuben lights in various videos really have me leaning that way. Thanks again.

      @UrbanSurvivor  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you so much for your kind words! Night time botanical surveying sounds like a really cool hobby! What light are you currently using? And yes, Wuben has been a very reliable and good value brand in my experience so far. I will definitely keep the mid mode comparisons in future videos.

      @@UrbanSurvivor Well it's usually when we spend too long on the hike looking for plants and have to come off the trails in the dark. (I do native reforestation work in Hawaii). But it does have it's advantages of having us check for rare invertebrates that are most active at night. I have a Nitecore NU32 headlamp and some klein I picked up at a box store. I've been wanting to up my flashlight game for a while but it's a bit overwhelming (in a good way). Your videos and the comments within have been really grounding and informative. I think I need a more floody beam pattern and perhaps I'll need to look at beam color as well. But my use case (I think) is a consistent light through the night for short to midrange to guide me through mountain jungles :) Come out to Hawaii sometime and see what we do

      @@sebastianmarquez3014 Suggest a light with a high-CRI, warmer emitter (probably 4000-4500K) for that.

      @sebastianmarquez3014 Před 2 lety +2

      @@johnmpifer Thanks John, I'll look into that. Like I said, just trying to up my game and am humbled with the care and quality I see folks here and elsewhere have for flashlights.

      @@sebastianmarquez3014 Check out the Sofirn IF25A (the version with 4000K emitters).
      The beam color temperature looks like afternoon sunlight, which is very pleasing to the eye, and it’s rated at 95CRI (CRI = color rendering index), which means that the light will render colors of flowers, plants, and botanicals very accurately.
      The 21700 rechargeable lithium-ion battery allows for very good runtimes, as well.
      And it’s only $39 on Amazon right now (or, $33 if you order directly from Sofirn, if you don’t mind waiting a couple of weeks for it to ship).
      Mine is my favorite flashlight!

    The Maelstrom MX3F is my favorite 26650 light so far. Over 90CRI from 3 Nichia 144a leds, 2600 lumens, and a nice warm 4000k

    Thanks US! Great comparison. Tough to decide though. I like smaller sizes of lights due to EDC or in packs, but I like the Convoy light. Good distance and good spot. But I easily could be persuaded otherwise! Thanks for the affiliate links too!!

    The Nitecore P12GT is my bedside flashlight because the on/off button is separate from the mode switch so I can leave it on the lowest setting and when I turn it on in the middle of the night it is still on the lowest setting. I wish all of these companies would get rid of the strobe. The Nitecore will not cycle through the SOS or Strobe mode unless I hold down the mode button. I have another 26650 flashlight so I am going to buy a Thrunite TC20 V2 to try out as a vehicle light and to help support your channel.
    It would be good to get a set of the same battery to compare the flashlights. H(ohm) Grown batteries are what I use because the 4244 mAh batteries outlast all of the ridiculous 5000+ mAh batteries sold on Amazon and they have the lowest internal resistance (0.12 ohms) available which means they self discharge slower. Maybe you can test Amazon batteries to find their true capacities and internal resistance for a future video.

    Yo Urban how is it going? Just finished a massive wave of tests, still got more coming. Thrunite's catapult v6 Is amazing, good throw distance and lumen output. I wish you could control the lumen output though. Honestly I'm surprised most flashlights don't have an option to control the lumen output. I'm using the TIPSE700(from nitecore) and honestly it's pretty helpful for various modes for lumen output.

      Hey man good to hear from you! Glad you are working hard keep up the good work! Yeah the catapult is a monster. Very cool if you need a thrower and not a bad deal for what you get. Glad the TIP SE is working our for you. Definitely one of the brightest keychain lights on the market!
