When I listen to this, I can't help to think that MJ's "evil is lurking in the dark" was fame and the price that someone has to pay for it. What a sensitive beautiful rendition. Love you Imogen!
i love how Immi adored Michael with all her heart, went to Sunday school and taped bin liners round her legs to make them look like the shiny trousers from MJ's video for "Billie Jean" she adored him that much. she did a beautiful job at this.
it takes a true artist to make a genious song her own, and i think she did a fantastic job of it
I love this version. indeed no one can ever do better than Micheal's, but i think this was a way to honor him. i think she gave the song a whole new lyrical meaning, and im in love with it!
This is spectacular! She changed the feel of the song, just like with her live versions of songs, and it is the same amazing quality of the original! Love!

I think one of the coolest things about Imogen Heap is that she DOESN'T have a flawless voice, but her music still sounds fantastic; she uses brilliance instead of just the dumb-luck talent some people are born with.

This is how a cover version should be done! So it has it's own distinct sound from the original...after all, just copying the original will always fall short.
Imogen did a great job and I am sure that Michael Jackson would be honored that she covered his song!

I have all Imogen Heap's cds. I simply love her music. Fantastic and definitive version of this MJ song.
The mood in this song is so sad and defeated in some parts makes you just wanna lie down in a ditch and die, she made me hear the lyrics in a whole new way. Kinda had me thinking bout Michael Jackson too.

The original Thriller will always be the best, but this is an amazing cover. Imogen Heap has a nice chill to her voice. Nicely done.
I hate it when people claim a song 'can't be covered'. Both this version and MJ's version are fantastic, so get off your high horse. This version is haunting, lovely, and moving, and shouldn't be pushed aside just because it's a cover of such a popular song.

definitely an artist worthy of covering this song. however she make sit her own and changes the entire setting and meaning of it, this version isnt about zombies coming to eat you alive, it is alot deeper than that
Usually with covers, I will like one more than the other (original vs cover) but I honestly can't decide. Of course Micheal's version is just bloody amazing and In my opinion one of the best songs in history. But Imogen's is also very graceful and sweet.

Match of the day, it's a football programme that covered the Euro 2012 final, where this was featured at the end of the final.

the fact that the writer of the song wants to get in contact with her after hearing this should silence all the "she's not MJ" whiners (that fact is pretty obvious... stop repeating yourselves)
this version makes me actually listen to the words and understand them, this version definitely does the original justice. and i agree with crazycooper7, the lyrics are so clear, you can actually appreciate MJ's talent. Good Cover imho :)

this strikes me as a romantic cover.
like, the whole idea of this cover of the song, whether it was the inspiration for the original or not, is sort of telling a horror story to have a shiver, and cuddle with someone close.
and this cover hones in on that, and sort of cuts out the 80s male trying to make himself look better for his girlfriend part, and that pop vibe.
two very different sides of the same song, but I like the soul in this one. it's romantic, not 'scary.'

@calideson It was a month or two afterwards. It was part of a radio interview/performance on Dermot O'Leary's BBC radio show. Dermot was one of the last people to meet Michael Jackson before his death, and they talked about Michael in the interview. The interview is included in another vid somewhere on YT.

I remember this I heard it only two days on Radio 2, when they had her on for an interview.
It does not sound as good as the original Thriller, but I have to admit it's good. The piano is beautiful, really stunning.

No doubt Dermot had some say in Aiden performing this version, since Immi did this cover for his radio show last October if my memory serves me correctly.
Immi has a hauntingly superb voice.
I'm a MJ fan but I admit I like the haunting quality of this cover, I think MJ would appreciate the twist on his song...if you go back and listen to some of the remixes of his songs on the Thriller 25th anniversary album or Blood on the Dance Floor you can see he wasn't afraid of changing things up.

Michael probably would have mixed their styles together and performed with her. He was never snobby about his songs and people trying something new. I mean I love the original and this is an interesting take on it.
