- Sure, there are a lot of things in Disney World that seem to NEVER change but there’s a surprising amount that HAS! In the nearly 50 years Disney World has been open we’ve seen a lot of things come and go -- and some of these might surprise you!
Thanks to our friends at AllEars & Yesterland for some of the old-school Disney photos!

I remember buying little tiny books for autographs from the characters ❤️
I loved, as a little kid, visiting Minnie and Mickey at their houses. I LOVED Minnie’s house.
The first time I ever cursed in front of my father was at River Country. The water in the lazy river was COLD, and adding insult to injury there was at least one point where it jetted out above the water line. 9 year old me got hit by that and let out a "WHAT THE ****" Dad was all "I get it, I'm not mad, I said the same thing to myself, just don't do it again"
Does anyone remember Push the Talking Trash Can? I loved him as a kid!
I remember going to Toon Town in Disney World and being able to walk through Mickey Mouse's house (I went there back in 1995).
Our kids loved the ant playground (honey I shrunk the kids). Gave us parents a time to watch and enjoy a Coke.
I miss the Backlot Tour. HS is still MGM to me :)
2 things I remember which I know 1 is definitely gone.
One thing I remember is that on many rides you had real people giving you the tour instead of a recorded voice over (living with the land for example)
Remember when you could ride in the front of the monorail with the driver.
I miss the Osborne Family Spectacular. I last went in 2012 which also was the last trip my mom got to take before she passed away. The lights were amazing.
The thing I miss the most is the old true all inclusive Disney packages, Deluxe Magic and Grand Magic vacation packages. You felt like royalty, everything was free (except merch of course). Food, boat rentals, tours, all parks before park hopping, etc
Disney MGM studios was awesome! I liked the back lot tour and my kids really had a blast in the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" area which I believe is Toy Story Land now.
I remember seeing Captain Hook and the Big Bad Wolf characters. I also remember going to and thinking it was so cool to see Mickey’s house.
Sitting in the monorail cockpit was always a treat
Telling my age, I was there that first year, still there today. Felt like a Princess riding those Swan Boats as a little girl in the 1970’s. Miss those awesome Epcot Pavilions I enjoyed in 1988. However, two more generations have now gone with us to make new memories! Please though, Disney, bring back some of the magic, the personal details, a few freebies to make us want to spend money. 😁
I was there in 1992 and I remember something called Body Wars.
I went to DisneyQuest Chicago once or twice as a kid and remember it being really fun! Didn't realize no other cities got one. The trouble with building a technology-themed experience is if you don't make huge updates like every two years it's going to show its age really fast.
I used to love looking for Push the talking trash can in Tomorrowland
The Sky buckets in Magic Kingdom. I remember they used to extend from the Rockets over in tomorrow land to I think it was called the Matterhorn (currently Rapunzel’s tower).
