When he got that seized 455 olds engine running when they did the boat recovery that's was sitting in the dry lake bed for over 25 years speaks volumes. The man has mechanical savvy that you won't learn in any college
And he amps up Paul and Paul amps up Merlin, and Hunter winds up both of them. It’s just the best mechanical chemistry.

I couldn’t think of anything that would be better than the trifecta, Paul, Ben and Sean with Hunter behind the camera but throw a dash of Merlin in there. Could it get any funnier? Never laugh so hard at a fire. Hunter had the good taste, to put his hand over Paul’s behind, so the editor wouldn’t have to fuzz it out. That was classy and funny. I think fabrats is the only channel I can sit and watch more then 15-30 minutes of video. It doesn’t matter how long it is I’m watching the whole thing and wishing there was more.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before but watching this I was reminded of the fact that Paul used to be a volunteer fire fighter (still is?) and seeing all his antics with fire and... "safety", it really sells that old stigma that most firefighters are pyros! 🔥

I learned from guys like Merlin how to tune CAT mechanical governors years ago. His stories brings back those memories! Wished I lived closer to either of these guys! I would pay in Mountain Dew , Pepsi, whatever to hang out with these guys! 😊

Paul there is a company that makes a fire extinguisher that looks like a road flare, it’s nontoxic,doesn’t leave a residue, but it’s a one use style, not cheap but there is no mess to clean up and is safe on wiring. It’s called Elemental. I carry one in all my vehicles.

As an old man I've enjoyed watching Hunter grow up lately. He's at a really fascinating age where he's no longer a kid but he has yet to catch up with the 'old-timers'... but his courtesy and self confidence (a tribute to his parents, perhaps) will have him on pretty equal footing before long. Especially with Paul as mentor.

This has always been a dream, Chevy 1/2 ton on modern chassis with a Cummings.
I must have rewound 4 times when Ben lobbed the fire work under the truck, so funny.
Man you guys are impressive and fastidious,,, I love the way you always "wash" all your "spare parts" before storing them, and then again, so you don't bring any dust back to the workshop
The truck is going to be very slick. I love the 12 valve, Merlin reminds me of a friend of mine, he is about 55, been playing with them for what seems like forever. Guys like these are precious...we need more of them.

Merlin is really good at explaining things. Very easy to understand him.
When I was a kid, 55 years ago, My uncle had a 49 truck with a 1000 gallon fuel tank on the back. He used to deliver home heating oil around Nashville and brought Gas to my dad at his small station. That was when gas was 30 cents a gallon and Supreme was 35. I can remember when there were gas wars, dad would drive to another station up the road and by gas from them for 16 cents a gallon. That was less than we paid wholesale.
Its a little thing, but seeing your young boys steer the trucks for you as you move them in and out of the shop, brings me back to when I was 5 yrs old or so (I'm 60 now) and my dad would start the hay truck in the field, put it in granny gear and let it go at idle. He'd jump out and he and the adults would buck bales while I "steered" the truck around the field. I realize now that he was putting me in the safest place, but I sure felt important! You're an awesome dad.

You know, when I see people cut stuff like this up, it makes me a little sad, but it makes me really happy that it's being used, not just rusting down in some field. I'd like to think Paul and the crew and all of us watching feel the same way better to be modified and used than scraped.
