When I was dating my wife of 52 years and counting we would listen to this song on the car radio 1970 beautiful rrendition of lost love sad but romantic .
1970. Those were the days. I’d not exchange the memories for anything. Hit, after hit, after hit. All from the palm of your hand and an AM portable radio. ❤
I was lucky enough to see them in concert in '74. They were the opening act for Al Green. The entire audience sang along...a real moment (pun not intended).
And then Hip Hop and Rap came along, and these beautiful, romantic songs were put on the shelf and marked “old school” or “outdated”. Not in my home. We still appreciate the old songs that appreciate women, not insult them.

I am still listening to this song, October 4, 2020. I was in the 9th grade in 1970 at Whitted Junior High School in Durham, North Carolina when this song came out. That was 50 years ago and so much has happened in my life good and bad. I miss this music and old friendships from back in the day in school.
