Yesudas had recorded a song in hindi movie called SHADJANE PAAYA for a movie TANSEN, which last for 13 minutes, which yesudas took 3 days for recording and immediately after recording he was bed ridden due to his mental and physical strain , but unfortunately the movie didn't get released which was a great pain fir yesudas and ravindra jain the hindi music director.
Years later,
Yesudas asked raveendran mash to creat a song which resembles this hindi song and thus this song was created

As a Malayalee who grew up in Chennai, old classics like these were one of my earliest attempts at connecting to my roots. Makes me happy to see Tamizhans also plunging into the great world of malayalam artistry. And as you said, this particular song is an absolute work of musical genius, very few masters like Raveendran sir can even dream of creating something as original as this.
PS: Apdiye dhairyama "Dasettan", "Lalettan" koopdunga bros. They're gems belonging to this entire nation and it doesn't matter how we call them, as long as it is with love and respect 😄

Yes we could only bow down to the feet of the mozart Shri Raveendran Master🙏. As you were mentioning as well , Raveendran master's grasp on classical music is incomparable. Shri Sharrath is another composer with a strong classical perception.Mostly malayalam have had glory of such trained classical composers. But its of the bygone days now. I wish people realised the divinity and magic in Indian classical music and focused on attempting to produce music based on ragas . This song showcases the spontaneity and improvisational possibility within the classical sphere as well. But for that ,one should have an impeccable knowledge of the same. Yet as the masters themselves humbly acknowledge, its something beyond the mere human ways to comprehend fully. Its a divine gift in true essence which should be cherised till the last of humanity. In Kerala Classical Music is not popular as you think. People love mostly melodies. It was Raveendran Master who made semi classical songs popular in kerala. The impact he made on Malayalam Music is beyond words. Hope you will react more of Raveendran Master songs.

You mentioned MG Sreekumar, but MG Sreekumaar didn't sing on this version of this song. It's 'His Highness Raveendran Master' himself rendered his wonderful voice here. There's another version where it's MG instead of Raveendran which didn't make to the movie, apparently because his voice didn't match well with Kaithapram's character in the movie
