And yeah, I am gonna allow myself one title joke in that vain per year. So look forward to next Summer I guess. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video. It's a short but good one in my opinion. Haikyuu was a blast to watch and I wanted to say something about it.

God I literally love all the characters but I have to say I really really love Yamaguchi.
The fact that he can be shy, nervous, and generally kind around people, but is best friends with Tsukki who couldn’t care less about what others think(for the most part), gives him a bit of a curious character. On top of that he’s aware he’s not the best player by FAR, but he wants to feel valuable and really a part and vital to the team, and works on learning, practicing, and perfecting jump shots, in which he proves just that. He’s such a kind character who may seem like he fits more in the background, but I can’t help getting excited, curious, and invested in him whenever I see him on the screen.

Although it’s not a crazy match I rewatch this episode over again many times. It’s just so emotional and as a volleyball player i know how it feels to know the joy of a winning team and the pain of losing.
I think anyone playing sport with a team in general know erally well that feeling that's why it resonate so much with us. It might reach some people a bit more because for volleyball player it's all the more resonating with them due to the situation. (I feel for you on that one i'm in the same boat, volleyball and sport is so hearth breaking when you lose.
Tsukishima is my favorite character his character development is insanely good

Whenever I think of Haikyuu, my first thought is that i love all the characters and that i don't dislike ANYONE (beside Maddog maybe). It's so hard to pick a favorite character though. Tanaka, Daichi, Noya, Asahi, Suga. I love them all. As for not Karasuno characters. Bokuto and Kuroo are high up obviously. But even minor, one time characters like Terushima grew onto me.

My favorite Karasuno member is my salty boy, Tsukki!
Also, another great example of background characters getting good development is the manager of Jozenji. We only see her for a couple episodes, but when she has her moments, they are so impactful due to the characterization we get for her.
I think Furudate focused on other players on purpose (obviously) so that we, the readers, not only feel a connection to this world, but also so we don't get tired of seeing Karasuno. I know it feels like that would never happen, but I feel like if we focused only on Karasuno, the pacing would go a lot slower.
If you're talking about favourite chatacter then its gotta be Nishinoya cause he doesn't take shit from anyone

I never cared about sports anime (don't really enjoy sports at all), but watching this video makes me want to watch this anime. Oh, my
I don't watch much sports Anime either. Honestly never had so much as a passing interest in Volleyball, yet I found myself loving Haikyuu. Give it maybe 3 episodes or so and I think you'll know if you're interested in watching more.

ThatNaijaGamer Lee and Guy were both Kage level with their gates open and all so Lee is definitely one of the strongest living ninjas.
Sleeply lee can only open 6 gates guy is the only alive Ninja who can open all eight also youre supposed to die or be harmed beyond belief after the 4th gate so its really not something lee uses every fight. I wouldnt say lee is kage level or could he beat guy. Lee is more like kakashi in part 1 level. One of the beat jonin but not top 7 in the leaf
I love Haikyuu so much oml, I loved how well the story develops and I found myself upset at the end of every match because I wanted both teams to win somehow even though I knew it could not end that way. I also loved that Haikyuu not only put loss on the other teams like Aoba Jousai or Fukurodani, but also on Karasuno. Also as big of a jerk as he is presented to be at first, god do I have a soft spot for Tsukishima
Tanaka is basically my spirit animal so the choice is obvious
I absolutely adore Haikyuu!! as an anime and it has ruined me for all other sports anime, tbh. I love the narative, the character development, the characters in general, I love how they handle the matches and that the writer really set up a world where literally anything is possible and we can't expect anything because then our expectations are turned on their head. How the story is so much bigger than just the match and the move sets and the pacing is incredible.
As for favorite characters in this show, it is really hard to pick. I love Suga and Daichi, Nishinoya and Tanaka, Tsukishima, the coach. As always I'm drawn more towards the surrounding characters than the main characters but I do like them too. And that's just on the team. I also enjoy their opponents and the characters surrounding all of them. It's just such a great show and deserves all of the love and praise it gets.
whike this goes into the manga, i love how haikyuu sets up the second years for next year. i think a lot of haikyuu’s great side character stuff comes to fruition in nationals and subtlety is the method for development
Favourite Karasuno member: Nishinoya. Because, obviously.
Favourite Team: Not mentioned here, but Fukurodani because, again, obviously.
I honestly prefer some of the other teams than Karasuno, tho Asahi and Noya will always have a special place in my heart. When I was picking my number for my college sports tee, I picked 4 for Noya. But through that year I discovered a massive love for a certain owl ace. Bokuto is certain one of the 'main' side characters, or rivals, and I cant wait to see more on them in the Nationals arc of the manga.
Another character I fell in love with is Tendō, the Guess Monster. The glimmer of backstory we got for him instantly made me relate, and honestly, I'm still so salty Karasuno won that match. Which I think really highlights how well written the rival teams are written, as we've been given enough information about these characters to get attached

Awkwardness Personified Hunter x Hunter is somehow able to make you feel for a side character you may literally never see again (ex: canary, hanzo, knuckle, melereon and so many more!!)

I can't pick one favorite, cause I think Oikawa, but then comes Akaashi, and Sugawara, and Nishinoya, and Kenma, and Tsuki, and... and all of them!!! I just can't!!!!!

This episode also shows the stakes, by showing what happen to losing team it shows what'll happen to Karasuno if they lose.

Kageyma is my favorite Karasuno player. But honestly every other member of Karasuno comes pretty close. Favorite team has got to be Fukorodani. Love their team dynamics
Tanaka is my favourite character. Usually I would dislike the loudmouth aggressive and shaved head character character, but he is just goofy and likable.

OMG. I love My hero academia and recently binge watched all Haikyuu episodes. And I have to agree with what you said, both shows handle side charakters pretty well. My favorite charakter is Kageyama but I also adore (here comes a list watch out) Daichi, Sugawara
My favorite member is hinata but it's a really hard choice to make... Honestly they are all so great
That episode still tugs at my heart. To show the other teams and how they felt losing was so powerful and it never fails to make me tear up.

One of my favourite use of (literal) background characters is in xxxHolic. The background masses in xxxHolic are all generic blanks with no defining features. For the longest time I thought it was just a stylistic choice, an odd somewhat lazy one but i didn’t think much on it or even notice it overly much. Then as you start uncovering the secrets and plot twists you learn the main protagonist has a strange ‘existence’ and even has moments where he almost fades from said existence. The art ended up showing the exact opposite of the characters predicament in a very clever way that you don’t notice at all till it’s nearly hitting you over the head with symbolism. CLAMP took something mundane that every artist has to deal with and made it a major foreshadowing effect that I’m positive no one caught on to for quite some time.
A very nice analysis, and enjoyable to watch! The only thing I'd be picky about is that we don't know whether Furudate is a "he" :) And I'm with you, all those kids are lovable and choosing one is just too hard

btw, my favorite character in haikyuu would be yamaguchi... his character development is just that good. along the tie he has with tsukishima's character development.

I love how nanatsu no Taizai plays with perspective.
We rarely see things threw Meliodas perspective, instead we switch between Elizabeth and the other sins of Diane, King, Ban which helped make Meliodas seem more Badass without it feeling cheap.
The focus on character interactions and Relationships makes every character feel more human than the 1note characters we see in many other anime
Haikyuu is the same reason on of the best anime of all time.
My favorite for Karasuno is Suga, followed closely by Nishinoya and Yamaguchi. I just really like Noya, while Yamaguchi and Suga are the two that I was the closest to being (in terms of role) back when I played soccer in HS.

I love haikyuu. Tsukishima is my favourite karasuno player. I enjoy the side characters in haikyuu a bit more than hero aca's just because of this. I feel for these side characters even though I know they won't get more development.

This is something that i have always felt that Haikyuu!!! did really well. They also do character development really well. And because of that last point, Tsukishima is probably my favourite. Either him or Hinata.

You know i never realised that i dont fave in haikyuu like srsly to me even someone like kuroo is on equal ground to hinata or kageyama. Just all of them feel so ... real like srsly. They all have so many human traits that you dont them as some fictional beings. I would probably say if i was to choose top 5 it would be
