Just by luck or unconscious something pops out and you're like "whoa, what was that?". And with that piece it was a willingness to be totally sincere and borderline maudlin but hopefully not. Emotional without being maudlin. I had always been sort of afraid of that and hidden before behind maybe a little irony or a just little distance. But that piece kinda showed me that I can get really emotional, I can get really sincere and actually I really loved the way the audience really reacted to it. I was like I want more of that! It took me a long time to be able to embrace this chapter of my life. Reading the comments on how mark and I touched a lot of people made me realize that spreading love to the world might be a higher calling for myself. I feel unapologetic about this time period in my life. Mark and I are actually still friends and keep in touch!

This, man. Totally this. People's lives are so filled up with minute to minute garbage, that they don't experience any intensity in any single moment anymore. Strip all the garbage and life becomes meaningful again. I haven't seen this in 20 years and it's true, it showcases that time when there were no smartphones to occupy every moment of your time and you took the time, no, you simply had the time, to be totally into a person.

I remember watching this video in my teens and thinking that this was the coolest video ever and how when I was older I would have a life like this.
Me too! When I watched the video for the first time I was 12. I grew up as an only child with two working parents so I was alone most of the time. Just hoping to one day find a relationship like in the video. A strong and honest relationship with a person that shares your love. And I was so happy because I was so confident one day I’ll have a life like this. Well, I don’t and never had. So coming back to this song leaves me with strange emotions combined: sweet nostalgia mixed with resignation and sadness.

We broke up after 3 .5 years and i went on to have a beautiful sweet wife and kids but that first love always has a special and melancholic place in my mind that hurts when i poke it..

no1 Jack it’s because they are not! People just keep saying they didn’t had that much mental breakdowns and crisis but they didn’t have this fucking economy that hit us nowadays. And so many other things like social media, and the obsession for money because of the same of the economy. Everything was just a little bit less important back then.

Have listened to this album going to bed every night with my wife for 25 years now. Used to be on CD and I'd program 1, 3, 5, 7-10 and now we play it streaming. Still listen most nights after 25 years.
Same here, such a timeless song and album. It feels as relevant and fresh today as it was when I first listened to the album at the record store in 1998, even have my adult kids love it too.
I discovered this song in 2008 around the time I met an incredible girl my junior year of college. We started out as friends; we'd drive around until 4am just talking. We'd watch movies all night until one of us fell asleep. We'd spend every minute we could with each other. Eventually it was obvious we both had feelings for each other well beyond just being friends. We started dating in 2010 and we're still together and still madly in love. This song reminds me so much of those early years where friendship became love; the video drives that home even more. Beautiful.

The start of the clip where it shows the street scap and the neighbours. Whether they're watering the garden or checking the mail box. The image of the clear sun, the quiet Cal-De-Sac. The manicured lawns and the clean street. l can still smell all of this. And the people. Undistracted by anything except what they are doing. l miss this the most.

I was born in 1998 which someone has since told me is the year this song was released. One of the great songs that has stuck in my head from my parents playing at home as a young child. Obviously i never knew who the song was by or what it was called but I recently heard it again on a top songs list by Noel Gallagher. Here i am now listening on that same Sony Hifi system that was given to me by my mum. The sound system that i first heard this great song on almost 20yrs ago. Very special to me. Cheers x

I am old, I grew up in the 70's. Pink Floyd Animals tour was my first concert. When the 80's hit I thought there will never be music as good as the 70's, then came the 90's, wow. 70's and 90's are my favorite music decades (and into the 2000's). I've gotten tired of zombies walking around staring at their hand... In 2003, give or take a year, I was fortunate enough to see Air in Phoenix (music is a drug to me and I need to score) at an unscheduled stop between LA and NY (I don't think they liked the US too much). Can't believe they stopped in our cowboy town but I'm so glad they did. It was an awesome show at the Marquis, like 300 peeps, and after every tune they played they got grand applause and you could see how surprised they were that they could be that popular in a "old hick town" in America haha.

this song feels like a hot sunday afternoon in late 80's britain when shops closed and there was nothing to do...that's what it brings to mind and that sounds boring but i love the song but that background hum just brings me back to going around my girlfriends house for dinner...it's boiling hot outside...the tarmac is giving off a heat haze and there's hardly any traffic on the roads...music is the only thing that inspires such intense memories in people and each person has a different experience.

One of the most amazing songs ever created. It’s truly timeless after over 30 years! I can feel the sun on me when I listen to it, and everything turns into a long weekend road trip with my friends, and all the longing and ease that comes with young love suddenly floods my feels. I had no idea until today that Air made any videos. I was too busy listening to their music in my car or in headphones while doing things outside, that I never had an occasion to learn of their videos. Brilliant!
