Thanks for watching! - Hry
For anyone confused (cause I was the first time I played this lol):
- Molly died from poisoning after eating fluoridated toothpaste and those berries
- Calvin obviously died from swinging off the cliff
- Barbara was murdered during a break-in
- Walter died after being hit by a train when finally leaving his bunker
- Sven died in a construction accident while building the house
- Sam obviously fell off the cliff when taking a picture with the deer
- Gregory drowns in the bathtub as a little baby
- Gus was fatally hit by debris in the storm at the wedding party
- Milton obviously went missing, and so is presumed dead
- Lewis unalives himself after struggling with mental health issues
- Edie died of either old age or alcohol misuse
- Dawn died of illness
- Edith died in childbirth im assuming
Some of the stories are purposefully told in metaphorical or dramatic ways because the whole family claimed they were cursed so the stories that were the most entertaining were memorialised. It’s supposed to be a kind of embracement of death within the family??
Anyway sorry for the long comment. Loved the video!!
walter's death confused me bc after we see the train tracks go off the edge of the island
@@jadadabbadoo Aren't they broken though? And he died like... decades ago in-game? I think makes decent sense that they fell into disrepair and just weren't worth fixing for the rail company.
Sven died while building a dragon-shaped slide.
@@FireTurkey yeah but they go off the edge of a cliff
@@jadadabbadoo structural support is a thing
the game they reference is the unfinished swan, that game is about the king, aka milton. so milton didnt die, he just went to a new world of his creation, its a really phenomenal game, i highly recommend it
My story with this game!!
I was around 6, i was at my dads. He always played video games, uncaring for me most of the time.
I mostly watched him, i remember him playing the molly scene, the swing scene, and a bit of another scene.
I was so confused. I didnt understand what it was about.
Since forever, ive been searching for that game, once in my memory.
I was so confused still, 5 years passed or so.
I was scrolling through my tiktok feed, until i saw that swing scene. I immediately got a huge flashback, and opened the comments to find the name of the game.
“Edith flinch”
“What remains of edith flinch”
I was skeptical if it was at first, but decided to watch this random streamer play it.
I recognized alot of scenes, and it felt like the house was waiting for me too.
And with every new room she goes in, it feels like im going too.
Whats left behind are memories, to re-discover my childhood, i never thought i’d hear about again.
It feels so close to home. It feels like im literally with edith.
So what remains of my childhood?
What remains of me?
What remains of cinna?
And mainly,
What remains of edith flinch?
1:15:00 the moment when she realized how old Gregory was
It's so sad to think about
shelby playing all my favorite games is the greatest thing ever
for anyone who plays this on a ps4 after the gregory scene a very soft ribbit noise is played through the controllers speaker.
Hey Shelby, just to let you know, the link to your twitch in the description actually just leads to the old name 'ShubbleYT', rather than Shubble :)
She has no words after Gregory, like she does for everyone else. I think as a pregnant mom she was horrified
i was eating while you were playing through the whole molly thing and i almost lost my appetite
the way the game had us thinking the entire time that lewis was gonna chop his hand off and then... well something was definitely cut off. the gasp i gusped
I don’t think that they ever had a curse on them. It was just a way to shift the blame since most of these stories have some kind of negligence about them
Odin who seemingly willingly let himself go down with the old house.
Molly left in her room on an empty stomach when she was likely used to being full (seeing as her portrait doesn’t seem to be malnourished), leaving her to eat a bunch of things that would make her sick and the combo being what did her in.
Calvin who was clearly accident prone left alone and unsupervised on a swing overlooking a cliff.
Barbra who shouldn’t have been left alone when a killer was on the use, seeing as she was likely more vulnerable to being a victim due to her famous past.
Walter who was traumatized by the death of Barbra and then isolated himself, the family allowing it to happen when he could’ve gotten help instead.
Sven dying while he was building the dragon slide, which I wouldn’t be too surprised if he wasn’t exactly the most careful when it came to building.
Sam who was reckless around a wild animal, ignoring his daughters warning that the deer was still alive.
Gregory who was left alone in a bath despite only being a year old.
Gus who was forgotten outside in a horrible storm, leading to a fatal hit from debris.
Milton is a little more.. confusing. Either kidnapped or trapped in a secret passageway and dying in there (to be fair, he did seem to frequent the passageways a lot seeing as his drawings are littered throughout them).
Lewis who clearly had signs of maladaptive daydreaming, his therapist not picking up on it and even encouraging it.
Edie who likely died due to alcohol and meds that should not mix being mixed
Edith who died during childbirth due to her being 17 (which already raises the chances of a bad pregnancy) and not taking care of herself properly leading up to it (climbing/crawling around the house).
In my mind, Dawn is the only one who *didnt* die of negligence. The one person that tried so be as cautious as possible to not let this ‘curse’ get to her and her children. I feel like she’s the one who realized what was happening. That’s why it was easier for Edith to understand Edie’s side. Because it’s meant to be easier to handle. Dawn’s way of handling it was more realistic and hard to take emotionally. But it does seemed to have worked for a while- both her son’s deaths don’t seem to be out of her control. She didn’t make the passageways- she even locked them trying to keep the kids out of it. She trusted in a professional to help Lewis- which is TOTALLY reasonable. And then with Edith? She wasn’t there to make sure she cared for herself. The only negligence I see is with Edie since they left her alone- but honestly? Edie was probably going to make sure she died anyways- afterall she didn’t want to go to a nursing home, opting to die in her own house than a foreign place.
Supposedly according to the creators Milton is a king in a game called the unfinished swan
Wait, did they actually confirm that? Cause, I’ve believed this theory since I first heard about it, but I didn’t know the creators had confirmed it
I heard it second hand but it supposedly came from the creators @@egyptianwerewolf1466
Legitimately one of the best games ever made, pure art. You could argue maybe the best indie game ever made.
I feel that Edith Finch almost doesn’t belong in the video game genre. It really feels like it’s the perfect example of what an interactive film would look like. Just phenomenal.
Dude this game changed my relationship with death!! It had such a positive message about how different people handle death and presents it in a way that made me how rethink how i feel about it. I talk about more on my podcast No Time 4 Gaming.
No way, how come i didn't realize until now that the person from the beginning on the boat was her son who's on his way to visit his mom's grave. From the Arum-lilies to the journal his reading that his mom leave for him 😭
everybody says "don't eat your fish" but if anybody was that hungry, they would eat it in a heartbeat
*staring right at the cat* “I DONT SEE ANY CAT”
Not gonna lie, having the Halloween/Michael Myers theme play during Barbara's story is out of pocket af even though it does fit the tone of the story.
Molly died from flouride toothpaste and eating a lot if poisonous things. The stories were maladaptive daydreaming as a coping mechanism to make it seem like the food she was really eating actually tasted good and also as a coping mechanism towards the poisonous pain she was facing. The tentacle thingy was symbolizing the hazy dark feeling you start to feel when you overdose and when it ate her, it was symbolizing how it feels like your insides are eating you alive when you die specifically from od and poisoning. Its a very sad story and unfortunately, this is what its like for ingredient only households and households that use dinner as a privilege. Back when i lived at my moms, i was always eating random shit
I think it was a mix of the fluoride toothpaste and the holly berries. (Holly berries are horrifically toxic, which is why even though they’re pretty, nowadays people normally just keep plastic ones with them.)
this is rly nice
It was fun watching this game a second time.
My theory still stands, though. Edie was somehow involved in killing everyone and just blamed it on the curse. How else would she have survived to old age if it really was a curse?
Agreed. She lived almost double what anyone else did.
it is very much part of edies fault, she believed in the curse and made all the others believe in it. this led to reckless parenting. molly died from poisonous berries because edie didnt feed her that night, calvin was literally on a swing right next to a cliff. some stories are a bit different like barbara's, but edie chose to keep a very strange story to memorialise her death, and they let walter seclude himself in a bunker for almost his whole life after he was shaken by barbara's death. as for gregory, kay was going through a lot at the time but she literally left a 1 year old unsupervised in a bathtub. and theres a similar pattern in most of these stories.
Its a curse, in every generation only one survives some years longer, Edie, Walter, Sam, Dawn and Edith
I loved this game, so beautiful.
Would have gotten all the advancements if you went back to Calvin’s story
loved this game
I think you accidentally skipped Odin
yeah, odin's story was in edie and sven's room, but it was very short so i dont necessarily blame them for accidentally missing it
Um am i the only one where the sound cuts out at around 1:17:00 ish
I think the song might be copyrighted
@@justaperson.2280 oh good to knoe ty
@@justaperson.2280That’s kind of surprising since it’s from The Nutcracker, I was expecting the theme from John Carpenter’s Halloween in Barbara’s story would get flagged before the music in Gregory’s.
@@fallingawayfromthenormwith most of the playthroughs I’ve seen Barbra’s story is fine but Gregory’s gets muted from copyright lol
No it cut out earlier for me, when she says “hold on Gregory”
This was an amazing game
I think I’m glitching Walter’s section has the subtitle “Hamilton vs burr”
I LOVE THIS GAME😍😍
IM FIRSTTTT!!
Anyway i love you shubble!:>
Btw I was in this vod
bro molly was like mentally ill wth that was really creepy
She ate mistletoe berries which are poisonous, so i think Molly was hallucinating as she was dying
@@jakofthefrostplus whatever toxins they had in toothpaste in 1947 lmao
@@jakofthefrost
*Holly berries
The berries on a mistletoe are white not red, but yes, still poisonous.
However, they are not so poisonous that they can straight up kill you. The thing that killed Molly was a mix of all the things she ate that night (the berries, the toothpaste and the hamster food), all of them wouldn’t be able to kill someone on their own (max they would make you sick, but you’d recover) but eating all of them and mixing the poisonous parts and germ parts together *would* kill you.
was it from a bear
I love you but you missed a lotof places
Love the new pink hair shelby 🩷 even tho it’s not in this exact vod
