  • 30 year old Yam farmer Anthony Harvey aka Mug is a young man, that will inspire the World, he lives in South Trelawny a Parish that many persons term as the Yam Capital Of Jamaica. Mug explained that he grew up seeing his mother father and everyone in the family and around him farming Yam and so he took it up from the age of 13, he dropped out of school just as he began the 8th grade and from then all he knows is farming yam. Inspite of his lack of Education he didn't turn to violence or anything negative, but instead he took up the family tradition of farming yam and today he is 30 years old and is farming yam on almost 3acres of land.
He loves farming yam, but he also farm other crops such as Irish potatoes and carrots. If you wish to Support Anthony Harvey aka Mug in any way, you can contact him at the following number⬇

Not only is she informing us, her viewers and providing tremendous inspiration to the younger generation, but as you so rightly said, highlighting these hardworking people. Indeed, they are making a huge contribution to Jamaica. And so is Shanzez. My late father was a die-hearted farmer like them and I regret not being around him much to learn the craft but I do have a deep passion to tilll the soil and I yearn to get back to the rural and my roots, so I believe I will do in the not too distant future. And with inspirations like these, you can imagine how I am iching to get going. Nuff love and blessings, my people.

    Big up Jamaican farmers!
A nation that provides food/feeds itself cannot be held hostage by any others.
    Farming is the oldest profession..
In 1972 I heard a mother bemoaned the fact that the government wanted her son who wanted to be a doctor was being told to learn how to plant cash crop through 4H club
Interestingly, in 1993 a doctor wanted export/ import certification because he wanted to plant and export Jamaican hot peppers.
I wish more young people would plant food even for their own consumption..

Shan, African's #1 CZcamsr, who is from Ghana, Wode Maya, is planning a visit to Jamaica sometime this year. You may want to link up with him. I'm Ghanaian as well, and your piece brought back delightful memories. There's nothing like fried yams in coconut oil with paper sauce and fish. I would to send Mug's children something in appreciation for all that he does.
