The "crisis" would result because the flip to "2000" would be to "00" which is technically before "99" causing a range of potential issues. According to the video, no matter how much we were to prepare, it was not enough, it was going to be bad. We were doomed, DOOMED, so prepare for the end of society. As we all know, the problems were not "insurmountable" and even though they were not fixed 100%, nearly all of them were just annoyances like bad dates on web sites. The big lesson here is that people generally work together. A crisis does not mean that everything descends into chaos. If everyone faces a crisis, the tendency is to pull together, not every man for himself, as that simply won't work for anyone, and most people know it.
I wonder how much money the people who invented this kit made..

Honestly as someone who was born in the 2000s, I can say that it’s crazy that a glitch that can cause broken computers and banks nearly ended the world.
This was my favourite time to be alive.

the vhs tape was for preparing yourself for Y2K and there's more than one way to cook soup... but yes this was definitely exploiting some people

OK I wasn't around when this Y2K thing was going down. I was born in 2001 How did everyone react about this
It was hyped up in the press a fair amount. There were some genuine concerns about critical infrastructure going down due to software bugs, BUT a lot of people really worked hard well in advance to analyze the software and patch it. There was a loud fringe element out there who believed it was an inevitable disaster and linked it with the 2nd coming of Christ (given the round number of 2000 - similar sentiments occurred in the year 1000). And there were others that saw it as a great profit opportunity, like this ad that ran among what I think was a full hour long show. I have to wonder if the people that made that program were really that dumb the way they misused statistics or deliberate to amp up the panic and sell more kits. For example, saying that even if they fixed 99% of the code, that last 1% meant that 20 planes would crash, that 15 babies would be given to the wrong families every day. It's just soooo dumb.

According to pennmedic.org, the accuracy of the test results have never been evaluated. In other words, no one knows how accurate the test results are, and, yet, the media is claiming that every positive test result is confirmation. Corona is a real virus. The pandemic is completely exaggerated.
