To explain some of the slightly off info on the "infinite push immunity" part (at 42:50 ): When shield is turned off GL gains a tiny amount of gauge every couple of seconds, in addition to when landing skills. You can use the Shield mode for push immunity with ANY amount of shield left. But when it drains down to zero you cannot enable shield again until you get shield gauge again, which means waiting a few seconds for the passive regen if you aren't hitting skills.

Both matchu and doranis are correct for there own circumstance. From a pugging perspective, (doranis mentioned not being able to be in call with dps) its optimal to guarantee your own damage since damage coming from allies taking advantage of your synergy isn't reliable or guaranteed. While matchu argues (Matchu mentioned Min/Max Dark atro rotations) Where the added coordination allows you to take that focus off yourself and contribute to the overall DPS of the group through synergy instead. Celling wise, at a glance. Doranis mentioned this before, a good GL player is never beating a good surge player. Without looking at any real numbers. Taunt with CD gem has a higher dps potential relative to the entirety of the party's damage (Assuming good coordination with raid party). In summary both options are optimal depending on the skill and coordination of your party. Doranis setup is optimal in pugs/Low coordination parties. Matchu setup is optimal in well coordinated, likely static party's. CGL by far is the hardest skill to optimally use. The pattern knowledge and class knowledge required to know when to use CGL as defensive option to give you access to dps window you wouldn't normally have, or just using offensively to burn the CD and keep your dps optimal is often not black and white. It takes time to understand where you're gaining and losing time to get off your bigger skills [SC/CS] and where CGL fits in that equation to give or take time.
Princessmaker GL is extremely fun if you like being an "active" support. But every time I do Akkan or Brel I get damage MVP and I can't force myself to switch to a support build.

I feel like one of the biggest issues this game has, and probably why so many people are just not that good at their class, is that aside from hellmode there is no realistic or good way to put all of that information from a guide or w/e into practice. This guy has done tons of hellmodes AND plays multiple gunlancers on top to be at the point where he is now. I you don't do hellmode and only play one of X class you only have three raids to get good at your class. It's just not enough. And no sorry, GRs just don't make the cut.
If you don't use taunt CD you're bad at the game. It doesn't lower your damage whatsoever, you just have to be aware of the debuff. It's essential for current endgame raids especially Thaemine G4.

I'm on team lvl 10 taunt CD gem cast off CD. You just gotta do the math to realize the TEAM benefit.
