When I was on the buses there was a regular passenger who would always sit either directly behind the driver or he’d stand as close to the front as you could let him depending on how busy the bus was. I asked him why once and his answer was simply ‘paranoid, mate’. Eventually I pushed him enough and he said he’d been on two buses that had caught fire somehow. His reason for being at the front? ‘I’ll be fuxxxx if I’m not getting off first if it ever happens again’.
Having an incident like yours, really does prey on your mind somewhat.

Becky sorry to hear that your truck had an issue with the brakes, I worked for Daf Trucks for twenty years when i was in the UK i worked for Brian Currie MK and Northampton and Ford and Slater Corby Daf Dealerships but Now living in Western Canada working on the American trucks.
Im guessing your brake caliper sliders had seized up, normally only the bottom one seizes up but if they were not seized then they may have been incorrectly adjusted, but i know Liam does the work on your truck so am sure he adjusts them correctly.
But i will tell you the way you should adjusts those calipers on a DAF if you replace the pads and if the caliper sliders are free and not seized. If the brake has two are pipes to it, its a spring brake chamber so you have to have full air in the system, release park brake, adjust brake up witch is on those a 10mm nut type adjuster, just nip it up till the wheel doesnt turn, then back off 4 clicks. The 4 clicks are important as you can back it off 1 click and the wheel will spin and when i was at the Daf Dealerships some of the mechanics would back them off 1 click the wheel spins and they think fine, inevitably the truck would brake down the next day as the brakes would overheat of catch fire.
So 4 clicks off, then when you adjust to that make sure the truck has full air, make a full brake application 3 time then the caliper will adjust itself up,
So the brake calipers can adjust the brake up automatically but the cant back them selfs off automatically, so thats why the 4 clicks off and brake application on these brakes are important.
Im sure Liam knows this so listen to him when he tells you it will be ok. Lol
Keep making the videos i love watching them, make me miss England though :( cause your close to where i use to live.
    Take care Becky and Liam.

I'd say I'm paranoid when it comes to brakes. When my first car had it's O/S/F calliper seize up I was so paranoid that when the N/S/R brakes of the drum variety was getting warmer than the rest I immediately got the car recovered. Turned out to only be the wheel bearing was tightened too much when it had been replaced. After that I didn't have any issues until the N/S/F calliper started to catch but myself and my dad dealt with that as soon as it started so I didn't get to the hub cap melting stage + brake failure that I'd got to before... But now I'm super cautious at work with buses and with my current car (which definitely has something coming, something other than the a slight exhaust leak, I can feel it)

I was rolling in laughter when you mentioned to Liam that you "don't want to see smoke" and him trying to reassure you that all was well🤣also your paranoia is another level🤣, but I suppose we'd all feel that way having to drive such a massive truck, it was good to see you back to your usual self when you made it back to the yard in one piece...

Don’t feel bad about being cautious with the repair, I’m the same, I was once told by a mechanic that being hyperaware is not a bad thing, but being too cautious is, put the repair through its paces and test it while you’re hyperaware. I know brakes need running in a bit, but once you relax back into the job, you will not notice if you are overdoing it, in this case over using the brakes, but you will also not notice the fault, in this case a fire. So I know the last thing you want is a fire, but it would be better to have a fire when you’re in a position to see it as soon as it happens, rather than when you’ve stopped looking for it. It also helps with the blame game, if something goes wrong after a day or so, it’s easy to blame the repair, but if you make it through a week of careful driving, Liam might have a reason to say “it was working fine for a week, it must be your driving”

I can understand your worry. When I was a kid I went to Devon with my brother and his car sent smoke through inside of seats. I was out fast because I was so scared. I had to get back in again. He had an old P6 Rover. Beautiful old car. But I was frightened after that. And it happened to me while driving a bus smoke came up from engine into rear seats. I called out engineers as I was scared. You will soon get over the worry but I understand you’re worrying I really do. And funny enough it happened in my mobility van. It was the thingy that cleans out the exhaust of the crap it collects. No complaing about it being hot madam was moaning about the cold before. Gonna be worse next week ❤😂

I can see how much the trauma with the brake has had an effect on you, and I understand that. And, I think it is wise of you to make several checks on the wheel. However, I am sure Liam would have done everything in his power to make sure your lorry is safe. Hopefully you will soon regain your confidence in your trusty DAF. (And I guess your confidence in your boyfriend's work).
That wheel is not binding when you spin it. I guess your system fault could be from the wheel speed sensor or its cable having been damaged by the heat. If so it is a simple repair for Liam.
I have full confidence in both the lorry and the driver!
