He was one of my absolute favorite cobra troops. When I was younger, I’d always imagined that they were a special unit that was armed with high tech, experimental weaponry and gear, and that funky weapon was a high powered disintegration rifle.
I started collecting just three years ago and have a modest collection. I want to thank you because I use all the information from your videos to make my reviews on my TikTok channel. Thank you very much for offering such quality content that helps so many. A greeting from Spain.
This was one of my favorite Cobra figures. He seemed the perfect color and design. For some reason I liked putting him in the rope crosser backpack. I always wondered what the crawler gantry (repainted for Cobra ha ha) would look like with a handful of these or the Terrordrome.
Technovipers would probably work with Toxovipers often since cobra vehicles probably use a lot of toxic substances that could cause vehicles and weapons to fail if containment was breached, or substances that could be released if those machines failed or were damaged. Your average super weapon of the week would probably require at least those two troopers’ specialties, if not other support troops.
Great review. I always see the backpack as a small air compressor on the side with 2 air tanks that connect to the tools. It's been a very good Cobra Convergence this year. Thank you, HCC788, & all of the content creators for CC6 2022. =)
Texhnovipers are the combat engineers and Seabees for cobra, just a same a vehicle wasnt made for them to assist removal of damaged equipment. Thank you for this review.
It was always nice when these toy lines remember that not everyone in an army had to be an elite warrior. The engineers and techies are just as important... Though these guys probably made wicked sappers or saboteurs too.
Dang you’ve been cranking on the videos. Glad you are having a resurgence with classified interest. Loved your stuff for years. Mark and Ron are masters! Support Operation Recall!
Sorry, I missed the submission deadline for this one, but I LOVE the techno viper!!! I've always liked combat engineers, and also really like all the purple themed cobra troops... Top shelf figure, one of the best sculpts in the line....
So the Techno Viper was kind of Modeled after Classic Cylons from Og BSG! I did not know that, which is funny and ironic cause I used to get these to Pretend that they Were Cylons back in the day! Fun Stuff!
One of the most important thing about the technoviper, losing everything but the backpack! still a favorite. The tools did not stay in the pack at all, I still dont think the gun originated with the JOE line
Always a fave and essential trooper for Cobra on the battlefield always a fave and the only basic Cobra Army Builder of 1987 when the focus was on trainers mostly. To me the purple was a logical step mixing the more combat Blue and Red of the early Cobra forces but marking them for a specific purpose on the battlefield not just label-slapping Viper on figures to keep adding more and more with the Viper name but this had some real thought involved with it. I can see them with an early offensive force just not at the front of the spearhead. To me they had the human quality of the B.A.T's multi-tools and could hold a Joe by the neck with the weapons really well.
I was under the impression when you join cobra everyone starts out as a viper and from there you can move up to trooper , officer, crimson guard or a specialty troop like a tele-viper or techno viper . So even the specialty troopers have combat training and have spent time in the field
Good call on the File Card, HCC788! Sappers are critical to winning a fight, as they exploit enemy obstacles and remove/destroy them. They also eliminate enemy obstacles often while receiving direct and indirect fire, so it’s a really dangerous job. Sappers also help build obstacles and booby traps to thwart enemy movement, and they also defuse mines and bombs when needed. Lastly, they help plan troop movements, as they are key to anticipating enemy obstacles and where they are probably located.
Th SAW Viper episode is going to be something else... That issue changed everything about GI Joe. It was "The Transformers: The Movie" for Hasbro GI Joe... murder off all of the never to return figures...
That plasma rifle could have been a Plasma cutter, able to cut through heavily armored doors or walls, like those of a bank vault. As for why the hammer would need a hose, perhaps a pneumatically/hydraulically enhanced hammer for more bang,
Considering the tanks on the backpack they're likely pneumatic. The claw is similar to the 'jaws of life', the wrench could be more pressure for grip, the hammer maybe had a piston in the head so it struck harder? I imagine with the enclosed helmet and the tubes on the armor they had air filters similar to a wielding rig, so the rifle also functioning as a cutter would seem to fit.
If Sunbow had stayed with the series the Techno Viper would've been introduced in what should've been season 3. Unfortunately that never came to be so we didn't get a chance to see these particular troops in their element. The only time I did get to see them in a some what's working role was in the commercials where Fridge went tearing throu an entire squad of them another one for the Cobra Bugg with one talking to Cobra Commander.
I like this figure, but I only wish the head sculpt was closer to what is depicted in the card art because it looks so much better than the head on the figure.
Love this review Commander! Awesome figure. Love the colors of this figure. Thank you too all for making this CC6 amazing! We should try CC7 in 6 months. I have really enjoyed and looked forward to all the figure reviews. HCC788 thank you. Cobraaaaaaa!
I got two classified techno vipers coming today but that’s all I’ll be getting I don’t need 8 cobra machines lol and I’m sure we will get a crimson one and there is a grey one coming with the HMS so that’s enough for me
Wanted to ask your advice on the upcoming Classified version...should I get one to complete my double TeleViper Squad or three to have a classic army builder set?
Great reviews - I enjoyed learning about this figure. I don't remember the Techno-Viper figures from my chikdhood. I must have lost interest in aquiring new GI Joe figures by 1987. Now I am just curious what color the fans will vote in for the Haslab HISS tank technician. Will they pick the purple figure because he looks a bit like this battlefield technician/engineer? Or a variation of red and black because those are the tank colors? Or another color combo?
I both love and don't love this figure. I don't like the colors, but the sculpt and accessories were so cool I get over it. But I find myself wanting to like it more but then the colors come back to mind and I just can't. I do think it's a must have for your Terror Drome though.
He was always a hard pass for me as a kid, I would rather have my vipers and B.A.T's than a mechanic that was only made to repair vehicles, you don't see the motor pool IRL in direct combat with the enemy, you have infantry for that exact reason and for that reason, if they ever do decide to make a Techno Viper for classified, I hope they change his load-out and give him the MOS for combat engineer, then, I would troop build a full platoon of (40-44)
I don't know about the design being brave, but you'd have to be very, very brave, or crazy, to wear bright pink and purple on the battlefield, especially when you're not armed. If you disregard the garish colours and practicalities of needlessly changing uniforms for every type of troop (hence increasing costs), the thing this technician really should have is some sort of sidearm. I agree about him not having a rifle, but he really should have a pistol for self-defence, especially seeing that technicians would be a major target for the enemy when they're trying to fix things like tanks.

I have two Techno-Viper's. Among my favorites. Love him.
I got this fella on my birthday one year; always liked it. I ended up getting a few more of ‘em, and used them along side my BATS .
Nice review. Fun to hear other people chime in.

One of my fave Vipers.
He and the BATS were by far the coolest!!!
If you had a Terrordome or even the smaller Bunker and Surveillance Station; Techno Vipers and Tele Vipers were great to man those bases.
I was attracted to figures with a lot of gear so I really looked forward to getting Techno-Viper. I also wanted to collect every Viper.

6:45 those are air compressor tanks. they power the hydrolic tools. the thing on the side is the pressure gauge.

The jack of all trades.

This is in my top 5 army builders. I feel that every designer leaves a bit of their soul in the toy.
Hmm. What are your top 5 army buliders?
Sorry, I missed the submission deadline for this one, but I LOVE the techno viper!!! I've always liked combat engineers, and also really like all the purple themed cobra troops... Top shelf figure, one of the best sculpts in the line....
The figure is purple but ok because he is a cobra trooper! Great video!
Nice! Loved this guy. Excellent choice by your backers.
I loved the TechnoVipers. I had four of them.
So the Techno Viper was kind of Modeled after Classic Cylons from Og BSG! I did not know that, which is funny and ironic cause I used to get these to Pretend that they Were Cylons back in the day! Fun Stuff!
I think he is a great figure. I'm surprised so many of the additional reviewers do not. Absolutely one of the best from 1987.
100% '87 was a strong year.
He's my favorite from 1987 line.
Their MOS was on display in Special Missions (Vol 1) #18
Thanks for allowing us fans to be part of the vid HCC788! 🐍

I dug this guy even though he wasn't heavily armed, he just felt right, sleek design, futuristic.
Thank you for asking my opinion on the techo-viper. It is always fun to talk GI Joe. CC6 has been awesome. I have one more video in production. :)
Keep it going commander!

Great to see some familiar faces in this one! Cooooobraaaa?!!!!

Techno-Viper...
Does he pump up the jams?
Great figure. Was one of my favorite when I was a kid

Looks like a purple Cylon.
I thought that the televipers did all the tech stuff as well as the communication stuff.
I remember showing my techno viper to my uncle a long time ago he was like he looks like Darth Vader keep him

I was honored to help contribute to this video and I appreciate everything you do for the community, HCC788! Hood's off to you and your efforts!
Support characters are way under rated. Still can’t believe they haven’t even released a Doc or Lifeline for classified yet….

My favorite
Wanted to ask your advice on the upcoming Classified version...should I get one to complete my double TeleViper Squad or three to have a classic army builder set?
I think this was one of the last figures I got. I didn't mind the colour and the figure felt deluxe with all the accessories.
Great reviews - I enjoyed learning about this figure. I don't remember the Techno-Viper figures from my chikdhood. I must have lost interest in aquiring new GI Joe figures by 1987. If only the light purple was Cobra blue, he would match the Tele viper color scheme rather well.
Yo HCC!
Like a centurion from battlestar galactica
Shade is a bit too bright, but otherwise a killer figure
Repainted in 1994
Dude!

A sapper is a combat engineer.. technovipers would have been used for more than the motor pool or field repairs
@@Jtr_ceral_killer they're not Frontline troopers is what I'm saying, but they could be if Hasbro retcons them...
Wow. 40 to 44 Classifed series Techno Vipers. That would get expensive real fast.
