- Absolute literal invisibility is something that would be invaluable to military operations. By remaining unseen in any capacity, you could remain undetected and get what you need. But to do so, would have a few drawbacks that would need to be understood. How exactly could you do that and what would those be? Lets discuss that in todays episode!

12:40 I'm surprised that Roanoke didn't mention the original Invisible Man novel, because H. G. Wells accounted for this exact problem, his eyes are slightly visible so he can see.
If I remember correctly, that's something the movie didn't bother mention either.
@@MsSharkDemon I'm not familiar with the Invisible Man lore, however I don't think any movie adaptation has followed this detail and instead opt for him to be completely invisible. Even in Lord of the Rings, the movie makes the ring wearer invisible, yet it's stated in the book that the wearer's shadow is still visible.
yeah exactly, the back portion of the eye wasn't affected by the bleaching formula that allowed for total invisibility, so there were two slightly translucent yellow circles floating around where his head was. So HG was a genius for thinking of this problem before anyone else, and sadly nobody thought it an interesting enough detail to include in any other adaptation
@@eg_manifest510 because invisible man would be incredible easy to defeat given that. In the book it may seem logical but seeing it in a movie would make it obvious that invisible man can be spotted without using thermal gogles ans those can be easily defeated
He also has to fast occasionally because his food can be seen in his stomach.

The old show The invisible Man had a work around for this (light passing through his eyes) in the visible light passed through, but he could see in higher wavelengths like ultraviolet
Humans don't see in Ultra-violet though we have a nerve that can see it but is cut off.
@@randallbesch2424 If this is the show I'm thinking of, it was part of the things done to the protagonist in order to make the project work. The process of activating the gland that turned him invisible would also cause neural connections to parts of the brain that didn't normally work like that, thus allowing him to see in alternate bands of light. Like, it's science fantasy at its finest, but at least it did kinda try to come up with a way around the "invisibility makes you blind" thing.
Was that the one with the ex Thief and the Quicksilver Gland?
The quicksilver absorbed other wavelengths and shifted the infrared spectrum into something visible as it passed through. That's why Fawkes and Arnaud could see each other while invisible. At least that was their explanation.

In the show Qucksilver (another Invisible Man take) the character was able to see on a different light spectrum. They showed his POV vision quite a lot in the show.
I loved that show! They way they handled the invisibility was great too, he wasn't truly invisible, just covered in a material that bent the light rather than the traditional way of having it pass clean through.

another instance of them not playing by their own rules is that when the gorrila is cured the last thing to come back to visibility is the skin and fur, presumably because that's the last thing it reaches from the bloodstream, but when you get cured somehow the skin goes invisible first. I'm guessing they did this so they could have the cool CGI skeleton instead of him just going from skin to full invis.

_"Taking the formula and putting it in a particle accelerator"_ that really got me
Damn I wish I could just ''quantum wave shift'' out of any awkward social interactions I will inevitably bumble my way into lol.
This movie was based around the statement of "It's amazing what you can do when you don't have to look at yourself in the mirror anymore."
I always assumed that while the serum did not give Bacon super strength, his insanity would have. Deranged people are just built different, i have heard stories of 160lb patients needing 3-4 male orderlies and extra sedatives to restrain them during a psychotic break. Lifting a single 220-250lb dude by the throat wouldn't be that much trouble for a physically fit and healthy guy.
psychosis, basically the brain goes "Why me not need to not destroy body? Full powa!" or feel pain int he normal way, why they can eat 16 rounds and keep going till the hydraulic fluid leaks out, or you hit the magical off switch, PCP did the same thing, turned off the "I may need to still live" option and allows the body to use full strength while not feeling pain, and "you" are locked in a little box watching your body do every thing. Don't go any where near pcp people!
I always thought, given the way he was being held, the open and easily accessible pipes overhead and such, that he'd just like...garotted him and was using that to lift him up, given what he did to the first intern he ganked. After all, it's often easier to cause damage in a strangling situation quickly with something thin, rather than a heavy rope (hanging is more about the short drop and sudden stop than strangulation), so it could've just been something hard to make out in that situation. The sudden slam sideways might just have been him body-checking the guy as he fell, since he was ragdolling to the ground and could easily have just been shoved sideways to further hamper things for his pursuers.
I'm surprised Roanoke missed that part, maybe he wasn't paying full attention. But yeah it is explained in the movie that the longer a subject remains under the effects of the invisibility the more deranged and aggressive they become (it's why the gorilla bit Thanos). So yeah, while the Baconator is just a normal dude at the end of the day the increased aggression could definitely affect how much extra strength he is able to pull off in otherwise not normal circumstances.
Even if the retina cells get activated by light passing through them there are two problems. The lens in the eye wouldn’t be able to focus the light since it is passing straight through. Also light is hitting it from every angle and not just from what is in front of him so everything would just look white or whatever the dominant colour of light is in the environment.
That is another excellent point!
The backstory of Thanos was not what I expected.
"But... it's a government elevator so it breaks, classic"
Hahaha that made me burst into laughter cause it is definitely true
Saw the thumbnail and panicked, thinking my gimp suit only fans got leaked.
The unwrapped Bacon showing up on the motion tracker might mean he was carrying something, and when he realized he was being tracked, he dropped it.

Day 2 of suggesting covering the M. Night Shyamalan film Unbreakable (and also maybe the other two in the trilogy, Split and Glass). I'd love to see your breakdown on the scientific explanations of the Eastrail 177 characters' supposed superhuman powers!
I've been crapping all over any invisible man concept for decades. If light passes through, there is no sight.
Yea granted the science they use is farfetched but crapping on it when u dont know about metamaterials is just ignorance.
So Try picking up a science book on metamaterials and how carbon can be made into these materials before crapping on it.
You would have to see in some spectrum not made transparent like UV or IF so wearing some kind of contact optics might work that converts light.
It would be great to have a invisible man movie where you can still see 2 pricks of black where the pupils are.
The one from 2020 was pretty good, if I remember correctly it was a suit covered in cameras that made the guy invisible. It still had some wtf moments but the science was a bit more believable.

was the serum the thing that made him insane or was he just insane already? the gorilla went all wacky so maybe it was the serum but.... how does invisible serum make you insane and violent? what does it make your conscious invisible or some BS?
even as a kid I wasn't stupid enough to suspend my disbelief for this and I literally believed santa was real and my boogers were tiny bugs that got stuck in my nose
He was already a Grade S jerk, being invisible gave him freedom from consequences. The period of isolation may have made him somewhat ungrounded, but over all...
It was that the character turned out to be one of those people that chooses to turn into a monster when they don't have the threat of consequences looming overhead.
I feel like he was supposed to be equal parts "This dude is a grade A sociopath and narcissist who now can do what he wants when he wants with no consequences, and feels like everyone is against him, while also apparently suffering insomnia which will further degrade his ability to think logically or coherently about things" and "Well, going invisible in the original novel drove the doctor insane, so clearly we must do this as an Easter egg/callback to the original text!" I believe in both cases it's the increasing feeling of being unable to do anything about the situation by the titular invisible man to change their situation that just drives them bonkers, as in both instances they have put themselves in a situation they can't seem to get out of, and are growing increasingly more desperate, including reaching a point of lashing out at people for perfectly normal things.
