- This is the ending scene to the very first episode, Oil Part 1. A small family dinner, Fallon is glad Krystle is gone while Steven is worried his sexuality is out in the open. Great scene between these two. The writing on Dynasty was always so delicious!
Sad what happened to them after their mother was banished. Fallon sleeping around and Steven missing his mother so much. Krystle was a breath of fresh air for this family.
Based on what we learned at the end, Alexis had began to put her kids in jeopardy due to her sleeping around. Remember Fallon being the one, at 9 years old, who shot Roger Grimes. For their safety, she needed to be gone, not that it did not have a severe impact.
Love the 3 drop 'refill' the servant gives Fallon!
maybe the servant knew fallon doesn’t need anything more to drink 😭😭
😂😂😂😭
@@amayarose348 obvious
I love Fallon's voice
I love her hair!
PSM was going bald and had to wear a wig in the following episodes
I love the formal setting and atmosphere in this scene!!!! The Carrington mansion is so very grand!!!!
ANTHONY CASHMERE The funny thing is that this table disappears after this episode.
The shot the pilot in the mansion Filoli (spelling?) in Northern California. After that they shot in sets in LA
@@bkynbiker Way to dark and brooding. It looks way to goth.
Barry 1980 1981 and it's still stylish today this hasn't dated this mansion and Jeff is so good looking
I love the formal setting, too. It's absolute perfection and I believe this is in Filoli, part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation properties.
The cocker spaniel line is classic
Hard to think this show would become so bat shit crazy, in the years that followed, within just a few short years both Fallon and Steven were recast, plus two more long lost Carrington children turning up, long lost cousins, royal families etc, DYNASTY 2017 doesn't match up to the class this scene alone oozed!
Jay Jay what's your opinion of the 2017 remark of Dynasty.
Didn't Fallon get abducted by aliens at one point, too?
@@soblessedsofree1148 honestly it’s crap, even the worst years of 80s!Dynasty are better than NuDynasty
@@thegreenmanofnorwich yeah that happened about six or seven seasons later on the Colby’s spin-off, Pamela Sue Martin had long since departed the show by then, Emma Samms was playing her
The batshit craziness ALL STARTED with Alexis
Her hair was on point early on. Once they started feathering it it turned into a hot mess.
Oh, so this is where the cocker spaniel line was from. Lmao
Fallon and Steven are like Artemis and Apollo, only not twins
Talk about social distancing at home at the dinner table.
Beautifully gothic and more like the subsequent series should have felt. Of course, the later studio sets were replicas of the Filoli rooms, but producer Aaron Spelling had this regrettable policy of flat-lighting everything, flooding the sets of all his shows with too much light which made them look like exactly what they were: studio sets... In fact, that's one reason co-creator Esther Shapiro wanted to film the pilot far away from L.A., so Spelling couldn't directly enforce his "creative" preferences onto director Ralph Senesky's vision... And thank goodness, because the 1980 pilot was almost holy.
Everyone was so cruel to crystal.
Not Steven.
That's how nice people are treated: as invaders from another galaxy.
This Steven was always what he should have been: sensitive, a little insecure, but also strong when he has to be. The recast was always this simmering pot of rage.
Does Blake ignore his son because the son is gay? That’s so mean! I wanna give the son a hug
coccinelle80 Yes. Unfortunately that's how the early 80s were for a lot of gay men ☹
Who else is watching this cause they’re watching the reboot on Netflix?😂
Meeee 😂
I'm watching in INSTEAD of the reboot! on Netflix!
Hate the Reboot
Reboots are for common folk. I prefer originals.
I'm watching the reboot 3 days now and on episode 19
RIP Norman Lear creator of Dynasty.
That Steven was never happy. Saddest gay person ever!
That Dining room is ridiculous.
Omg Just delivery from this scene😂😂😂😂this room is creepy...
Looks like the dining room table in Rebecca
… and *not by accident,* I guess. In season one, *the entire mansion is breathing the scent of its mistress* - the exiled Alexis - just like in Hitchcock’s »Rebecca«, signalling *there’s more to come.*
And there *really* was. → JOAN joined, and saved the show.
Is Pamel Sue Martun alive?
Is this the pilot episode. Pam was way better the English Emma Sans.
Yes, it's part of the pilot ep.
@Emma Samms Superfan yes, on General Hospital.
Right perhaps dynasty reboot. I appreciate you are a super fan of Samms. It is nothing about her acting or accent it’s the writing and how the original was ingrained. It’s hard taking over a role. We get you like Emma. Her Fallon did not have the bite the je ne sais quoi. I know you like Emma and my comment meant no distrspect
There was a lot of English actors in Dynasty. Was Joan Collins rubbish too?
@@johnthwaites5976 No, but Emma Samms, Kate O'Mara, Stephanie Beacham and Christopher Cazenove were.
This is kinda asmr
Was this scene partly reshooted when John Forsythe joined the cast? Fallon's hair seems longer until Blake is sitting with them.
Yes it was. Fallon hair is longer, then shorter. Also, the way she wears her top went from "view to the balcony" to "I am almost a nun"
@@oscardesignma I see it now...
You guys have such an eye for detail.
@@oscardesignma Now that that's been pointed out, I also see Fallon has more food on her plate after Blake stormed out than she did before. But the servant never brought her more - where did it come from??
@@bkynbikerI guess for continuity sake, we never really see people eat at the dinner table at these shows, much less get to see the plates.
Pamela Sue Martin was awesome as Fallon. Dynasty was great when it had an air of realism. Once Emma Sanns (spelling ?) flew off into space on a UFO this show sucked.
Didn't that happen on The Colbys?
@@xavierbeurre8064 correct: that was during the very last scene of "The Colbys" and after Emma Samms and John James reprised their roles on "Dynasty" Fallon dealt with repercussions of the UFO abduction for the remainder of the show's run.
Nah, I watched Dynasty since its premiere back in 1981 at the age of 9! Dynasty fell off the quality and strong storytelling way before Emma Samms was miscast as Fallon in 1985. The last good season was season was Season 4…the show was becoming over the top and lost its footing in any realism after that.
thafuq was that few drops of wine in Fallon's glass???
The staff knew Fallon's proclivities either that or hoping for more screen time lol.
was this specific room ever seen on any following episodes ?
Possibly a party somewhere down the years...
No, the pilot was shot in a northern California mansion, Filloli (not sure of spelling..). After that they used sets in LA
Fallon shoveling food in her mouth.
While I like the scene, my favourite part is the faux family coat of arms, displayed gauchely over the fireplace.
you dont pour more wine to full glass ....
The daughter needs table manners. Why is she moving so rapidly & jerky? It's like she was given a plate of food & told she has 10 seconds to eat it.
She was hungry or either the food was delicious.
That’s the point, her character is not supposed to be perfectly proper
Such a long dining table. Totally useless. Didn't they have a smaller table?
They are practicing social distancing. lol
This is from the pilot episode that was filmed at a real house that was used as model for the whole show.
Exactly, I agree with you as well. I like the big long table and three people at it. (Ha Ha Ha) 😆 .
Gosh, season 1 was dull. Can these people talk any slower?
That’s why they brought in Joan Collins to shake things up, the first season was more about the oil industry and the family behind it.
@@hadihatab3126 Season 1 suffered from not having enough characters and storylines.
So, to fill the 40 minutes runtime, the only alternative to nature footages and musical numbers was to direct the actors to talk slower and slower and slower :D
Season 1 was a complete snooze
I love the formal setting and atmosphere in this scene!!!! The Carrington mansion is so very grand!!!!
