i’m just happy jeff’s confirmed that pre-40 players are in the running
I think the only ones you will see are Christian, Domenick, Rick Devens, and maybe 1 or 2 others (probably not a past winner).
I would be stunned if we see any player from before Season 31 too. Unless they bring Boston Rob or Cirie back or something, but even that I doubt, and definitely not someone other than someone like that.
I dont watch survivor anymore as its gone downhill since season 40 but if some the big legends do return then I’ll watch it

It would be nice if 49 was a 30s-40s all star season, and 50 with legends. I would love to see Cirie, FairPlay, Russel, Malcolm, Stephanie, etc. to come back.

I wish I had the source but I’m pretty certain Probst said he would reserve 39 days for important seasons, which would mean that 50 would definitely be 39.

The notion of returning players has been far from Jeff's mind for some time now that he hasn't given it much thought. I wouldn't be shocked if reuniting with past players, bringing them through the casting process a second time, and subsequently watching them play a hard and cutthroat game reignites the idea of returnee seasons in Jeff's mind. There will undoubtedly be people that Jeff wants to see play only to be cut due to the casting and format restraints. Because of this, I could see season 52, 53, or 54-barring 50 has a good run and reception-being another general all-star season.

I love Colby one of my favorites but he was kinda a shell of himself season 20. We’ll be at season 50…
See, I'd be fine with the edge if it was purely restricted to the pre-merge. I'd rather it not be there but the biggest problem with it was how much of an advantage the edge returnee got by basically avoiding the main game and by getting to know and trauma bond with the jury members.
Natalie really fumbled the bag in making enemies on the edge. If they end it once the merge hits and have everyone go home, then I think it'd be more fair.

I do think that Jeff not caring about placements is really great! I would love to see players like So Kim, Natalie Cole, Reem, Bhanu and Jelinsky to atleast get a shot. Even someone like Ali Eliott or Stephanie Johnson though that is a massive strength, Even Bruce would be fun!
If Edge of Extinction were to be included in Season 50, then the season has to be longer than 26 days. EoE was designed to test the booted contestants to the limit while they were waiting for an opportunity to get back into the game, and 26 day schedule is simply not enough to properly serve EoE’s purpose, imo. And 3 tribe format is no go as well. 2 tribes of 10, EoE, 33+ day schedule (at least a week longer than current format).

My realistic-ish ideal survivor 50 would be:
No theme or second chance 2.
No player from before 30s (there will be so many newer players that I feel like any older players will be easily picked off which will just be so underwhelming).
I reluctantly accept the edge but don't want fire tokens or new dumb twists to it. I wouldn't mind them altering the format to make it more "fair" somehow but I specifically don't want them to make it more OP.
2 tribes of 10.
At least one tribe swap (maybe expand from 2 tribes to 3 at 18 to satisfy Jeff's fetish for 3 tribes of 6?).
More than 26 days (30?) due to edge and/or larger cast.
Less twists that take away the agency of the players.
No losing votes (the most unrealistic request of all of them lol).

I think the best thing they could do is a second chance voting. There for sure will be a majority picks from the new era and we can bring back some gems like Shane Powers, Angela/Christian, Dominick A., etc

Why do old school players need to be tested in the new era format? I’d rather see new era players tested in the 39 day game
39 day players if you gave them fair chance would destroy 26 day players strategically.
Doesn't the theme usually come after or very late in the casting? I think the biggest question is do we get A legends type season which could be like HvV2 or a "last chance: season. A 2nd chance season of all 1 time players or if it were by era, my guess would be 3 tribes, something 1-20, 21-39, and new era,
In my eyes, Survivor is currently on life support, if they cast players from only season 40 and above, people will flat out be disappointed. While there are a few interesting players to cast from those seasons, if they miss out on some legends, the majority of people will not appreciate that. Survivor 50 can create hope or it could ultimately be the nail in the coffin.

i think they should do 4 tribes of 6 with one of them being sent to the edge on day 1 and then just give the people sent to the edge an invite to a future season if they dont earn their way back into the game
been thinking about it and i think jeff wants it to be a celebration of all 50 seasons, so maybe itll be the 18-24 people responsible for the best moments in the show? the 100+ minute compilation CBS posted could also suggest that

Imagine getting 4 tribes and then suddenly Domenick, Carolyn Wiger, Davie, Angelina, Shan, and Jesse are like sent to the edge of extinction when they lose the first challenge.
carolyn would fucking suck, so would angelina (assuming she doesn't like. try to negotiate for someone's jacket on the edge) -- the rest i reckon i could live with but only if the surviving cast is on the level of those six (we're talking christian, devens, omar, cody, gabby, cydney, etc)
I wonder if season 50 will have 20 or 18 players. if it has 18 it will be 26 days and if its 20 players then it should be 39 cause I dont know if they fit 20 people in with 26 days.

Okay, so I KNOW this won't happen. But here's on idea.
Survivor 50
Three Tribes of 8 for a total of 24 players
8 Old School
8 New School
8 Internationals (Have played on various editions before.)
The game lasts something like 32 days.
But to help, it's also a second chance type season where the public vote for the players to return, and they are announced at the 49's finale, have the potential cast there, on the island and as soon as the announcement is made, they go right into playing.
Literally it's you're in, go down the beach to your new tribe, see you in the morning for the first challenge.
EoE makes sense for S50, especially with the hour long episodes they could actually flesh things out more and have time to do it, that said with only 26 days it would feel silly as fuck
I would like 50 to be 30-40 vs lengends as the teams
How Survivor 50 Should Be (realistically):
- 39 days, I mean, come on.
- 2 tribes of 10, with 2 winners from each tribe.
- 1 player from each season, to prevent “connections”.
- More physical challenges, we need to balance it between the budget era’s of constant puzzle & endurance challenges.
- No mergatory. Thanks to Kaleb’s SITD, Jeff most likely not remove this twist.
- Ever since Winners at War, I feel that every All-Star season since that, players who are voted out (or evacuated) should be on the jury.
- No Final 4 Forced Fire Making Challenge, then what’s the point of winning the Final Immunity Challenge?
- Tribe Swap, Exile, penalties of losing should be staples in the game. Everyone should have the right to vote in every tribal.
Format:
- 2 tribes of 10 returning players
- Exile Island: Like Tocantins, 1 player of each tribe goes to Exile after every reward challenge.
- Tribe Swap: Final 16, a tribe swap formed 2 new tribes of 8.
- Merge has 12 players, no mergatory.
- Final Tribal has the Final 3 facing a 17 person jury. Jeff should give the jurors the option to either get up & take turns or have an open discussion.
- Reveal the winner & the reunion live & have the Fan Favorite Award.
& contestants get swimsuits
I watch (and have always watched) Survivor for the playing of the game, not this personal growth garbage, Survivor isn't therapy. It's a million bucks!

What about redemption island and season 23 South Pacific? Fight for your way back into the game. Edge I don’t think works on a 26 day game but also makes redemption island tricky. I would say 3 chances to get back in the game, day 7,14,21. Every episode could include 1 immunity challenge and one duel in the 90 min episode. Also I like Tyson’s idea that there is no fire at 4 but instead you bring out say 25 previous castaways and day one first challenge is everyone makes fire against eachother, first 18-20 get to play, other 5-7 go home
I also think it would be neat that the winner of the duel also wins things that impact the game. For instance what if the winner of the duel who gets back in the game gets a choice of what advantages would be inserted into the game, it would be up to them to find it because they know about it but aren’t given any clue about where it is. Regular duel wins could be like steal a tribes flint, provide immunity to one player for one tribal ( no insight who is going to tribal), provide a ration of rice to ____ tribe, block a persons vote. One little twist per episode would make the game so hard to navigate and make it interesting!
The show can’t keep milking the same legends so this season really should be only for one-timers that can establish a larger base of legendary players going forward.

I have always been so confused on why people don't bring up spencer bledsoe in this conversation because spencer just said he doesn't like modern survivor and he might not return if he was called which is the same for almost every player like didn't boston rob say he wasn't going back but then he was called and excepted and let's be real how can you have a season celebrating survivor without him he played to times and made top 4 in both and played different in both times he should definitally be in the conversation to return because he is a lock to get offered

MEN 35-39: Devon (35)-Dom (36)-Christian (37)-Davie (37)-Devens (38)
MEN 41-46: Ricard (41)-Omar (42)-Jesse (43)-Carson (44)-Q (46)
WOMEN 35-39: Chrissy (35)-Angelina (37)-Kellee (39)-Elaine (39)-Janet (39)
WOMEN 41-46: Shan (41)-Tori (42)-Karla (43)-Carolyn (44)-Emily (45)
My rules would be like this:
(1) anyone who has played 3 or more times can not play again. Would love to see Russell, Coach, Ozzy and Kelley W play until they win, but there's way too many deserving people that need another shot. This would open the door for people like Courtney and/or David Wright
(2) Balance out all eras. Like have an equal amount of people per era they started in.
(3) Yes, this includes during the "old school era", where even though there's not many to choose from. A few names come to mind, most notably Neleh (S4; she's been awaiting the call for a long time!).
(4) Have at least a few people who were voted out pre-merge in recent seasons.
(5) No previous quitters!
Or just have a "first boots" season. If not that, than a "pre-merge boots" season

Edge of Extinction seems very likely to be a part of the format unfortunately. It definitely won't be best of the best. I think they will probably have more players than ever before. What might happen is 4 tribes of 6, with only the winning tribe getting immune and the other 3 tribes voting for someone to be sent to the edge.
also, i do wanna see at least a few iconic figures return, like coach or lex or maybe even a jenna lewis appearance (id love for them to rep borneo on 50!), but certainly no boston rob or sandra or tony, im done with all three. a cirie return would only be worth it if she wins, and a lot's happened with parv since 40 that id be okay with it but its not a wishlist pick either.
from the new era i feel like jesse, carolyn, and q are 100% locked in for 50. hoping its 3 tribes of 8 with a regular 39 day game, so the pace of the new era but the length of the old era. and if theres eoe, it can stay until the merge

she had filled out the paperwork for 40 when they told her the theme changed. lex was directly told he was CAST for 40 when they told him "we only cut you for one reason, you'll know when you hear the name of the season", fairplay was in talks for 40 when they told him the theme changed. i think survivor's smart enough to grab a few older faces

Yeah that’s a good point, they are casting based on race instead of character now. Since most of the best players prior to season 41 are white they would not be picked because they are white, which is racist and absurd. Woke culture is destroying entertainment. Seasons 41 onwards have been quite subpar compared to the older seasons due to the forced castings.
