This IS the car to get for those that were wishing Subaru brought back the hatchback WRX.
Dimensionally identical to the 2011-2014 hatch WRX, but with reliable fuel efficient power and modern day amenities.
With the lack of availability and price gouging, this car is all but vaporware.

Amazingly cool car at MSRP but laughable at “market price”
Hoping in 2 years toyota makes more and sells at msrp or I feel it will be the ford focus rs all over again.
I cannot wrap my head around why they are doing such low numbers
@@melondoc there are plenty of dealers that don’t mark up, there are even forums online with easy to access lists to exactly what dealers don’t mark up
@steven mcgeorge the drivetrain was built for homologation in the Yaris prior to rule change. It’s essentially a larger GR Yaris, so it’s as close to a homologation rally car as possible. Actually - it’s closer than any WRX STI we ever received since our cars ran a 2.5 vs the 2L max capacity in wrc back in the day

What I don't like is that every youtuber/journalist are ONLY (it seems like) reviewing or using the Morizo or Circuit Editons. Most people will own the Core. That's the one youtubers/journalists should focus on...
They have to review all. Not focus on one.

@@Toyota4Life I haven’t seen any major reviews done on the Core. They are only focusing on the Circuit and Morizo editions, which here in Canada are almost impossible to buy. My local dealer said they “might get 1 or 2 Circuit editions over the next year”. Really no point in focusing on the models that people can’t buy. Spyder Zetta is absolutely right.
The circuit is just a fully loaded core with the morizo's hood

All that money and they could make a better interior
That's the consequence of basing it on an economy car, which in my opinion is the biggest downside of these types of cars. Not necessarily a deal-breaker for most people though.
The longevity/durability of this motor? Time will tell. Would love to see a teardown after 50k miles.
GR Yaris has been out for 3+ years. Might be a good indicator of G16E 50k reliability at this point.

One problem with this video. The GR Corolla is not a homologated rally car, yet it's referred to as one multiple times.
Well…..here in the states, it’s the closest thing to a homologation special that we’ve ever gotten. And not hard to understand that every mechanical/electromechanical component of this car was motor sports derived and yanked straight out of the Yaris.
It is not but It's running gear is which is better than nothing.
Well, the GR Yaris is, and this shares powertrain, so close as it gets for us here.
Mexico gets the three door GR Yaris.

I hate that Toyota sends in a ringer trim that no one without unlimited money can acquire. What about sending the Core which is more 'attainable' for the overwhelming majority of buyers.
