    Awwww this bring back so many memories of my city! I was born this same year! I miss that McDonalds on Peachtree St. It's funny they keep showing the Westin Sundial Hotel, ironically that was my 1st job when I turned 19 in 2006 😅 wow now I'm 27!

    Damn this is before the traffic in Atlanta got out of control. Now it takes almost 2 hours to get to Atlanta from anywhere outside the perimeter since so many people have moved here

      That's because the metro area is literally twice the size now that it was back then; they'd just finished expanding the freeways. You should've seen the *old* freeways...

    No, much later than 1984. The video shows both the revitalized Underground Atlanta (1989) and the World of Coca Cola (1991), so I'd say it dates from the early 90s. One Atlantic Center (originally the IBM tower) is from 1987. The King and Queen towers (Landmark at Concourse Center) were completed in 1988 and 1991; only the first building is shown in the video. Having grown up in Atlanta in that era, I can attest that there was just enough late 80s cheese in 1991 to make this video possible.

    • @c750dt
      @c750dt Před 4 lety +1

      @@recurseofficial7261 Originally that building was going to house the headquarters of C&S Bank. Funny enough, C&S merged with Sovran of North Carolina to avoid a takeover from North Carolina National Bank. However, Sovran had some bad dept and other baggage that actually left the new company, C&S Sovran, way weaker than it was before and a year later, NCNB took them over and changed their name to NationsBank. That tower, when completed, opened as the NationsBank Plaza. Later in the 90s, NationsBank bought Bank of America but decided to take their name (in banking, it's not uncommon for the nominal survivor to take the other company's name if they feel they had the better reputation).

      I actually think 1988 or 1989 due to the former ibm tower (one Atlantic center) was there. (Shown in part one of the documentary) but some other notable midtown buildings and some downtown ones weren’t completed for example the peach tree plaza not sure if I got that name right wasn’t built yet. I believe it came before the B.O.A. plaza and sun trust building.

      Back then people still wanted to move to Chicago New York Los Angeles. Atlanta was considered Klan land. Atlanta started changing after the Olympics made it a more international city.

      @@larrys4618 klan land in the 80s? Lol. I was born in 79 and live a little south of Atlanta. Where I live is half black and has been my whole life. There is no klan land near Atlanta. Now I won’t say that all of ga is non klan land but I will point out the 80s is the same as today as far as whether ga is klan land or not.
