- When a Reservoir constructed in the 1830s is drained there are treasures to be found, and they are not the kind of treasures you might expect! Come with Simon Bourne @Sifinds and myself to see what we find when the Welsh Harp Reservoir in Brent is drained in December 2023!
Always a pleasure to mudlark with my best mud buddy! 👍🏻🐾🧡
yay the feeling is mutual mud buddy extraordinaire xx
I have been watching you & Nicola for many years,I am not one who comments much because I am so enchanted by your videos!
Thank you for watching ❤️
I've always thought you two would make a cute couple! 🥰🥰
I think you and Nicola are the John Steed and Emma Peel of Mudlarking. The fun banter is very reminiscent of the Avengers - your caps are like Steed’s bowler, the detector like his brolly. Nicola’s pink boots and Breton shirts give her a Mrs.Peel silhouette…
Please don’t ever grow up Simon! We love you just the way you are!
Love his laugh.
Haha I’ll try not to
Nicola! 🤣 “I might have a spare head at home” 🤣
Yes I know! Sounds so weird right 🤣
The Dynamic Duo strikes again!
Way to go, and thanks to all the volunteers. You all did a really good thing!
Glad you went for the plastic and not the cans. Well done to all the team who clean up the plastic pollution -much appreciated.
Too late. Check out the PBS Special "We are all Plastic People."
We should start a company that makes Hindi river offeings out of fish food. Ganesh figurines made of pressed, freeze dried brine shrimp colored with food coloring.
That's a really good idea!
I'm hoping that the Terrapin/Tortoise was rescued and not left out in the open like that.
unfortunately we left him but I do regret that now.
He was probably hibernating, as it was February, I think, poor thing 😢
I'm not going to watch this now, too upset about the terrapin
Enjoy the video. It’s always fun when you get together Simon for a mudlarking adventure.
The ring looks like a typical 1970’s engagement ring. Very popular style back then. Great find.
Thank you Julie
The mad heron was the strongest baby, and he/she was trying to push the weaker one out, allowing more food for the stronger one. It's a part of nature that has to happen to allow at least one to survive, but it's sad.
poor heron :(
What a sweetheart you are, Nicola!!
And Simon, you are a young boy, never grow old!
Love from holland to you ♥️🇳🇱♥️
Very interesting outing... thank you for sharing Nicola... loads of interesting finds and you rescued so many orphans... it's awesome that everyone is cleaning up that area. Thanks as always for your kind words of encouragement. It'll be another long night of work for me... and I dearly love watching your videos before heading out to work for the night. I enjoy seeing all the birds... even the mean grumpy herons... squabbling... And who doesn't like Si Finds? Could use some prayers for my son-in-law who recently had a brain tumor removed and is going through treatments for his cancer.
God bless him and heal him.
Hi there - so sorry to hear about your son in law. Sending him, the family and you, much love and will send up prayers. Hugs, Nicola xx
My thoughts are with you and your family
Lots of love from South Africa
@@nicolawhitemudlarkThank you so much!
Si has so many “dad” jokes. 😂 (or maybe “bad” jokes. Lol)
Loving this Nicola. Of particular interest to me as my granddad (born 1901) told me a tale about when he and his cousin bunked off school to see Bleriot not long after he had flown the channel (1909). They went to The Welsh Harp to see him. I guess he probably flew into Hendon Airfield. I can now imagine where he and Jessie went, from their home in Hendon.
That style of gold ring used to have a small diamond at the tip… I used to work at a jewellery store- now have seen Simon spot it… 😊
I really enjoyed your visits to the reservoir, Nicola! It's always such a treat to see you and Simon together. Your artwork does indeed prove the adage that "one man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure." You are indeed the rarest of all finds, Nicola!
Ah Thanks Steve. You always lift my spirits with your kind comments. Hugs, Nicola x
Hi Nicola - This is Pallavi. I watch your videos sometimes and find them very interesting. I wanted to comment about one of your findings under the bridge. It's a statue of Lord Krishna along with Radha Ji and a cow. In Hinduism, people sometimes place statues that are chipped or no longer worshipped in such locations. Additionally, after certain worship rituals, clay statues are often offered to running water.
I had the parachute guy in the early 80s. Mine was a professional and didn't land in rivers😂
so it does have some age to it! xx
It shocks me EVERY time when you show your artistic abilities. I am amazed at how you can see so much more than just a piece of trash, that it can become something quite different. XOXO have peace and love dear...❤
Thank you xx
So much in this one! You and Si bring me joy nearly every Sunday, and I miss you when you don't post (no pressure, though; you have lives to live). But when you are together, it's always extra fun!
It makes my day when I see you together. Love you both so much. When Si did his coconut skit, that song "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" came to mind 🤣 Big hugs to you both xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
Nicola and Simon the "Dynamic duo " of Mudlarking, What an eclectic collection particularly all the poor toys who with Nicola's hard work became almost as good as new, ,"BEING A THAMES MUDLARKER SHE PROBABLY USED "TIDE' '................sorry for that but as she is forever beignchased by the tide I couldn't resist.
I love your regard for the health and welfare of all your many fans and folowers. Today as I write it was a lovely springy in Canada and seven months since my Stroke andI was able to start on my garden.Thanksto the fantastic Phsi from the Extra Mural hospital it was pure delight to find some Crocus and as an expat from Cornwall some daffodills..
Greetings and goodi fortune to all the fellow followers of this special lady wherever you are.
Thanks once again Nicola a wonderful video ,take special care as you are so so special XXX
Ah thank you Ralph. xx
This is brilliant!! The Thames Toy Orphans are so sweet, and the tow little nears look so happy to have a Home once again! I always feel that Bears take on a life with the Love of children and it's so sad when they are lost and alone. Thank you Nicola for being so caring about them. 🥰🥰🥰
Always love when you and Si get together 💖
From the bottom of my heart, I want to say a big thank you to all the volunteers, Nicola, Si and the ones who I have not mentioned by name(Short memory.😃), for helping collect the garbage that people had thrown in the canal. I don’t understand why things get thrown in the canal and the waterways but they do and beautiful volunteers go and pick it up, so thank you so much!!☺️
Nicola, you are such a sweet person and I love how you rescued those stuffed animals and toys. I always felt bad that they were always discarded as if they weren’t loved anymore, but you are giving them new life, thank you!!🥰
Si, I love your videos and the antics you get up to but the one thing I do really appreciate is your personality. You are so easy-going and I love that in person. You make looking at things in the mud exciting and who knew that would be so exciting?😃 Thank you for being you!!
If I had a wish granted on this level, it would be that everyone would respect nature and put plastics in the rightful place after use, and that would be a recycling bin. These birds and animals that live around the bushes and so forth, sometimes eat pieces of plastic which they can’t digest and it affects their health, so it’s humans that are not respecting nature that are doing this to these animals. If we all do our part, we can make a big difference.
Again, thank you to everybody that helped and collected plastics and garbage from the canal!!🥰🥰
Thank you so much for cleaning up all that trash and plastic !!
I love your clean up at the Reservoir. It is so nice that you give those muddy wooly stuffed toys a second chance, they are truly grateful I am sure. Nothing quite so heartbreaking as a discarded toy. That is the best. Incredible watching how much mud they lose!! They are so cute! Thanks Nicola and Sifinds for another entertaining and spectacular show and your clean up work. Love your plastic sculpture creations! All the best!
Thank you!
Long Term Covid….I feel terrible but your videos have certainly entertained me.
I really hope you feel better soon. Sending love and hugs xxx
Great video Nicola, I enjoyed you rescuing all the Thames orphans. It is a shame your ring was not gold but lovely any way. Thanks for all you do!!
Thank you Nicola for always adding for us a caring comment to your videos , it's a lovely thing to do and very much appreciated 😊
Clapping the coconuts was so fun.
He's such a case!!
Alla Monty Python 😂😂
Great nod to Monty Python! 😅😂
😂❤
So which of king Arther’s knights are you Simon? Since you mud lark maybe Parceful? Or Gerant? Lancelot? Gawain? one of my favorite all time 🎥🥤🌱🐉📽️⚔️🎠
Love the artwork from abandoned plastic. I would like to see a discussion with people who put offerings into our waterways, maybe it would persuade them not to use plastic.
Yes I'm going to work on that
I love anyone that also gets excited by bits of things and discarded toys. We are Bower Birds, what my mother always called me. There was a gallery in NYC that showed a man’s collection of stuffed animals found on roads. There’s also a show of found objects. High Art. 😎
Watching from Minnesota USA 😊
Tennessee here!
Can't wait to see what you find, Nicola!!!
Very well done 👍 Nicola to the rescue. 😘👏👋👏
Well you and Simon really put the mud in mudlarking today.
Lots of orphans saved and a beautiful ring.
You guys never failed to deliver. Had an absolutely wonderful time with you today. Thank you blessings Wendy from Arizona.
I wish we could see Simon’s collection of finds from the years.
Ask him!
Well you don't hear that every day... "I'll take it anyway. I might have a spare head at home"!
The birds at the end, so fun! Thank you Nicole and everyone who may have helped with that. So cool! Yeah, I saw the little piggy. You'll find the two others next time. LOL
I would so love to mudlark a fabulous place like that. You are lucky. love that little glass. Such a great job cleaning up the 'orphans.' Such beautiful junk art you created at the end.
Love you guys, I was drawing the orphan finds as I watched ! Cheerio!
ooh how did the drawings come out? do send!
I'm sitting up in a Maryland hospital with a bad boy big toe. Much of it will soon be gone. Modern medicine keeps me uplifted. Your videos always give my psyche a boost.
Wish you a good recovery 🙏
Bad boy big toe?
Love you and Si. You were my first CZcams subscription - years ago. The plastic swan was lovely!
Thank you ❤️
“I might have a spare head at home.”
LOL
Another fantastic video!
Thanks
Now when I read that back I agree it does seem a little worrying :) x
Si bombarding us with his Dad jokes!!!!🤣
Mm'kay- .. Q: why did the Zombie go to the Shoe Store?
A:His lorry broke down and he needed a toe.
"America and Britain are two great cultures separated by a Common Language". (quote from Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain)
It's always fun seeing you and Si out mudlarking together! Some great finds especially the gold ring and all the orphan toys. Thanks to you both for helping to clean up the reservoir! ❤😊
Hello I live in kentucky USA and I love watching you and your friends. It's also very calming when you show the wildlife and the boats. But I was wondering did you help that little Turtle that looked so forlorn dried and caught in the weeds looking like it was saying help me back to the water please...
Hi there. Yes, we should have taken him. He did swim away after though
What a wonderful scheme to clear up the mess and pollutants, with the added bonus of finding a few treasures! A shame that there is so much rubbish in the first place! Thanks Nicola and Si
You brought in things I left out in the rain for years..
Punishment of luxury
Simon is hilarious. You two are a great double act. Love the toy clean up. 👍🏻🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟

Hola amiga, te felicito por tu video y ese lindo lugar para detectar, muy interesantes hallazgos, saludos cordiales desde chile 🙋♂️🇨🇱⛏️🗡️👍👏🙏🤜🤛🗝️💍
Thank you!
Simon is a HOOT! His love of puns is similar to my dad's. ❤
I think that throwing anything into the river is littering and should be discouraged. No matter what the object is, it shouldn't be there.
Nicola you and the amazing Si are the couple of hearts! Lovely video again, enjoyed watching after coming back from Finland visit. Hugs!
Si and the coconut horse clopping made me laugh out loud! Nice video. Your art is spectacular given that it's made out of trash!
Excellent cleaning results with your soft toys , great vid !!
Wow, nice gold ring or not it's awesome.
You are so clever Nicola to create those birds out of all those bits and pieces of plastic, so cool how you can see a design when you look at those shapes and colours. I remember some others you’ve made in the past with a whole lot of cigarette lighters, they were so pretty! I’m amazed at your artistic eye and ability to create something pleasing to look at out of the ugliness of litter.
I love y’all together having fun giggling like true friends
Sure looking forward to it
Yay see you tomorrow x
Very awesome cleanup and some awesome treasures found! I enjoyed this very much, Nic!❤
What a nice video this week ! it's always nice to do a clean up ! ☺️ Thank you for the permission to not be feeling the best . At this time I am in the hospital after a bad fall in the tub !
Feel better soon x
I watch you and Si all the time Thank you its so interesting Im from Long Island NY and just love all the history!! Wish I could meet you on the Thames one day !
Hello from Atlanta, Team Mud! 👋❤️
Wish we could mudlark in Atlanta!
Isn’t that the truth! Nothing here!
Always love watching you find things and then clean them up. That poor bear, it was black with muck and now it's a pretty ginger bear. My wife would have loved to adopt it.
I love watching you. It's not only the finding of things but what you do with them.
What you do, give these lost or tossed items a new life, is so cool. ❤❤❤
Thank you David xx
Coconuts 🤣🤣 Monty Python 👍👍 grand stuff Nicola & Sci ✌️✌️✌️✌️🤩🤩🇬🇧🇺🇸
Love your videos, Nicola
Thank you! ❤️
@@nicolawhitemudlark your welcome!
You should do a special museum of offerings
yes good idea
Great finds! Minnie Mouse's high healed shoes are pretty wild. 🌷🌿🐕🇺🇸
I am happy to be able to say that I have been following you since you started making your Mudlarking video's. I was drawn to you, in the beginning, because of your beautiful English accent, as I am from the states. It was so lovely and calming, I was drawn right in. I love how practiced your eye has become to even the smallest of treasures! Thru your video's, I have been able to walk beside you along the Thames, I have been there as you dug thru mountains of rubbish dumps, and you have introduced me to your fellow Mudlarks (Including Simon) that I happily now follow. You have taught me so much about your history and I learn something new every single video. I now, after all these years, think of you as my friend. Thank you for giving me so many beautiful hours of adventure and fun! Always ~Jen
Thank you Jen xx
Sometimes I wish I had a spare head at home too 😄
Loved the video…. Lots of fun and laugh out loud craziness😂 such a good thing you were helping with…. 🙏🏻
G'day Nicole an Si. Nice goin, picked up so good stuff. Agree bout the octopus, like the boat and Min Mouse, but seein Airwolf lift up is pretty good. That Si is a bit of a lare in'e! I'm impressed with you an ya m8s, cleanup of the res! Good idea putting the word out to the community, it should be done here. Agree, Herons and trees shouldn't mix but, it one of those screwy things, like crested pigeons here, those blighters got rid of the magpies, starlings and sparrows no longer make an appearance in my yard. How are Ms. Fox and Ms. Squirrel? Thanks m8, done well, stay vertical Eh! Rippa Swan m8! ✋ [Hi 5]
Such fun when you two get together. So much appreciation to you all who cleared the rubbish 🙏🏻
I love u 2 mudding together
Thank you all for cleaning up a beautiful bit of the world 💞
Wading through the mud and finding treasure, a real pleasure to share with everyone of all ages.
To bring the teddy bear and all the toys back to life, a nice gesture 🐻
Good luck with your research, continue the good job, thank-you both ..
Simon certainly ‘tortoise’ well!
Cant wait ❤
Hooray see you tomorrow xx
Wonderful teamwork. Love from Cape Town.
That's a different kind of lark. Fun!

AWESOME!! 👍🥰Excellent video! Wonderful finds, many, many cheers to you and all the volunteers doing such a great job. Yes, Si is 'turtley' awesome, you 'shell' not dispute that. 🤣 Thank you as always, Queen of the Thames, saviour of orphans! 👑❤❤😊
Thank you!
The ending montage of your artwork from all the plastics is best! To all artists who dare to be creative.
Love u guys
I do enjoy watching your channel Nicola! Always interesting, with great finds, lots of history, wildlife observations, good humour and fun interaction with other mudlarkers. One of the best and NICEST channels on CZcams!
