    I had at one time, a very low slope roof on a porch. The roofer installed the gutter before the asphalt shingles, and ran the ice membrane (sticky) into the top edge of the gutter. Worked great!

    Curious regarding the detail you used for the inside of the overhead door hardware with it being installed before the interior finish has been completed. Do you install the overhead door tracks on blocks and then finish up to them? Informative content and enjoy watching. Cheers!

    nice gutter detail! If it was me however I would install another layer of flashing or at least zip tape behind the gutter to protect the wood behind. If it ever gets overfilled the water might sip through the clip in connection and leave moisture there.

    This is interesting especially here in New England where are you have some of those classic details that a lot of times your facia may have a crown molding on it Which is very difficult to do if you need to leave that surface open in order to install the gutter so this would allow you to have some pretty spectacular finish details

    • @NSBuilders
      @NSBuilders  Před 2 lety

      They make a crown moulding profile as well

    I was wondering if you get a heavy rain, with that pitch of the roof won't the water not all of it miss the gutter complete? I was involved with a project that had a trough system a foot up it was about 8-10" in width and was made out of copper.The only time you saw it was when you were away from the building. Thank you

  • @kdotcoffee
    @kdotcoffee Před 2 lety +1

    You should consider a clean out catch basin shortly after the corrugated pipe enters the ground. That will allow the granules/leaves to settle in the basin and not potentially clog the pipe.

    • @NSBuilders
      @NSBuilders  Před 2 lety

      Yes we will have a clean out point. Very important on downspouts

  • @danpark417
    @danpark417 Před 2 lety +3

    Have u guys done a real world test to see if the water would even fall into the gutter? The angle looks a bit off and in a heavy storm, it doesn't seem like the gutter would even catch most of the run off traveling at a higher rate of speed.

    Love the hidden gutter look. My only concern is a very heavy downpour I think most of the water might miss the gutter and pour over the facia trim.

    • @dondumitru7093
      @dondumitru7093 Před 2 lety +1

      You make a good point. They are using asphalt shingles which have texture and will reduce the velocity of the water, but I agree that the profile of roof slope, then drop into the gutter, and the width of the gutter, does look risky that if there is a lot of rain, it could overshoot.

    • @hodesto
      @hodesto Před 2 lety

      I think if they went with the Tesla roof it would be even worse. The hidden gutter is a great look just don't think you have to set the gutters so low to conceal them.

    • @edwardjones856
      @edwardjones856 Před rokem

      @@dondumitru7093 You are correct about the slope gap for sure especially in climates with significant rain. Also did not mention the importance of a screen on the gutter top to keep out leaves. That is what the extruded grooves are for ---not for flashing. Flashing has to go behind this gutter to protect the wood.

    Nice. Fucking love hidden gutters! Gutters in general so darn ugly and takes away from the overall look of the home.
    No Matter if it’s a high-end copper gutter or seamless gutters, all look terrible.
    The only possible issue I can see here is the steep pitch of the roof vs how low this hidden gutter was installed. It seems as though the water run off the roof will completely miss the gutter?

    • @modestohodesto7140

    Installing non pitched gutters in commercial/flat roofing is the norm. That gutter is a beautiful product, too bad you couldn't give the mfg your lengths and have welded end caps and downspout outlets already fabricated when they arrive on site. I love the overall aesthetic, those soffits are going to look amazing. I wish I knew where to source that material

    • @NSBuilders
      @NSBuilders  Před 2 lety +1

    • @julianugentarchitect
      @julianugentarchitect Před 2 lety

      The do make end caps and corners for situations where the gutter is not concealed. The extrusions fit together with stainless steel pins into the slots and secured with adhesive. Extrusions are 29’ lengths.

    Great looking garage door. But put some protection on it, because this is still earlier in the construction and you don't want to see it damaged.

  • @danf6070
    @danf6070 Před 2 lety

    Maybe I missed this detail but how was the fascia fixed to the gutter? I didn't see any fasteners. Just curious how you achieved such a clean, crisp look.

    • @julianugentarchitect
      @julianugentarchitect Před 2 lety

      The outer fascia is nailed to the inner fascia at the bottom. At the top, it will be screwed to the thick part of the aluminum gutter (about 1/4” thick) and screw heads will be covered by the drip cap.

    Man, are there still no pre pitched gutters out there? Gotta be some sort of self leveling you can use that won’t break down over time... Pour into gutter and pitch the gutter out of level (on a level surface) …Once dry = DIY pitched gutter for heavy rain and cold climates? Lol

    It seems to me that the gutter is way too low...I could imagine water damage over the years, and a lot of water missing the gutter entirely. Typically the back side of your gutter is installed tight to the drip edge....this looks to be 3 1/2 inches or so lower than that....I know its a relatively steep pitch but man...just looks off to me.

  • @benwilson6866
    @benwilson6866 Před 2 lety

    Only issue i see is no grade on the gutters themselves. Anytime we have been requested to install gutters level for "aesthetic" reasons, that means we end up coming back to the house a few times a year to clean them, or to add grade eventually. The grade is really important to get rid of any debris that inevitably get into the gutters. Small or large debris it all clogs them at some point.
