Baby Scratch Mastery | Scratch With Me #1

- Scratch With Me is a series where you practice your scratching with me!
So it works like this. I’ll play a beat, and I’ll do a specific scratch combo for the first 8 or 16 beats, then I’ll stop, and let the beat just play.
And when I stop scratching, it’ll be your turn to start scratching.
So scratch for about 8 or 16 beats, and try to emulate the scratch combo I did.
Once you’re done scratching, I’ll come back in, and I’ll do a new scratch combo, and we’ll repeat this whole process for a couple of times.
Now for this first scratch with me, we’ll focus on working on our baby scratches and forward scratches

Scratch pattern #6 completely blew my head up. I've got both platters turned to -15% and I still can't nail the fader control between the baby and the forward- but sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something. DJ Carlo, thanks for this really fantastic set of tutorials- They're super useful and deserve way more views out there!

I keep using this video to practice and I’m doing a lot better only big problems are with latency because I have a slow and bad crossfader so I need a new controller but I’m getting there

Hi Dj Carlo. On scratch combo #1 and #2 instead of 3 fast baby scratches I hear 4. Should the instructions be 4x fast baby or am I listening incorrectly? Thanks!

This video helps a lot, the problem I particulary have is that I can nota "let go" the beat because It stops for a moment, I think I can change that but I dont know how, I will keep trying to change that. Thank You!

Hi Carlo. I've got one question. It might sound stupid, but I can't tell which hand should I use in the jogwheel and which one in the crossfader. I am a right-handed person. Which is your strong hand and where do you use it? Maybe I just suck at scratching and that's all ;).
I am a right-handed person as well. There's a number of video that I explained why most of the songs were loaded in the second deck. It's just because I move faster with my right hand! It's basically finding your workflow that suits you best!

The last scratch is so hard... I can't get it right 😞 I don't filter good enough with the mixer slider either jog release or pullback start so there is always some small glitch happening.
It's alright Ivan! Just keep practicing to get the timing right.

Is it possible to hydroplane on a controller? I can do it on TT's but my hands don't wanna work on my DDJ-SR 🤷♂️🤦♂️🙏
Hmmmm, it's a different beast. I guess it's all in the extra practice? Might also be an issue with your controller's jog wheel. I have a friend whose SB2 has some weird pressure issues on his.
@@djcarlo salamat po kuya - I'll try to work it out with a lot of practice & try some settings. I think the reverse dragging motion on a controller might end up being more of a quick tapping motion since it's a jog wheel & not a platter. Not sayin' i can do it but i can keep trying 🤣
