In this episode I meet Amy Drummond, the president of unicycle.com USA.
Telling her of my recent saddle sore issues she kindly offers me a prototype air-saddle component in the hopes I can build it into something a little more comfortable...

Those Alabama unicyclists look kinda familiar... Glad you could use the footage! Thanks for the video plug and the good ride. :]
Why haven’t you posted in 8 months? Is everything alright?
Alabama. Forest Gamp Tom Hanks. Fantastic Edward I like you bro
first!
Lol
hahahaha
Hahaha!
How did Muriel take to being painted up the wall?
Lol true tho
Every year or so I stumble across a gem of a channel that I binge all of their videos then impatiently wait for more. But Ed, you are without question the best channel I've ever had the pleasure of stumbling across. Can't wait to see what you've got planned once all the USA vids are out. Keep it up King!
@@wojciechd6765 I absolutely adore How NOT to travel Europe. It is brilliant
Have to check out Hasta! How not to travel Europe is another legend. A collab with Ed would be the thing of dreams!
THIS
ball Tom is a genius
I’m the same. Found it last year and have watched all the videos
His smile gets a little bigger when he gets to Elijah's name.
He knows the meme.
One of the top ten underappreciated CZcams channels

Every time I see one of the shots where you ride by your camera all I can think about is the fact that you have to go back and get your camera every time.
Same
Bit of self promo here ;) Why not also follow me on Instagram?: instagram.com/mredpratt/
If every new saddle feels good for a bit, , what you need is a saddle where you can move around the pressure points on your bum. Shifting the pressure points front to back and side to side may be a solution to long range riding.
Ed i live in charlote but just got a new unicycle . When you came past did you find any cool spots to ride ?
I hope you are considering coming back to the states because of the real diversity of the terrain in the states. You have the rainforest of coastal Oregon and Washington. Volcanic areas of the casecade mountains. There is the area of the bitterroot range( broader of Idaho and Montana.)
The drastic change from mountains to plains which you don’t get in the south.
It’s really surprising if you are going west. Imagine riding along a plains for miles. Then you blink and see the mountains rising out of nowhere. And then you have the dense forests of the northern plains
@@eddog6666 Minnesota is a mecca for paved bike trails. Just say'n!
Nobody:
Ed: Elijah LeJander
It's wild that another Elijah joined up. Kind of takes the air out of Elijah Lejander
I still don't get the Elijah LeJander thing. Anybody care to elaborate?
@@Rhaelyxs just say it to yourself with eds accent, it just flows
@@Rhaelyxs It's just a satisfying name to say
Only CZcams chanel where I have the bell on. Everytime I get the notification, I am happy.
Love your content because its so much more than just content.
The title for this vid should be: Ed fights future E.D.
The shot of Ed’s single tire over the Georgia-Alabama line is perfect
It’s insane to see all of the support you get, especially as such a small channel! Keep up the amazing work
Iv'e been here from almost the beginning and im always so exited when i see you posted a new video! Just wanted to thank you for making such a nice series and for inspiring me so much thru out the years :)
DUDE !!!!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO !! WAY TO GO BROTHA !!! THANKS FOR SHARING
So glad I found out about this series! So fun to watch, really well edited and paced even though it would still be entertaining regardless, given the content you know? Just great
I've actually binged eds round the world series about 4 times now. It's honestly one of the best things I've watched on CZcams or otherwise
Glad you made it to GA! Wish you’d have come through the coastal area where we live but this is so fun to see our country through your eyes!
Always find myself tapping on the screen to see how long is left just hoping for it to last forever
@@lightdark00 Yeah, 1 or 2 at most :(
Think there will be a episode of him in the uk riding back to Somerset
Love love love your videos Ed. Much respect for your travels. Peace brother.
you're a good man ed
After picking up my first unicycle, a 28 inch, I have gained even more respect for you. 2 days in and I'm riding it, but barely. You make it look verrrrryyyy easy, Ed 🤣
Love it absolutely man and it's great to hear my music in your episodes. Thanks that :) by the way, the new saddle looks extremely comfy, I can imagine the air chambers spread the pressure quite well. Cheers ;)
Hey Ed. In case your saddle problem is still unsolved: Best solution is leather saddle, which should be (somehow) wide enough at the rear end (to give support for your ischial tuberosities). All the cushions whether air or whatever won't work because it is not about having the softest option available. Soft materials just make it worse. Stiffness has to be right, and leather is optimal for it.
You were in my dream last night! (no nothing like that). I saw you on the side of the road and you let me ride your unicycle! Then I woke up to find your new video notification on my phone. First thing I saw. lol. great videos mate!
Wow! I've been watching your videos from the start, and now see you riding a place I used to ride all the time! The Silver Comet Trail! That's a great trail!
You were 30 minutes from my house in Charlotte. I would have loved to meet you had I know you were in the area. Your an inspiration keep up the good work!
Some beautifully Unique homes you have stayed in!
I love how you said "Berlin" with a southern accent hahah
when I saw you were going from AL to Atlanta I got excited and sure enough, you were on the silver comet! I've been to that exact state crossing before, that path is pretty special!
Here in Missouri we have the Katy Trail (237 miles). I'm a little jealous of that paved surface. That's an easier ride when you're putting in a lot of miles.
4:30 Cool. Didn't expect this kind of Dutch-like infrastructure in America.
Outside of the cities, the Uk is well supported. Many cycle trails around here in North England. Also canals. And many quiet country lanes. For the hobby cyclist, it is ideal. Commuters suffer though from a policy of favouring the car.
@@andrewnorris5415 While we do have a lot of cycle paths (of varying quality) they do suffer terribly from not really being continuous runs.
I frequently cycle a route that uses an old train line, a canal path and bridleway.
They're all great, with good enough surfaces.
Sadly between the canal path and the bridleway, there's a hellishly busy road, that goes over a narrow bridge.
It's officially part of the cycle route, but I'm just not prepared to cycle it...so I get off and push.
It's certainly a lot better than it was, but we've got a very long way to go.
Goede dag hendrik
Hey Ed, Great video keep up the good work!
yur initial videos were with more ride and details of the ride, but now a days the editing has taken toll on it.i hope there is a good reason behind it.great job.simply marvelous riding.
"Berlin has the best barbecue in town"
Hmmmm yes, the floor here is made of floor.
made me chuckle!
Glad to see my state of Alabama on your video! Wish I could have been there!
mail the extra saddle to a town a few hundred miles away then you can always have it waiting for you if the experiment fails
Awesome to see Amy's Ride the Lobster jersey on the wall! I've got a matching one on my wall as well!
The Silver Comet Trail runs through my old home county! It's not too often someone goes through Paulding County to get somewhere else.
that bike path looked lovely
11:37 ed is looking double cheeked up
Damn that list of Patreon supporters you are reading is getting loooooong!!!
Glad to see Alabama treated you well. Small towns are where its at! The weather is never fun though.
Don’t know why I’m watching this other than you’re so entertaining, haha! I only ride bicycle, and I don’t seem to care too much about comfort as I have a bare carbon fiber seat (no padding, I did make some 5 gram pleather and thin foam padding which helps a lot but I ripped that off for race season and haven’t put it back on since, oh trust me some days I wonder why, but after a week in the beginning of cycling season I have 0 discomfort and get used to it again, it’s that week leading up to it that’s the challenge! It’s been fondly nicknamed the “a$$ hatchet” by my teammates who have tried it (it’s also very thin so it doubles as a great letter opener and super convenient for opening mailing packages).
So really no reason other than you have interesting videos I guess, but man that’s an epic journey you’re doing! Some serious determination and your video editing has such an awesome editing style, I love it!
You are an amazing editor!
My goodness, this man is hardcore!!! I thought I was keen riding a FOLDING BIKE on tour!!!
honestly, feels like a sadel that is modular would be better for these types of long (af) distances you are pushing. After sitting on anything with a sweaty ass for month its gonna hurt, what might help is just swapping around the "contact points" of the sadel every few hundred miles.
I cant believe I missed this dude go through my state even crazier close to my town
Testing an experimental seat. Wow. It seems good. Like it would follow your motion. Less rub. But balancing on it...
I guess you liked it enough.
Great work! I can't believe I just found out about you! I think I've got some watching to do.
Great way to start the day
12:00
looks like he just says "yeah" half way through her sentence then walks off xD
Nice Unicycle. Com.. Be blessing to others..
So sorry to hear about your sore bum. I rode a Dahon folding bike through seven countries in Europe and I can tell you from experience after 2500 miles or so my butt became sore and it remained sore for about six months after the trip ended! I tried several different saddles along theway and none gave me any more comfort than the last. It was horrid. many times I was ready to cry but I soldiered on. Someone has mentioned that the problem is moisture. I would say there’s definitely some truth to that, But I never found a solution.
3:43 "a wonderful psychopath that would take me across the state line" Another victory for auto-generated subtitles.
A better saddle with a Center cutout & chamois cream help the most. I’ve used that for long distance cycling. 👍☮️🌞
That seat should have a little inflation bag like a blood pressure cuff so you can adjust the pressure to make softer or harder.... I bet that would change it enough to help you w/ long exposure sores and such. 😉
Good idea, some one gonna steel it..
Ah cool Ed. I live in Charlotte. Nice drone shot.
il est courageux et persévérant Ed , un petit bonjour de france
Ed, I’m currently riding appx. 275 miles from Fort Myers, FL to Key West on a bicycle and I 1,000% have a new-found appreciation for what you’ve done. I’ve only been at it for three days (about 50 miles a day) and it is TOUGH. Granted, I’m on a little bit more of a time crunch than you were, but my bike is a fixed gear and I’m carrying everything on my back! Thanks for the inspiration, you’re the man!
Also, shoutout to Elijah Lejander!
Everything on your back does sound tough! Keep it up Weston!
Ed Pratt What’s funny is that in this video you say “only 300 miles to Atlanta” and that’s my entire trip!!!
I used to watch a tone of Kris Holm videos. I even built a few of his Norco Unicycles.
I am also riding unicycle i learnd to ride it yestertoday it took me 2 months to learn ride unicykle
You have a video of how you manage all of this old footage and ig pics to make it look like it’s happening now and not two years ago? Crazy task
Been watching your videos from the beginning and as a fellow unicycle it drives me crazy when you call your Unicycle a BIKE. BI meaning 2 so how is your unicycle a bicycle? haha As I have travelled around the world one of my favourite things to do is learn how to say unicycle in the country that im in or the person im talking to is from. But BIcycle or BIke should never be confused with unicycle! :) love ya ed! keep the vids coming!
Ed, maybe having a custom leather saddle (like the brooks saddles) might be the answer! They just get softer and more subtle the more you use them
"best barbeque in town" it's easy to say that when you're the only barbeque place in town kekw
All the best
Well love you ED! I must get a ribbon for fourth.
If you see this, have you ever try using cortizone? That stuff is the best and takes care of sores in a jiffy.
Love your videos
Have you tried using long/extra long sanitary towels?...they might at least help absorb the sweat and ease the pain. Worth a try.
looking forward to see how the airseat treats you man.
Marietta is my home town. Nice video 👍
Talcum powder plus sweat - yeah, that makes one depressingly effective lapping compound. I've felt your pain.
i don't even like unicycling but i *HAVE* to get those unicycle stools @5:53
they're just so kitsch !!!
Nice ed!
hey ed on the next series you should unicycle around mars!! Pls it would get you a ton of views
Muriel lol. Excellent content.
That was my old neighborhood you stayed at that's funny.
Man! That original saddle is the one on my 29ér. It was seriously uncomfortable. It was too bended and made a bad time on my two precious things. I solved that problem by dismounting the cover and the foam, putting the plastic in a boiling pot for 10 minutes, than placing it on the floor and standing straiting it out a little bit. Then I assembled it again. And it was a relief to use it again. For a guy like me doing distance on my unicycle I´d prefer to put the weight on the supporting bones rather than the area in the middle. In my opinion I would like the saddles more thinner more like usual bike saddles.
Petroleum jelly is the way to go for sores mate!
Here is a question: why not throw on a Brooks B-17 or C-17? And I love these videos.
Silver Comet Trail was built over an abandoned rail, wish they would do that all over the US
Is there someway you could manufacture armrests, which come up from the Seat pist and go out to the rear and then double back? This would let you support some of your bodyweight on your forearms instead of your tush.
Would lovr a video of just the people you met along the way.
Awesome talcum powder Hahaha, no pain no gain Ed..
Loveland Ohio trail goes from Cincinnati to Cleveland 300+ miles
Pretty amazing
wondering how long itll be till that patreon shout out takes 5 minutes lol its pretty cool watching it get longer each episode
Hi Ed, how the saddle test is going? Did you solve your pain problems? Is it something available for all or is just a sort of prototipe?
Thanks.
Marco
Sean, I trust you received the money? Thank you for your cooperation Mr. Jacket
So keen to do maybe 1/5th of what you've done, but on a comfy motorcycle
You should have flattened that saddled, there are some tutorials on the web showing you how to do it by dunking it in boiling water and then clamping it flat till it cools down. Uni manufacturers are kinda stuck with banana-shaped saddles because moulds are expensive to make. I've both the KH Freeride and the KH Fusion One and I still prefer the Freeride because it's a bit softer, I just wish it was less curved.
who was totally surprised
Selle San March Carbon FX Open Shortfit. Rode 2400 miles on it without any issue.

MOST FANTASTIC!!!🎊🎉
Good Day Ed, I still enjoy your Unicycling Around The World videos. 😎👍👍
Always Good Vibes From Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hey Ed, I’d be happy to help you out in Washington DC if you’re stopping through on your trip! I live literally behind the Capitol and also have a place around Annapolis if that helps you out. Great content, keep it up!
OMG you are so close to me I
live in Georgia
I like how people can do a 7-second dance and get 25 mil views while this guy rides a unicycle across the world and has only 115k subs. He should have at least 1 mil by now.
Amy's house is beautiful.
It sure is!
Itty bitty town. We got a dollar general and best bbq in town... 😂 not much competition huh?
