Sounds a bit like a lazy Top Fuel Motor. The revs are lower, but it's pulling gears and has to stay together a lot longer. Is it running a mix of alcohol & nitro?
-At what distance are you filming from the beginning or end of the course? You can hear the car shift at 0:05. How far away are you from the course, looks like 1/4 mile? -Are you allowed to spend multiple days and nights in the same location or do you have to leave at night? -Are there spectators along the full length of the course at the same distance from the course?

If that was a shift he was nowhere near the traps or at speed.
