    The built up crust under the wheel just adds to the Mojo of the kettle. Never been an issue operating it.
    But, never the less...good ingenuity.

    Great idea! Webber supplies a silicon 'handle' for the damper which comes standard on their 'better' models....wanted $15 for it...this is a much better and less expensive option! Thanks!

    Man what a deal! I know you needed another grill for the collection. I would have put a compression spring before the wing nut. It would keep the tension tight yet easy to turn.

    Doesn’t the Creosote build up help the vent perform better? I would definitely add the file handle, but removing the vent damper, IMHO, would be overkill and un needed, unless it’s part of the once or twice a year maintainance regimen. Thanks for sharing.👍🏼💪🏼🇺🇸

      MeatCranium BBQ AND REVIEW The creosote builds up and makes it harder to open and close, maybe not in Florida due to the heat but here in Wisconsin yes, also being crazy about clean is another reason. Thanks for Watching!

    • @MyYewTubeAccount
      @MyYewTubeAccount Před 5 lety +7

      It builds up there because there is gaps where smoke/heat is escaping. The buildup allows for more accuracy when you are adjusting the dampers/daisy wheel. Its all part of seasoning the kettle. Don't remove it.

    I'm stuck for clues as to why you want to clean below the vent? It's not like its the ISS and needs to be surgically cleaned. I always do my vent handles asap after I get the unit. 4x25mm machine screw and a bit of 1/2" wooden dowel with a hole drilled into one end.
