3:18 Thank you rhett. Corn was initially very sparse in kernels, and we modified it to the way it is today. It is by definition a "GMO".
Yes Native Americans modified it outside in nature, not in a lab. A great deal of what we eat is by definition genetically modified, but most of those products were done through hybridization which is not in the lab which is currently what is done with modern “GMO’s“, this along with unnatural compounds added to the DNA sequence of these organisms are the problems; the very fact that they are genetically modified is irrelevant.
There is a legitimate difference between what goes on in the lab with modern genetically modified organisms versus what went on in the past with hybridization, and even still goes on today.
Jstrick9 Too many people thing of mad scientists and chemicals when you mentions GMOs. But all GMOs are, are a product of centuries of selective breeding.

I had Act II Popcorn all the time as a kid,my local discount grocery stores always had these on sale so my mom would always buy it.Always ate it as an after school snack. Tasted just fine as a kid, not so good now.

I feel like this would have been better as a "blind" taste test. Especially when they are judging Skinny Pop compared to "non-diet" varieties.
Skinny pop has more calories than every other popcorn there, I'm pretty sure. It has almost 3 times more calories than smart pop popcorn, the one that ranked N1
Redenbacher was a food scientist and he reinvented modern popcorn. A lot of the other popcorn brands copy his brand. I’m not surprised he won.
The thing with Orville is he has significantly more of those partial kernels hidden within the popped popcorn that subsequently get stuck in your teeth than Jolly Time. Even though Orville tastes better, the lower quotient of partial kernels fragments makes Jolly Time more worth it imo

The fact is that all modern crops is a GMO, there is no such thing as a non-GMO food product as throughout human history we have cross-bread plants and changed their genetics over thousands of years to increase yield. Same thing with cattle, chickens, pork, even fish

I don’t use the bag or the button, I run it till there’s ~4 seconds between pops and it’s always perfect no matter the brand or microwave
I have never had an issue with the popcorn button. Not once in my 23 years of life haha in the countless mircowaves I’ve owned and countless brands of popcorn I have eaten throughout college, the popcorn button has never failed me. It’s a wonderful life

We take Orville pretty seriously in Indiana. Every September in Valparaiso (his true hometown) we have a Popcorn Festival. I’m talking floats made of popcorn. We don’t have much to IN but we do know our corn 🌽
