Isn't the NY Subway notorious for the craziest stuff happening there? A drag show is honestly one of the least crazy things there xD I mean, there's not a single rat or pigeon with a knife.
it's notorious for smelling like piss and never being on time lol. the reality is less exciting. there are sometimes street performers, or i guess substreet performers, but not typically on this scale. not to say it's unheard of, but again, not typical.

I’m trans masc genderfluid, the first time I met a group of drag queens I was about 4 or 5, I asked my parents why some of the women had facial hair. They told me “Oh, you see, some of them might be women (trans) but I think most of them are guys who like to dress up as women. You know like, how you’re like a tomboy and don’t like wearing dresses? It’s like being a tomboy but for guys, only it’s a little different.” And it clicked. I remember I asked the group the question of “How do you take your thing on and off??” And the howling laughter that the group had as my mom scrambled to tell the group sorry and that I shouldn’t ask that kind of question to strangers, followed by a lesson on how you didn’t have to have “the parts” to be a boy or girl but rather it’s how you wanted to be portrayed to society. It was a learning experience that allowed me to figure out I wasn’t my assigned gender later on in life lol. Later as I grew up, I realized I wasn’t fully female, but not really a guy either, and some days I feel like neither. I’m very comfortable after finding out about genderfluid, as the term tomboy never felt like it fit me. I love drag queens and kings, trying to hone my cosmetic skills to become one myself, actually ❤😂!

Dont wanna be annoying or picky but asking drag queens about trans issues can be a tricky thing cause not all drag queens are trans. Like the first questions asked was how they knew they werent cis basically which some still are cis gay men yk. I feel like asking when did you think you were queer or what is something you love abt queerness might get deeper responses. Also asking abt aesthetics and their ideologies might be better than asking about their gender, bc alot of styles tie heavily into gender. Love ur content ty for all you do❤
I don't think he was specifically talking about trans issues, but maybe I read it wrong. To me it felt more open ended so they could take it wherever it applied to them. Most of our lives we have to spend in one box or the other in terms of gender expression and sexuality. So I think some of the queens just took the question to open up about not fitting into the box and how they were able finally freely express themselves. It's something I think can apply to pretty much anyone.

I am so mixed on this, on one hand it is something fun raising money for a good cause, and there is nothing wrong with drag shows at all, but on the other hand being autistic I can only handle that level of energy if I know I am going into that level of energy before hand and so if I was working in that area and needed to take the train home and had that going on I would probably either have a panic attack or autistic meltdown from the sheer overstimulation without warning first. Otherwise I am all for things like that, if it was in a place which was open to the public but without being a place where people are forced to stay in for transport I would be even more for it, but being a place where people need to get to/from work that could be very overstimulating for many neurodivergent people. Love the cause, just iffy on the venue since there is a difference between making people who shouldn't be uncomfortable about something uncomfortable, it is another thing to make people who are comfortable with in but can be put into a panic attack or meltdown due to overstimulation overstimulated in an area where they can't just simply walk away from the stimulation due to being trapped on a moving vehicle. Love the idea, but hate the lack of foresight that it might cause harm to people who are accepting and caring but can be easily over stimulated.

Think of it this way imagine for a second where everything is of very similar volume, the person talking to you, the screeching of the water based Crayola marker the person is drawing with 4 tables over, the hum of the electricity flowing through the lights, the car driving down the street, the mouse borrowing a nest in the walls, the person yelling at their kid 100 feet away, and you don't have a way to filter any of the noise and your mind rolls a random number to pick which it is going to hear, you don't get a direct choice, that person using that marker happens to be what the brain chooses to focus on and now despite all the other background noise that person drawing is going to be the person that you want to go "Please STFU with that drawing, I am trying to hear what this person is saying to me but your drawing is way to loud for me to listen to them" because you had planned for all the other noises, you had the time to mentally prepare for them but you didn't plan for someone to be drawing and so because you hadn't prepared for that noise to exist that is the noise that is going to be over bearing. If it was as simple as asking someone "can you please ignore me" then it would be so much easier to avoid having meltdowns, but it is far from that simple. In a DV group just the other week I had someone sitting right next to me talking but because my mind decided to focus on the person drawing 8 seats down I couldn't process what they were saying. If I was neurotypical then yeah your suggestion would be great, just disengage from the event being polite about it, but being neurodivergent that suggestion is on par with telling someone who is depressed to just be happy or telling someone who is gay and ashamed of it to just be straight, it isn't something that you chose it is something that just is.

It's very easy for the residents of a country that is not a prison state to criticize a country that is one. But to criticize corrupt police and government while living in the west requires you to admit that your country is also in the wrong. So many western countries are actively breeding nationalism and an inherent sense of undeserved pride in your own country which makes it hard for a lot of people to recognize these problems as they'd have to actively harm their own pride and nationalism in doing so.

Prolly because of how crazy it is. So many documenteries from people who escaped there talking about how people get executed for the slightest of stuff. But i do agree other places need to be calles out for ant evil laws they have. Also a lot of middle eastern countries literally killing gays also need to be noticed too. Nobody deserves to lose their lives for things they cannot control!
North Korea's problems are a lot easier to digest and criticize for a lot of people as it doesn't require them to consider that their own country has those issues as well. It's very easy for the residents of a country that is not a prison state to criticize a country that is one. But to criticize corrupt police and government while living in the west requires you to admit that your country is also in the wrong. So many western countries are actively breeding nationalism and an inherent sense of undeserved pride in your own country which makes it hard for a lot of people to recognize these problems as they'd have to actively harm their own pride and nationalism in doing so.
@@Smileyreal I wouldn’t really agree that North Korea is a prison state, they have plenty levels of local representation and federal representation in democracy, similar to Cuba, in their forms of proletarian democracy, along with the fact that most of their problems can be traced to sanctions. In many capitalist countries, it’s legal to trade stocks if you’re in government, it’s legal to target striking workers, most decisions in capitalist countries are made to benefit the ruling class
