  • Sweet, sour, salty, umami and bitter. These are the 5 major flavors that the 5,000 taste buds speckling your tongue and throat have been primed to identify. Each with unique gastronomic qualities and health indications, traditional cultures believed in the fundamental importance of consuming a rich balance of all these flavors. However today, with the overwhelming load of sugar-encrusted, salt-sprinkled and MSG-doused foods filling our plates, bitterness has essentially vanished from the modern palate. This unfortunate disappearance has done more than simply change the tang and smack-factor of our foods. In fact, the general lack of bitter flavor in the diet may very well be contributing widespread problems with digestion and appetite control.
    Bitter: A Mysterious Flavor...
    Bitter is an intriguing flavor. The very most sensitive of all tastes, bitterness has an excitable quality that some people would describe as disagreeable and harsh. The very word “bitter” has even become linguistically associated with expressions of anger, resentment, pain and reactivity. Yet complex bitter flavor does far more than cause lips to pucker and heads to shake. Known for stimulating the senses and engaging the digestive system, foods possessing a bitter quality have long been valued for a unique ability to cleanse the body and build vitality.
    Many cultures revered bitter foods as an essential part of a regular healthy diet. Large numbers of the diverse roots, barks, flowers and herbs of the wild plant kingdom are bursting with complex bitter flavor. When consumed, such plants naturally stimulate the production of saliva, gastric juices and bile to balance the appetite and prime digestion. Yet while bitter botanicals were consumed readily by our foraging ancestors, such richly flavored plant foods have been unfortunately lost to the endless aisles of sweetened and salted snacks filling grocery stores today.
    10 Reasons to Use Bitters:
    Including bitter foods in the diet isn't simply a matter of reviving tradition or taste. Bitter flavored foods also have a rich history in the healing arts. From the wine infused herbal concoctions used by Ancient Egyptians to the 16th century prescriptions of famous physician Paracelsus and beyond, elixirs brewed from carefully selected bitter herbs have been treasured as cure-all remedies across the ages. Studies have confirmed that getting an adequate amount bitter flavor is important for digestive balance and linked with many related health benefits. Eating bitters regularly has been shown to:
    1. Curb sugar cravings
    2. Soothe gas and bloating
    3. Relieve occasional heartburn
    4. Encourage digestive enzymes, bile & HCL production
    5. Calm upset stomach and nausea
    6. Increase absorption of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K
    7. Help maintain healthy blood sugar levels
    8. Balance appetite
    9. Ease constipation and regulate bowel movements
    10. Support liver function and healthy skin

    Bitter herbs - yes, I can see what you mean! Anti-religious too, I believe...
    Gentian is one of the bitterest substances known; I know that.
    How about adding a stick of cinnamon to the recipe for blood sugar lowering? Or didn't you want that because it might make it brown??
    What was the sweetener you used? All I could see was that it was "raw". Molasses??
    Lovely professional pestle and mortar too. Actually I would like buy links to the herbs and most of the stuff on that video! ☺️

      Hi @oneoflokis Thank you... some say that wormwood is the bitterest substance on earth, but who knows? Yes, I have several more bitters videos to upload when they are finished. With bitters, almost any combination can be used, and that is the beauty of making your own medicine and being your own "mad" alchemist, however, I am using tried and true recipes, to ensure best combination and taste, etc.
      The recipe in the orange bitters called for a water and sugar mixture (simmered and then added) however, I don't use sugar in anything, so honey was added instead of sugar-water. You could use any sweetener you like, including stevia, molasses, sorghum, honey, etc.

    What herbs do you think work best for getting rid of kidney stones??? ✌🏻❤

    • @magicalhoof7431
      @magicalhoof7431  Před 5 lety +2

      For kidney stones, get on a magnesium supplement asap ("Calm" powder twice per day) and take as much to bowel tolerance as possible... also, get a good source of bulk stinging nettle and start making nettle tea. Make a large pot of it and bottle it... store it in the fridge for quick access.. drink it hot or cold, several cups per day. Nettle is king for dissolving kidney stones. I also recommend Uva Ursi supplement, ginger (any way you are willing to take it) Fresh parsley, and B vitamins dissolve kidney stones. For the highest quality kit I recommend this product: Scroll down for selections of kidney detox kits: drclarkstore.com/dr-hulda-clark-kidney-cleanse.html If you cannot afford a kit, you can purchase each supplement separately and take them each day. You must take all the supplements in a protocol for best results. Write back if you need more specifics, and I will help you. For example, if you don't have the money to buy those supplements, taking an ounce of apple cider vinegar will dissolve kidney stones, but it may take a little longer.

      @@magicalhoof7431, Thank you so much for responding. Which kit do you think is the best and will just the pills work? Went to Earth Faire yesterday and came home with 2 different teas. Both were the brand Traditional Medicines. One was Every Day Detox healthy skin and Liver but has stinging nettle and some lemon in it also got one that has Dandelion leaf and root. Guess I need to go somewhere for the bulk Stinging Nettle like you said. I have already started the Magnesium. Have had the stones before and have changed a lot of my bad habits which included drinking almost no water. I have not hit on what it is that I am doing or not doing and it is getting very frustrating. I think I just might have to do a cleanse every so often to get my body back in gear. I have taken the product called Yidan Formula from the guys out in California. It worked to dissolve my first stones (an 8 & 9) but apparently I need to use the product for a longer period of time or switch to a different one. This last time I ordered the formula had been changed but was supposed to be improved. Thanks again for your help. ✌🏻❤

    • @magicalhoof7431
      @magicalhoof7431  Před 5 lety +2

      @@diannenaworensky6698 You have excellent natural instincts of how to heal yourself; you are a healer... yes, please drink only distilled water from now on. Distilled water is basically rain water and is negatively charged, so when we drink it, it will bond with toxins and unusable (inorganic metals and minerals) and they will be expelled, it also helps with dissolving kidney stones. Make your teas with it also. Stay away from peanuts and peanut butters, they are a number one culprit for kidney stones, and I would not consume any meats until you are cleared up, as meat consumption worsen kidney problems which subsequently lead to heart problems. Clean up your diet, no sugar no preservatives, etc etc! ALL COMMERCIAL FOOD HAS BEEN WEAPONIZED! Be very careful what you eat! You can purchase magnesium chloride (oil) and start rubbing that into your kidneys through the skin, as often as possible, which will help. You can apply DMSO and castor or olive oil on top of the mag oil to stop the itching. Take hot magnesium salt baths (Epsom salts) a few times per week.
      The Hulda Clark kits are all excellent, its up to you how much you want to spend. They absolutely work, and I have first hand experience with them. You can also just purchase each supplement separately and take them all together, its just up to how much money you want to spend, and the ease of using her protocol which is included in the kits. Plus her kits have the tea, which is very important, and gathering all of it separately is frustrating and may not save that much money in the end.
      The bulk nettle tea can be easily ordered on vitacost or amazon. It is very inexpensive, and I recommend the nettle tea, several cups per day as the number one way to start to dissolve those stones. I have helped many people dissolve the stones with just the nettle tea! Results are surprisingly quick. You can do it.
