- It took awhile to get Zach Galifianakis to the Off Camera studios, but we finally got him. When you hear his reasoning... it's understandable.

Galifianakis seems like a really cool, thoughtful guy.
Bukowski was right.
Except when it comes to Mel Gibson.
Love how real this show is. Sam Jones has a gift for getting others to open up, cuz he actually LISTENS. Talk show hosts, take notes.
I love what Sam does
You are 100% right
It mostly because this dude is so chill, he's just hanging out with his buddy almost
Also these interviews are a completely different format
With talk shows it's about entertaining the crowd and then there are these kinds of interviews for more personal in depth conversations
Yes true :)
"I don't do social media, I think it's bad for society" - I could not agree more
Amse Master as you're on CZcams....
I don't know you Amse Master, but I have a feeling if you tried hard enough, you could agree more.
frank ferrero not to mention all the educational/instructional shit you can learn.
@frank ferrero
"Social media -
noun
websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking."
Which part of that definition excludes CZcams?
Maybe you should heed your own advice and think before you post. Puto.
Lmao such a big brain over here
This show is quite literally the exact opposite of “Two Ferns.”
For a guy who hates interviews, Zach was sure great. He was one of the most interesting fellas Sam has interviewed, IMO.
@Scotty Mar10 Really? Tell me more.
@Scotty Mar10 Gee. Thank you.
@Binary Sunset Chaser I knew someone would. He clearly did not.
How? It was such a short interview.
He says he doesn’t want to talk about process but I think Zach knows how special an artist he is, and I get the feeling he himself is interested in the subject of process. Zach is very self deprecating, which can be its own form of narcism. I think zach is trying to ask us to be kind in our judgement of him while he judges us. There’s a pervading air of fascism in the air and no one can agree on who the real fascists are so naturally everyone feels victimized by every comic. In short these are troubling times.
Knew that behind this high quality jokes, There is big mind. Love the way he thinks about life about fame, gave me inspiration
He makes a good point, this show is totally about pulling back the curtain and showing the people that we think we know but really have no idea because we've only seen a facade. I remember the Kristen Bell interview and being surprised that she has anxiety and I loved hearing how she works through it, just like us all.
At the same time, I think that's what he finds annoying. It shouldn't be shocking that a person just doing their job has normal human emotions. The stigma that performance art isn't a job and that people who do voice work or perform onstage or on-screen are just having fun, that it's easy, that "anyone can do it", is the underlying issue.
"Who needs Ambien when you can listen to comedians talk about their process"
Suddenly everything makes sense when I listen to the Joe Rogan Experience to fall asleep
Joe Rogan lost my respect when he was doing Fear Factor and how they treated animals. Never gained it back, don't care how *woke* he thinks he is.
Rogan is kind of a bland host now that I think about urn mmmmlllljug
He looks great all slimmed down. More himself. He's quite handsome.
He's really a very authentic person. Social media has destroyed our society that's why I gave it up 10 years ago because it adds no value to my life.
Been almost a year for me. Best decision ever. No regrets.
I envy you
CZcams is social media. You might have given up Facebook and Twitter but you’re still over here in the comments with 42 likes. What a rush!
For arguments sake- you are making comments on CZcams. How is that no social media?
so you deleted your MySpace? lol
My brother met Zach and Ferrel in new Orleans and said they were the sweetest slash wholesome dot dot dot, that's all I needed to hear. Thank u for shaping my epic humor bubbas
3:16 well i don't drink anymore i'm 'soboring' 😂 this is why He remains as Zach Galifianakis.. Period..!
Zach, you're not a dumb actor. You're brilliant 💛
I bet you thought he was dumb coz of tht alan role in hangover.
@@majinvegeta3284 Nope
Or.....most people are fucking dumb
Y'all know y'all could just let this positivity flow...
@@cheekydelinqwent9080he touches on something that has bothered me about humans/society for a long time.
The high regard given to people of high status.
In itself, to make a blanket assumption that an individual of high status is somehow more... (insert whatever)
The assumption is rarely questioned.
More respect is given to people of a higher social status.
Which is ridiculous.
I have met more p.o.s. high status people than not.
Status itself is not a proper way to measure the charter of an individual.
Yet, many people blindly go alone with it.
Thus reinforcing the b.s.
Influencers are a great example of this.
All their status and wealth and millions of people blindly worship/admire them.
They are nothing more than pretty, hyper cooperate shills.
I agree completely. "No one asked my opinion about anything until I got famous. Who cares what I think? I didn't get smarter." Perfect.
I've been tuning in for this show for years now, and I just want to say it is so refreshing to see a show like this. Thank you for your show!!
This is wonderful to hear from a normal guy that just so happens to be famous. I love that he hates social media, he is automatically very much cooler than most of us.
This man is really interesting and probably full of insight. Even before I saw this video, I always thought Zach is the kind of guy who probably hates being a celebrity, especially after seeing him use his celebrity status to help Brody Stevens. Very humble dude. I want to interview. .
Best and maybe only serious interview with Zach I ever heard.
Great interview...your laid back style & his funny honesty was actually comfortable....✅
Really great series. Keep up the good work!
I'm really enjoying these. Thank you Sam (and all).
I mean there is some merit to paying attention to you once you've been in a movie. The idea that making films is hard and getting cast is even harder is constantly bombarded on us and it means that when you appear on the silver screen there was something special about you that got you there
You missed the whole point of what he said, he was saying his merit didn’t change the essence of who he was, he’s NOT his merit
Hahahhaha the Campaign.... hahahha love it
The long-lost Seth Galifianakis @1:08
and then in the limousine the fugees came on...
Seth is my favorite bit he does. That, and the Cuddler.
He's been busy with the chili Cook off
I love how well grounded this guy is. I totally agree with him on celebrity and social media. Funny how tied together they really are where the participants, some more than others, are vying for a little slice of celebrity of their own.
1:11 he turned into the David Ghant character 😂
Love Zach’s personality, point of view, and humour
I think this relates: Keeping the mystique is important. When I watch a movie, I want that to be it. DVD special features and commentary aren't a bad thing, but the less I know, the better.
His unwillingness to give interviews notwithstanding, I am really glad Zach agreed to do this because I had never seen him talk seriously about stuff, and this has given me a chance to confirm what I had always thought: that he is a very insightful person, and his comedy shows it.
The funnier a comedian, the less they talk about "the process". Joe Rogan, great legendary podcaster, shitty comedian, but he constantly talks about "the process". Ever notice whenever he has some of his unfunny comedian friends on his show, they constantly talk about "the process". You rarely ever hear truly funny comedians talk about "the process" or over analyze comedy trying to break it down like some scientific equation.....
Telluwide good observation. I agree, when he has one of his regulars on (Joey Diaz aside, he’s naturally funny and Joe is lucky to be close with him) the conversation quickly devolves into unfunny ramblings about the business ends of things, probably because they lack the talent to simply go on and be funny for 2 hours
oh, you're right random guy without a profile pic ;) maybe you're a good comedian, dont u?
@Jake Sangria good point, but i didnt mean that, instead what i meant was this: an opinion its not about saying "shitty comedian" like this guy said.
if youre of those guys who think that being mean towards another human being is an "opinion" i think you should question yourself a little bit.
and nope, im really into accepting people's opinions and i like what this guy said being respectful, BUT to call somebody a "shitty comedian" you should really question yourself.
because something it's not your taste it's shit?
i don't think so.
@Jake Sangria and when you really do stand up (i have done it) and you experience how hard it is to be up on stage trying to make people laugh is when you really tend to respect others comedians.
being just a consumer doesnt make u less or more valuable person, but in comedy matters make u numb and closed minded. few comedians call other comedians "ohhh, look that shitty ass comedian" na man.
there's always a time to mature and respect.
@Jake Sangria thats what i mean jake, you just made a good point and you were respectful about Joe rogan. U didnt have to be mean.
it's like when a man calls "fucking bitch" to a girl who don't like, it's like WTF, who do u think u are?, a perfect human being?
i'm not agreed about that and thats my opinion.
him saying he's a dumb actor then going down and breaking down modern society like that proves that he's not just a dumb actor, instead he's a smart and articulate person.
1:56 100000% true.
Celebrities are only entertainers
Does not make them smarter or opinions better than others.
Alan out here dropping TRUTH bombs!
Damn, I wasn't aware Zack is such a real dude!
I read the title as "Zach Galifianakis Hates Celebrities"
There was a point towards the end when I swear they switched chairs and were impersonating each other. Very trippy!! 🤯
Best celebrity interview response, “Who is Navan Johnson?”
How come this channel only has 290k subscribers?? I feel like there should be a LOT more.
Why hasn't Zach been cast as John Goodman's son in a movie yet? They look really similar!
Elliot Stent I see it, .. Haha
Elliot Stent this sounds like a between 2 ferns question 😂
Wow, you're right. I never saw that until now.
OR his past self
Yess yesss ! Lol
People love celebrities so they can live vicariously through them Escape their boring lives
“I don’t believe in social media” 😂
I have always loved him and now I know why He is awesome!!!!
I couldn't agree more with what he said about social media.
Well, I hate social media, but I have to use it to promote my business... 🤪🤪🤪
you are on youtube
How this guy gets people to talk candidly is interesting I’m curious how he does this, I’ve only seen clips
It’s because they know him he’s been a very well known photographer and director in Hollywood for a long time. So these conversations end up like talks between old friends rather than an interview, per se.
Its because of the black and white filter
Very thoughtful and encourages me some about ‘Hollywood’.
Part of the fun of celebrity interviews is occasionally you get the chance to see someone be genuine and worth listening to. Other times it’s crap. This one was a good one.
I just love him, he is so natural
He hit the nail on the head, we know way too much about the lives of celebrities. There needs to be some mystery in order for an actor to do the best job possible. Al Pacino said the same thing. This celebrity culture is toxic and hollow. They're people like us, no better no worse. They absolutely should not be idolised.
Zach has what we intelligent people call...insight!!!!!
Ike Malik urgh talk about a conceited comment haha
Liam Jones
🤗 I concur Liam. But I mean it in the most humble sort of way...
Ike Malik you don’t start a sentence with ‘but’ smart guy🧐
Liam Jones
...but.
We?🤔
that southern NC upbringing comes out...Zach is one of the most genuine, honest people in this crazy business..
Love it!!!
Love this guy.
"I don't drink anymore. I'm boring."
". .There's a wheatgrass bar!?. . ."
. . . *BLEH*
😂😂🤣🙈 . .story of my life
Keeping it real Zach!
I kinda agree with the whole thing of not doing interviews. Ive never understood what people get out of them. Most of them are short and they are basic questions or ones on how did you do it. Well they did just like everyone else they prepared and nailed it or else you wouldnt be talking to them. I would rather just see and hear their stories about things they have done or liked or w.e. Because that makes you feel more connected in general.
Great attitude - respect.
“Social media is bad for society.”
Couldn’t be more accurate. I cant stand instagram, twitter, facebook or anything. Its all “look at me and my life its amazing!” Such fake bullshit. Zach is as real as it gets, thats why he is my favorite showman. Keepin it 💯
by far, the dax sheppard and zach galifinakis interviews are my favorite!
I really like this show I just really enjoy listening to other people talk
"Selfishly, I wish I could just be in things & no one ask me about it." Funny enough, you know what I like the best about Dave Chappelle's most recent stand-up special, there are no interviews with Dave talking about it. Heaven!
#TheOffCameraShow
I really like his point of view.
First time I watched outcold with zack was so funny. Just a genuine attitude towards his roles. He also showing signs of nervousness even though it's just an interview with a few people. Just a funnier version of me.
Thanks for keeping real Zach!!!
Great answer, keep the magic!!!
"to me the magic and the mystery of it is if you don't know too much and I think we're losing that more and more...." What a spot on evaluation. Hollywoods movie trailers for the past couple years reveal the entire movie and plot in one trailer. Trailers used to pull me in and make me want to see that movie asap but now I'm like " yeah I can wait for DVD i know where this movie is going". You have to respect someone who is in the business of Hollywood and calls them out on their bullshit. They don't like that.
With talking about process I think I get what he's saying, media outlets try to dissect things and somehow make More.
But I am super interested in practical process in filming, like how did that particular stunt work, how did that happen
they gon give me free champagne!!! lmao
Its not up on the site!!!
I respect his need for privacy. I like that he doesn’t want to talk too much about his work. Stay the way you are. And his comment about social media. Bravo. I don’t understand the need for it either.
You have been served knave
i love this person.
When Banan Alice is on a event
Banan Alice: 1:09
☺️👌 love this.
ugh.. why are all there so many separate vids ?
lol Schwepps. I like it!
Ashton should tweet this!
"Well, I don't drink anymore so, I am so boring."
Hi sobering I'm dad.
Hahahaha this guy is amazing. Great story too.
Zach perfectly articulates why Sam's Off Camera series is so fucking good, in my opinion anyway
He seems really grounded and smart actually
Fuxking love this show. Do it forever
I totally get his take on celebrity.
Preach Zach
Legend!
He is so right. I think its very sick that we have this kind of celebrity culture. Where everyone is putting you on a pedestal only to kick you down in the next moment. Nobody is a better human beeing because they have money and appear in films.
2:06 Did he just quote Andrew Yang??
Who?
@@andye5724 CZcams or Google Andrew Yang, you'll be happy you did 🇺🇸 💰 💵
You had me from the first few sentences out of his mouth 👍🏾
As much as I adore dry, straight awkward humor....it's not the guy you wanna get a beer with. No one could ever guess this who Zach is behind the scenes from his characters. talk about a dude playing it close to the vest. I appreciate that.
I heard about a quote where a new young actor asked James Cagney his technique for acting. He said the trick is to be not caught acting. I guess not being an actor that means that if I am totally impressed by your acting you’ve failed.
When I watch interviews like this, I'm not watching Zach because he's a celebrity. I haven't even seen hardly any of his work. I watch because he is interesting in some way. That's the same reason I talk to people in my own life. I like to listen to people talk about their passions, their struggles, how they've overcome struggles, dreams that they have, things they've done in life that is great sense of enjoyment for them, etc. I think a lot of viewers are watching for the exact same reason as me, not as some kind of celebrity worship. I think if Zach could see interviews as a chance to connect with people in this way, interviews might actually turn into something he enjoys doing.
which one?
too good for show biz. but thank god he's in it.
Love Zach most coolest guy and totally agree about social media I've never used it or will. It's a danger because of all the cowardly bullies on there
Possibly the most down to earth star I've heard speak
"Who needs Ambien when you have a comedian walk about his process?" - Zach Galifianakis
And then you have Joe Rogan constantly talking about how scientific being a "comedian" is.
zach is my spirit animal
every acting teacher in america needs to make this mandatory viewing for their students
between two ferns
I love how ZG tucks his foot up on the chair. So unpretentious. Yes, many of us are sick and tired of the celebrity machine.😝
Wow. I just gained a TON of respect for him.
