I have been using both Canon 50mm 1.8 stm lens, 50mm 1.8 older version and 50mm 1.4 lens on various occasions , esp wedding ceremonies. Based on my experience I came up with a review and comparison of Canon 50mm 1.8 vs Canon 50mm 1.4 which is my perspective of which is a better lens.
It's not so straightforward when we compare the features and technical aspects. However, when we include the practical aspects we tend to get a clearer picture.
Both are good lenses but looks like one stands out.

l have the 1.8 STM. lt only has 7 aperture blades, but they're rounded. Your out of focus highlights will stay round from f/1.8-3.5.

You should get the yongnuo 50mm f/1.4 its better than the canon and way cheaper, after the firmware update it has great AF

Liked your video. in your comparison you did not talk about the low light Performance , just a Suggestion. ( yes, both lens are good at low light, but having f/1.4 would definitely help in night sky photography).
Low light performance was my first point (i put it in s different way).
However, Sky photography and most of landscapes we do not use the widest apertures (Like 1.4, 1.8).. ideally we use F2.8 to F4/F5.
It depends on how we plan the shot...!

I bought Nikkor 50mm 1.8g and I can say I am able to click better portrait than that with kit lens. As you said sir to save money for tripod and I bought my Nikon d5600 with 18-55mm, 50mm 1.8g and tripod. With the help of tripod and 50mm lens portrait, landscape clicked really look great. Thank you so much sir for helping me to grow as a photographer. I never thought of spending money on f1.4 lens and your video made me more happier.😁

Its good you are enjoying..! Having said that Landscapes can be exploited well by 18-55, when you click with focal length close to 18mm....!
So, instead of 50mm use 18-55 for landscapes..! :)

If you have budget 1.4 is best. you can always use 1.8 on 1.4 lens. I have used both and I won't go back to 1.8.

We write the title in English, discuss in English in comments.
But the language is Hindi which is mentioned in the top left corner of the thumbnail and is the last word in title.
It mostly goes to Hindi audience only but sometimes messes up.

Dude you are wrong you have 1.4 Apeature doesn't mean you have to it keep both on f4 and shoot and compare the Difference how much more light you get.
